Energy Siphon III + Subsystem Targeting Shields = Enough to drop shields?

Game tool tip says my Energy Siphon is drawing about 36 points of power from all 4 subsystem, including Shields. My innate Subsystem Targeting from the Vesta shows a 40.7 energy drain on the Shield subsystem. In theory, adding them up gets a total of approx. 77 in drain of my opponent's shield pretty much simultaneously. Both powers last about 20 seconds due to high Auxiliary power. Given that most PvP players put in only about 50 points for Shields so they can run 100 to their weapons, unless they specifically spec for power insulation - which I doubt they do given most Escorts seem hell bend on maximizing their weapon damage and DPS to an absolutely insane level - would this combination of these two powers be enough to drain their shield power down to zero, thus dropping it completely for the duration of ES and Subsystem Targetting?

Erm... prolly not anyone who remembers sci ships exist will have at least 6 points of insulators and as such any drains are but by almost 50% instantly...

No, it is not enough. To say the truth: ES III + Tyken II + innate TSS are not enough to drop shields on player ship unless he is played by someone who is brainless and has not any points in insulators. The only way to drop them while playing sci-drainer is to use polaron weapons on the top of sci drain powers. I usually slot one beam fore, one aft and 4 turrets. All of this (including TSS, Tyken and ES) should be enough to bring shields on escort or battlecruiser down. Sci ships and healers with high shield powers are pretty safe.

All in all it's not the most efficient build as you sacrifice anything to drop shields for few seconds with rather long interval between. Not worth the trouble IHMO.

Running 6-9 in PI is standard practice among virtually all longtime PvP'ers. 9 ranks is a 50% reduction, and many pieces of desirable gear come with further bonuses to PI, reducing that drain further.

A little link to demonstrate what drain looks like when you're pretty much hyper optimized for it.
If you feel Keel'el's effect is well designed, please, for your own safety, be very careful around shallow pools of water.

But, there is a catch with target subsystem shield. There is % chance to disable single facing. That part is affected by decompilers (duration) and only way to repair the shield facing is use EpTS.

Only 36 power drain with es3? I had 50+ you need to max it out because about only half of whatever is shown will actually drain.

So maybe! An es3 plus a target 3 plus a high drain tykens 2 might catch someone by surprise for a few seconds... But not enough to make a difference

Unless you're a Klingon, thn take plasma leech and siphion pods.

That'll buy you a few more seconds, make sure you fully max your flow caps too, at least 250+

That's the vesta with 5 flow cap consoles and 9 points in flow caps.

Then like I said, maybe you'll catch a target without shields for a second or 2.

Unless its in a pug setting and the other guy had no idea what's going on.

Frankly, I think the only sound advice that one can give new players at this time is to stay away from PVP in STO.
