Something that has crept in and I have found a temporary solution to it:

If you have 100 or more credits, replay an 'episode' mission (like ''stranded in space'' ) and transwarp to it.

    Just tried it and it worked. When I paid the 18,000 to transwarp to the dilithium mining asteroid, the game took my money and left me in the box.
