So, seeing this is now "Canon" obviously the empire was hard pressed to upgrade the basic utility of the K't'inga class battle cruiser (which in the recently introduced "Fleet retrofit" is a very powerfull unit) we see a ship that is definatly transitional from the ships of the empires late 2200's to the present. Definatly more of a basic cruiser build more along the line of the Federations cruisers. I expect there will be a fleet version of both this and the Koro't'inga in the near future. Both would be much more potent ships that fit at the upper end of a more combat oriented battle cruiser hull that has an emphisis on manuverability. perhapes a better placement would be where the Kamarag class fits in the shift from the "Battlecruiser" of the K't'inga to the Strikecruiser type of ship such as the Vor'cha. The Koro't'inga is still definatly a Battlecruiser, while the Kamarag fits into the strike cruiser defination just below the Vor'cha. More durability then manuverability.
I like the ship, it adds another great turning Battlecruiser to our arsenal

New season is right around the corner, guess I can live a while longer in my breen cruiser till it arrives. I got the parking space for the Kamarag, just no use for the weird BOFF layout.
I've been using the Vor'cha or the Negh as my tanking ships so the LCDR sci boff will be a nice addition. I'd have made a few changes personally, but I think I'm going to enjoy this ship.
During last years anniversary event I only had one KDF so I only have the one Bortas, which I love. This year at least I can try out all three "classes" on the new ship and see which I like the best...though I can say i'll be the Engi lol.
There doesn't appear to be a whole lot of battle in this battle cruiser.

Think so? I see potential just shy of the Fleet Vorcha (minus the 10% bonuses of being 'fleet' of course). Set it up an Aux2Bat + 3 technicians and get the lone cannon skill up half the time. Still have room for EPTS tankiness, plus RSP, plus DEM or high-level Aux2SIF. Then there are the options created by the LtCmdr Science slot. Only real shortcoming compared to the Fleet Vorcha is that you can't put APO on it. Its not OMFG THIS SO BROKEN or anything, but there's potential.

All I see in your post is tank, heal, draw fire, and beams. Typical cruiser- no battle.
At least with all those weapon hardpoints she'll make a good storage locker for my 'spares' in the bank.
I like the T5 Kamarag. I think it will be more than a nice addition for my chars. I especially love the Boff layout on this one, cause it kinda fits my playstyle.
It's basically a sci.-oriented cruiser, but it has teeth. With the turn rate it has, the cloak and my guess that it will probably be able to mount dual cannons + the Lt.Cmdr Sci. will make one nasty bird to fly.
I look forward to it
There's plenty of Battle in it. DEM3 is much more powerful than you think
we'll see if the c-store version is better as DEM2 on my fed doesn't do anything for me c'ept make me want boarding parties even more. None of my KDF toons use it as CRF is king.
I'm more inclinded to try a Tactical in this. Use the DPS from the Battlecruiser and my Tac with the tanks and heals from the boff slots, tried a similar thing with a Sci in my Akira

I also.. Admittadly there is no mention if it can carry dual cannon's or not.. the assumption of course is that it can.
We may have possibly gotten the better ship looking at the Ambi's stats. Not to shabby of a transitional ship between what I'm starting to call true battle cruisers, and the heavier strike cruiser classification. Just have to see tomorrow. I'm hoping I can use it for a skin for my fleet K't'inga..really really hoping...
If anyone hasn't seen, Branflakes has updated the blog, the Kamarag as expected can mount DC & DHC. Yay!
Well.... it is a Battlecruiser after all :P

I heard this the other day someone saying dem doesn't work with crf
I activate APAIII with demIII and CRF shield facings drops an stuff just pops even in pvp seemed to increase my damage in Arenas and cap'n hold by a large margin
I know it's off topic and sorry

The ship looks good to me might suit my sci intreguing
Any speculation on what we have to do to get it yet
Something like go to a waste of space imaginary land that doesn't fit into sto run around a racecourse for 25 days to finally get a ship I hope not I hated q and his little place with people saying "ill sell you 10 sleigh bells for 400million EC"

According to my logs, DEM is working fine currently.
The KDF version is a jewel compared to the Ambassador, IMO, but still kinda meh.
I didn't expect much out of 50 year old ships, and I wasn't disapointed.
Edit: And why wouldn't you run BOTH CRF and DEM? To say one is better then the other... sure mathmatically that is true... but the joy is both combined...
I once again match my character. Behold the power of PINK!
I love it, after the loss of the T5 K'T'inga going "Fleet". This is a sweet substitute. My KDF Capt. will make good use out of her. And go well with my growing ships. Kamarag, Negh'Var, and Breen ship. I'm getting plenty of ships to play with now. My Negh'Var is more Eng. based, with this more Tac. It will make a good DPS ship for my Capt. And another choice from the Tac. based Breen ship.

