The galx has its own trades...

If you are refering to ships running MES... that was always an option... the boff makes it better now I guess. Still they trade a boff slot to do it... and MES 1 even with a boff still blows.

So to have a real cloak they need to trade more then an ensign skill in general.

Honestly galx and defiant have had standard cloak for a long time... its a bit late to be QQing about it now. lol (not to mention that they still trade a console slot to use it)

Honestly do like the rest of us real klinks... Fly your Battle cloak, kill feds stupid enough to be in cloaking saucer ships. lol :)

Granted they have to give a Boff slot but mes 1 is now as efficient as a standard Klingon cloak with the subterfuge trait

It gives the same rating and has the same distance handicap trust me try it!

This is the reason Brel can still constacloak because the Feds are happy but I say if something isn't working properly it should be fixed but hey as long as the Feds are happy that's all that matters

If you are afraid of Galaxy-X (which always had cloak btw), then you must be really trully great pvper..NOT :o

Hey, just FYI, Space +Stealth % boosts will be changing in the near future. I'm posting from home at the moment, so don't have the full details available. But things like the Reman Deflector and Subterfuge trait will soon be undergoing some alterations. Watch for patch notes some time soon... right now is probably not the best time to go spend a respec on trying out Stealth-related builds, unless you're prepared to potentially spend another one in a few weeks.

Thought this was being at least looked at? Did something else change? I've been told that using this a Brel can virtually never be eyeballed. Just saying. No first hand knowledge.

It's been a lot of fun making my Fleet Ambassador into an almost-cloaking ship by using MES.

But it's also a very expensive and highly specialized build to make it really work in the first place. You have to buy one or more Romulan BOFFs with the Subterfuge trait (which means you need to be in a fleet or know a fleet who has access to these), and if you want a full set of 5 BOFFs, that's gonna be very expensive.

5 Greens are gonna put you back 20,000 FCs and 10k dil each. 5 blues are double that, and 5 purples are doubled in cost again. So it could cost anywhere from 100k FC and 50k dil to 800k FCs and 200k dil to fill out a whole ship roster.

On top of that, you have to give up an ensign (at least) sci slot, and it's still only an out-of-combat cloaking effect anyways.

I don't think this really hurts balance too badly, because MES is still just a BOFF ability, compared to the normally built-in cloak of most KDF ships. If anything though, KDF does deserve now to have an equal number of de-cloaking abilities and consoles as Feds do though.

So things really aren't hurt too badly I feel. If anything this is the perfect excuse for Cryptic to NEVER give Feds more cloak, because they can point at these examples and say, 'Hey, this is pretty much the exact thing you're wanting, and it's already in game'.

I've yet to see an MES-cloaking Bug ship though.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

On top of that, it's not like this grants a decloak alpha strike +damage to any Fed ship.

I really don't see the issue here, on top of the fact that Bort has flatly told us that stealth mechanics will be getting a revamp.

I was giving a stealth build a go on my escort. Gave up pretty much all of my defense to do so (Field generator consoles were swapped out for stealth ones, since I don't have romulan bridge officers), lost hazard emitters (lawl). I bet I could still be seen from five km, but I was always "decloaking" from 8-9km to get my weapon power back.

I'd rather my opponent see me coming. It makes little difference.

Besides, I saw a dev post that they were looking at this and that there would be an adjustment coming... So don't get used to it.

i personally though mes shoiuld be an toggled ability that doesnt cloak you but instead hides your ship on the mini map, and hides any markers (ie if you hover a mouse over me nothing happens) ability.

that way you can still be visually spotted but can still "sneak" up on someone if you use the terrain to your advantage.

You mean like if it masked your radiant energy emissions from enemy sensors or something? o_O

Joker: "We're fine until they, you know, look out a window."
