Did anyone knows how the Tholian Reputaion Skill Tree especially the Tier 4 ability would affect the Damage Output of an Phaser DHC build?
My Sci is in a Vesta (Aventine, actually), and while it might not be the miniest/maxiest build, I still get about 10k DPS in ESTFs. My Captain just got to T4 in the Tholian Rep today. Prior to picking her new ability, I took some readings on my stats, then selected the Auxiliary Power Configuration - Offense passive, and finally, some more readings. Here are the results:

    Weapon Description ( Pre-Passive | Post-Passive | Post-w/RMC )
    Aux Phaser Dual Heavy Cannons Mk XII [Acc]x2 [Dmg] ( 1,173 | 1,234 | 1,404 )
    Romulan Hyper-Plasma Torpedo Launcher ( 2,350 | 2,518 | 2,540 )
    Dual Phaser Beam Bank Mk XII [CrtH]x2 [Dmg] ( 778 | 818 | 1,076 )
    Advanced Fleet Phaser Turret Mk XII [Dmg]x3 [Acc] ( 461 | 485 | 638 )
    Kinetic Cutting Beam Mk XII [Dmg]x3 ( 771 | 819 | 1,079 )
    Quantum Field Focus Phaser ( 3,460 | 3,460 | 3,909 )

Test Parameters: The stats reflect the "DPS" listing when available, or just the main damage amount when not, as shown in the Power List, while parked in System Space with the Pre- and Post- Passive at my standing Power Levels of 85/45 Weapons and 115/90 Auxiliary. At these settings, the Tholian passive is providing +23 to each my Starship Energy Weapon Training, Projectile Weapon Training, and Starship Weapons Training skills. The last stat was also taken Post-Passive, but with the addition of a popped Red Matter Capacitor to achieve 110/45 Weapons and 130/90 Aux, the passive now providing +26 to each skill. Results are rounded to the nearest whole number.

Observation: I didn't expect the QFFP to be altered by the passive, and I was right. The QFFP is not affected by the new ability. It only improved when my Aux power went up.

Conclusion: While it is kind of a pain to level-up another Rep, the T4 Tholian Auxiliary Power Configuration - Offense passive is a significant add for any Aux-based build, and I would highly recommend it.

    :)

actually I think the vesta pretty much outclasses escorts, and the only drawback is the turnrate (and that is why I dont get why ppl are like how awesome the breen ship is, when the vesta is just every bit better :))

I want the vesta now you made me buy it :X what have you done XD....I am going to buy you pizza cheese and pie :D soda and more pie :D... then I will treat you with milk and cookies XD...

    cool :)

also whatever drew me back to STO after two months, made me go back building my aux DHC setup ^^ gonna be a while before I am back to competitive DPS, but hopefully I will be able to pull 10k out (tho I guess most tacs are way beyond that number at this point, I can only hope there was a fix for the sci players in the past weeks to help balance things out)

    Why the Nukara console?

Question in general. Why use the aux cannons? Could break from those and add something with a more decent proc. Plus if you wanted to add some amazing burst, you could dem+marion.

Aux2bat so marion, techs and a warp core

    http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=vestadahm_0
Non aux2bat, 3 attack pattern cd doffs, marion and a warp core.
I would use the assimilated set for extra heals....but to each their own.

It is worth noting that the Warp Core reward from the current (at time of post) feature episode (Sphere of Influence) can boost Aux to 135/100. Needless to say, on a ship that uses Aux powered phaser cannons....... :D

tbh that 135 warpcore is only good, if you use AP in the back, with the 2 set bonus, and with the general consoles from the new season. otherwise, an elite core is just better, with a well set up leech (so everything is above 75).

I was testing myself an aux dhc build, and could not get above 15k (altho I am horrible with cannons, and the hardpoints on the vesta does not help me either :D)

at this point, I am just using my faw spam build, atleast it is a solid 15k (managed 17k top out of it). the 6 weapons are not enough tho, with all the other high DPS ships around, for a2b

I dunno how I feel at the lack of TT. will try out a dual setup for DEM, altho I am not a believer :D

I was kind of wondering about that myself... Is having the 135 Aux better than having an Elite Core's AMP tag? Hmmm...

If each point is worth 2% damage, the. An extra 10 weapon power is 20% damage.

The real decider is if amp or weapon power is total damage or base damage.

Everything is usually base....but that's for the brains to figure out

What makes the Vesta somehow special are imo the aux cannons and the very flexible boff layout, which can hold many tac abilities while still beeing more or less a sci ship.
Im not saying that a beam setup wouldn't do good either i just like the aux dhcs more, since they (as all dhcs) are requiring a more careful positioning. As you might know positioning (getting into place, from which as most targets as possible can be hit from a low distance) and the resulting multitargeting is very important to reach high dps. However, the server performance (mainly buttonlags) can still TRIBBLE things up :).
One benefit of using the aux dhcs is the powerdrain from different energy resources as well as the possibility to fire with 130 aux power (btw i think there might be a hidden cap at 135 auc, which is ignored by some stuff as the warpcore engy, but im not really sure about that).

The following link contains a full description of my current buld (also look at the tab "desk/notes"!):
    http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=alexiavestadps2_0

My keybind tray contains balancing shields, 2x TT, eptS, eptW, pets.

Im using exactely the same setup in stfs as well as in nws (not pvp). Usually tbr is used in nws, but i found tykens2 in combined with leech and some flow caps at high aux to be better. It stops most ships, drops the shields of smaller ship and really makes them less dangerous. Using gw sets the cooldown of tykens on 15 sec, which means i can use it on a huge number of ships just as my gw is fading away.

I wont say this build is finished in every way yet (thinking about to use borg engine + deflector if it would allow me to drop aux2sif), but it does quite well in stfs and nws. My captains skills seem to be working, but arent perfect yet.
As soon as i get my spire consoles (crtH) i might replace the elite fleets turrets with crtDx3 ones.

For parsing i use Combatlog Reader, with settings on "full entity" which means it counts from my first until my last attack in the whole stf, which according to the reader would be the common setting in dps channels as well. ACT (from a fleetmate) seems to show a bit more dps and shorter combat duration, but i dont know about its settings. However it can still be difficult to compare dps from one person to another and even the lags and bugs can interfere with what one migth be able to do.
So far im getting usually getting about 15-18k in stfs (personal record while soloing one side: CombatLogReader?Cure Space[4:39]? Dmg(DPS) ?Alexia 5.227.374(19.147)).
I was also able to clear wave 10 on all flanks of nws (even without spire consoles). Breen, Fek and Jem'Hadar are still left.

Feel free to leave comments and suggestions. Im not planning to use beams on this toon, since the JHD on my tac toon is still better with that and i like exotic stuff for my main toon here :).
However beam builds (no torps) will still be a good alternative.

And so we get a new season... I worked my TRIBBLE off to bring my Vesta to 15 kdps which is I know low but still adequate for the old "advanced" queues, specially since the thing can heal quite a bit. Only to find to get my TRIBBLE kicked in the new iconanian queues! Seems like 15 kdps is the new 5 kds.... Would it be possible to bring a Vesta to >25kDdps without sacrifincing all the heals? My current build is drake, tetryon beam / grav well based, Do you think that is viable for the iconian queues? or should I swith to Axu cannon-based? I don't have the resources to upgrade the cannons to mk14 though...

    Advice would be appreciated