The Boffs are pretty similar to Vorcha. One less eng slot traded for one more Sci slot. Or were you hoping for Commander Tac? hehe.
Kamarag doesn't hold quite as much of a lead over the Ambassador, but KDF battlecruisers still make Federation cruisers look lame, drunk, and late to the party.
waste of space just like any other cruiser or carrier, lets be honest folks, all you need in an elite stf is 5 escorts. while cruisers are fun if you roleplay, they are garbage in elite stfs where tanking means nothing and dps is king.

Cruisers are not garbage. Especially Klingon ones. They have more than enough DPS ability for any challenge, including STF's

You've never tried to tank several Tactical Cubes, have you?
Damage is the fastest way to tear apart enemies in STO, that no one can deny. However, when your objective is to hold the line, or simply draw fire off another member doing something else... suddenly damage becomes useless :P
Cruisers and Battlecruisers have their role: take damage while dealing it in return, and they do it well. They're not fast killers, but that was never the point.
And on this thread's topic, I'm still working on my opinion of the stats, but I'm glad the KDF have another ship in their lineup Even if it's 'only' a counterpart to the Ambassador, it's another unique ship we haven't seen in canon, and that's pretty sweet by itself.
Was named Trek17.
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.

Wow did you just roll in from the federation
The fleet torkhat is a beast can take on any 4 console raptor dps wise
The voquv with ABOPS can out dps any raptor or bop in pve

Actually I have tanked elite tac cubes.......in an assault cruiser or voquv, its completely unreliable due to lack of a real taunt. Escorts end up tanking most stfs due to the insane threat they generate. I actually tank more in a raptor than I ever did in a voquv. The issue with sto is that threat is just stuck on escorts. Dont get me wrong I love cruisers for my personal one man rping, but after years of doing stfs they go alot smoother the more escorts there are per stf
I'm curious to see what one actually looks like...while in it.
The Friday screenshot gave me a certain impression of what the ship looked like.
The blog changed that somewhat.
The video massively changed that.
On my Tac, well - while I'll pick it up, I'm more than happy currently dorking around back and forth between her Mirror Qin and Mirror Vo'quv (yes, I know - but it's funny at times).
My Eng though, well - he went Negh'Var to Mirror Vor'cha and I enjoyed that. Dabbled around with the Chel Grett, but I went back to the Mirror Vor'cha. The Kamarag, for the way I play the Mirror Vor'cha - well, for the most part it's a no brainer to take it for me. Switching the LCdr Eng for the Lt Sci while adding the En Tac for dropping the En Sci... well, yeah - that's just going to work much better for me. Heck, I'd say the same thing if I had the Vor'cha Retrofit and was looking at the Kamarag where it was just trading the LCdr Eng for the Lt Sci. I'll get more out of a LCdr Sci ability than a second LCdr Eng ability.
My only concern is the loss of crew and hull. It being the older ship, I could see the loss of crew and hull compared to the newer Vor'cha (though, the Ambassador actually got a bump over the Sovereign...hrmmm).
Crew might end up toast to Theta in PvP, but the Borg don't drop Theta. I think the cut in crew and hull is a bit steep when balanced against a +0.5 Turn....

While I appreciate your enthusiasm about the vo quv,, cause I have one, I disagree that it can out dps a high tier escort with dhcs....adv bops dont have crf. Or spread, or a brain. The torkhat is small, nimble and mounts dhcs, so it basicly a heavy escort, there is not a chance in hades a bort or any other cruiser, fed or klink is out dpsing an escort, and unfortunately thats all pve is about, timers and killing fast and efficiently

stupid phone, meant to quote this. and by the way i have thought before i speak, and frankly who are you to tell me what my opinion can be. Fact remains this isnt even a thought, it comes from hundreds of elite stfs worth of experience
I prefer not to argue like you har to in he federation shipyards I like coming here but please don't say the escorts are the only ship capable of laying solid dps down every ship is capable if the pilot knows how

On the other hand, the Ambassador is an Assault Cruiser with -100 Crew, +500 Hull, and the LCdr Eng switched with the Lt Sci.
Perhaps it would help to look at the stats of the Vor'cha Retrofit vs. the Assault Cruiser first:
-3000 Hull
+700 Crew
-1 Device
+3 Turn
+5 Weapon Power
+5 Engine Power
-5 Shield Power
-5 Auxiliary Power
+Cloak
+Dual Cannons
Then the stats of the Kamarag vs. the Ambassador:
-4500 Hull
-1 Device
+3.5 Turn
+5 Weapon Power
+5 Engine Power
-5 Shield Power
-5 Auxiliary Power
+Cloak
+Dual Cannons
Is it me or does that just feel off?
