they use to not be consoles. but the glaxay also only had 8 console slots 4/2/2 when the sep became a console cryptic added the 3rd sci console
the dreadnought was the same way but it also only had 3 rear weapons because of the lance... they added in the 4th rear weapon slot the same time the cloak became a console

Which is silly somehow if you look at some newer ships like the Jem?Hadar Dreadnought Carrier which has plenty of other stuff, like dual Cannons, Hangar, Subsystem Targeting and lets not forget 3,5 times the crew as the Galaxy.
If you think that those ships have almost no drawback (4/3 weapons does NOT compensate that IMO), i think the Galaxy should really get a huge boost (not just one uni Ensign or Lt.) to become on par with a beast like that.

as for the galaxy sep as a console and galaxy x cloak as a console i have a ? about that
the Negvar is the klingon version of galaxy it has 3 tac consoles and no cloak console.. why
I have an engi in a Galaxy refit and a klink engi in a negvar guess which is the better ship with the same skills n ship build? The neg it doesnt lose a console to seperation, or cloak
yet we had to pay for the fed ships...

Its the reverse of a drawback actually. The JH dread is based of a Sci vessel not a cruiser, with that in mind its an amazing ship. It even gets the extra front weapon all the cool kids have these days, in fact, it got it before it became the cool thing.
SRS have recently started a Galaxy Wing and in that section of the forum there is a killer build for the Gal-X utilising the subspace jump/tractor/lance and gloat technique. Nothing is sweeter than popping a bug in kerrat with one of the weaker ship designs in the game. When you register use your forum name so I can differentiate it from the 150 spam attempts per day
In the last few days in Kerrat I have made over 50 kills and have a log of the main spinal lance hit bearing in mind it hits twice, you can see one of them on my sig. This is so that as I continue to tweak this build I can compare the increases in the average hit rate.
The Gal-X is my favourite ship to fly and I have them all including two bugs (don't ask). It desperatly needs a 4th tac console and a LtCmd Tac station, an increase turn of 2 and a boost to the HP and Shield. The saucer sep should be built in and not a console as should the cloak. Then we are talking about a real Dreadnought that will be hard hitting and tanky as hell whilst still not being OP like the bug.
Actually I would be very interested as well. I have just sent an application into your site.
I have been flying this ship for the last 9 months. It is a great ship, but due to the Lance's terrible aim, I have found it to be just another cruiser. I'd be quite excited to learn how to optimize this ship.
Going back to the original intent of this forum, I have recently begun testing experimental builds on my Galaxy-class Retrofit. It is promising, and I will post something about it here if it is largely successful in PVP matches.

To make the lance work better throw down some drive plasma or a tractor beam. If you want to pvp with it get a team together and have someone else throw the tractor beam even. My only problem with the lance is that I dont like phasers, and if you dont use phaser consoles the lance is TRIBBLE.
Hehe, I've had fun in my Galaxy X (Tac captain) using a similar tactic with the teleport/lance.
I guess hitting them with a TB or EWP would be a good starter to hold them still while you beat them over the head.
I also ripped the Quad Phaser Cannons off the Defiant Refit and stuck them on my Galaxy X. I don't care if it's dumb, it's a blast.

And there was no outcry, when that ship was released?
I wonder where all the "Buff the Galaxy -R naysayers" where, or where they already flying their Jem Hadar Dreadnought?
Seriously, i don't see the big problem in enhancing or reworking the Galaxy -R, since there are ships from the same time period (or even predate it) which are able to extremely outgun the Galaxy.
If anything the Jem Hadar Drednought should be one of the most "tanky" ships in the Game, while the Galaxy -R should be the prime example of a versatile ship.
