PWE wants me to give them my full name, address, zip code and phone number so I can buy some Zen? Are you out of your freakin minds?!
I've bought C-points/Zen before and never, not once, been asked to give out that info.I will never share that info with PWE.I do not trust you!
The PWE/Cryptic sweatshop...not where the game is made, but where the game is played!

If your in the US, you can completely avoid the issue by purchasing Zen cards from a local retailer. The Target chain carries them...
My guess is "hope" keeps people not playing but posting on the forums. For others, its a path of sad realization and closure. Grieving takes time. The worst "haters" here love the game, or did at some point.
I just posted this in another thread, but its relevant here too... If you live in the U.S.
Steam is your friend. I know I know, not everybody wants to use Steam, but I've purchased HUNDREDS of dollars through Steam and every single transaction has been instantaneous!! Put money in your Steam wallet, (which you can do in game with ALT-tab) then open the cstore pick your stuff, select steam wallet and BAM..DONE! No waiting, no having to pick STO as the game. But wait, before you say .... " I don't want to give my credit card # to Steam!!" You can go to bestbuy or GameStop and buy Steam cards to fill up your Steam wallet and never put in a CC #. Which by the way is a great way to turn birthday money, Christmas money, stocking stuffers, into cstore cash from your friends. I tell everybody to just get me a Steam card. I love Steam, low resources, keeps track of your hours you play every game...which I'm at 3063 for STO right now..try it, if you don't like it you can always uninstall it.
And how is this different to any other online store that accepts credit card payments?

I pay for my sub with PayPal each month, they don't seem to have a problem taking my money without me having a 'billing account'.I bought Zen before, paid with PayPal and did all that without a billing account. Now all of a sudden I need a billing account that needs all my personal info?My personal information is on a 'need to know' basis.....and PWE doesn't need to know.

Well, I'd rather they verified my info every time I purchased, it would make me feel a helluva lot safer. And since if PWE wants your info, all they have to do is ask your ISP, I think you may just want to invest in a nice fashionable tin foil hat.

If you want to put all personal information in their hands that's fine, but don't cry on the forums when you get TRIBBLE because they have a security leak or sold the info to a third party, there is nothing in the 'fine print' that prevents them from doing just that. And if something does happen, the 'fine print' keeps them from being liable.....you accepted the terms,so it's your responsibility.
On the other hand,if something happens with my Paypal account that isn't my fault,I am covered.Placing PayPal between me and PWE is my safeguard.
Call me paranoid all you want...it won't change my mind on how I feel about PWE and their 'security'.

I'm sorry but clearly can't see where you are going with this. General IP search covers about 90% of those information given. How ever. If you feel that you aren't safe. Jump of the web. You are just as entitled to not make any purchase as you are to do it. I for the other hand have no restrictions to PWE making my purchases just a little bit safer.

Why would PWE need my real name, physical address and phone number if all I need to create a PWE account is a valid e-mail,when paying with PayPal is by e-mail and only virtual goods are purchased?
Not even mentioning the fact that when things do go wrong, they aren't liable in any way if they TRIBBLE up.....so again, why would they need my personal information?

...ianal, but i'd assume it's something like "to shield themselves from chargebacks or legal action should someone attempt to use a stolen credit card or paypal account". I haven't read the small print, but it's possible that creating a payment profile in such a fashion constitutes a digital signature, which would (at least in part) free pwe from liability should someone use stolen monies to buy stuffs from them. They could be like "check out this digisig! we thought it was "x" handing us his own money, so we're not giving it back...add another count of fraud to "identity thief's" list of charges for damages."
of course, i could be wrong and pwe is who's behind all my recent sock and underwear disappearances. i will say (as i just did in a couple other threads) that i've given pwe a bunch of my money, and have never been overcharged or defrauded. also, that i've long set up a payment profile (what you're complaining about), and have not recieved any junk mail, solicitor phone calls, or even e-mail spam because of it: which tells me that they probably don't sell their info.

As to why they need it?
Google "online credit card fraud" and see what happens when little details like name and address are ignored by etailers.

Got mine at the 7-11 gas station they are everywhere. :P
Dunno why it's an issue, paid for NW and nothing happened.
Then just use any of the myriad other methods of buying Zen.
No, not kidding you.
