All I can say is that I'm fortunate to have a ton of Nukara Crates left over from the early days. So I had plenty of good quality EVA suits for my BOFFs.
However, I find it a pain to store, given how my inventory is already cluttered with Repair Parts, Regenerators, Particles, commodities, pets, and all these unique items. And you only can expand your cargo space so far.
What I would like Cryptic to do is make an EVA Suit slot on BOFFs, so when they go on EVA missions, they already have them on hand and switch into them than you having to play dressup and fumbling in your inventory.
I've thought about this. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have one one your captain too.
BOFFs should automatically don a basic suit that does not need to be kept in your inventor with the option to equip them with a premium suit.
What's interesting about this is that if you use ground nurse doffs, for a chance to proc an extra medic to your away team every time you use a hypo, on Nukara they beam in wearing an environmental suit.
So why not expand this to include BOFFs and make it global?
I didn't quite understand the optional so I failed it when I tried it.
Do you get anything for it?
And any clue how to acquire the Sword of the Raptor Star?
They've pushed it enough that I'm convinced we can get it or a replica of it.
The optional is worth the astonishing reward of 5 romulan marks. Now I'm sure you are very sad you have failed it.
About the sword, I think it's too important for the Romulan, they say they are gonna use it as a symbol of reconstruction. However, a replica would be nice. But well, I say that and never go see my trophy wall inside my ship. It's kinda useless.
About the suits, I didn't know about it either. I already had 3 suits in my bank, and bought the missing 3 for about 8K/piece from the exchange. Green quality.
You can also start "boldly they rode" and spam the crate until you have enough suits in inventory.
But the Romulans already recovered the Sword on their own from the Ruins and was examining it in the Tier 4 cutscene.
Though a replica of the Sword would be a nice Trophy for our Captain's Ready Room.
I was distracted trying to place the female Romulan's voice (the co-host from Priority One?) but I'm pretty sure they said that the sword they recovered was a copy and that they were still looking for the real sworn.
I'm guessing T5 is where we have a shot at recovering the real sword and that we'll get a copy.
It seems unlikely to me that they'd have a sword model in a game with sword animations without a shot at getting our hands on the sword in some form. There are hints, I think, that it could have Stone of Gol type properties. Maybe psionic damage. Swords are popular melee weapons. I know I want one.

Same with any security a tac officer summons with security team.
Oddly if you use the orb of possibilities your clones do not. However they aren't harmed by the environment either.
Missed opportunity to promote the C-Store FC suit again.
Oops, you just get a single unreclaimable One for 700 Zen.
Maybe rework the FC suit into a reclaimable one for that character if you don't want it as account wide.
You buy a consumable, tradeble crate from the C-Store, when you use it, it doesn't produce a single suit but adds it as a replicator Item you can manufacture on the spot.
I can imagine a lot more impulse buys of the suit when players are faced with this situation, then with the original EV suit mission.
FC suits are still a very rare sight, so I imagine they never sold too well.

Just checked: Adrianne from Priority One? Was that her as the Romulan scientist?
I believe that was Kestrel (or whomever voiced Rebecca) who voiced the Romulan Scientist.
And to me the dialogue said that sword was the real one, because the scientist said it was master work, similar ot S'task. And it had to been the Sword of the Raptor Star. (Though funny they find a holy relic just laying around. :P ) Tier 5 mission is not the sword but to encounter the Dewan / Iconian portal and shut it down / destroy it.
But I like the idea of the Sword having a Stone of Gol properties. Sibok's (Friday the 13th Vulcan) Lirpa had psyonic damage, so I could see the Sword having similar properties (and better).
I'll guess the "normal" player ist more upset with that as the "hardcore" player.
A lot of those "hardcore" people reached t4 over a week ago and yes I was upset too I had to get 4 more EV suits for my away team but not enough to ***** over it in the forum and create a whine thread.
I'm more upset about the fact that doff missions, starbase projects and other stuff take the material from your bank first and not from your inventory.
I got full stacks on my bank and the leftovers in my inventory, but nooooooo....everytime I start something which needs one of that, the full stack on my bank is used and I have to fill it up again.
Same goes for regenerators or components when you repair....whats the point in tapping the storage first?
EV suits start at ~5k EC on the exchange. It would probably have taken less time to earn that money, beam back to the NR starting zone, buy them and return than to create this thread. Even if you don't want to waste room on them: at that price, you can just delete them after the mission.
I wanted to point out it is definitely possible to beat this mission solo without any of your bridge officers wearing environmental suits (don't count on those boffs to help, however, they will cough and be incapacitated).

Yes! This is a very annoying "feature" and one that annoys me every day I fill up reputation projects.
My thesis is not that it is impossible to get the suits, but rather that if you do not have them already, it really is a gameplay stopper and very bad design.
When you play one of the missions that requires a small spacecraft, you automatically get a free ship slot and free shuttle craft as part of the mission. This is good gameplay design, because you are not left wondering how you should get the shuttle craft and free up a slot for it.
On the other hand, this mission just basically dumps you into a situation where it tells you you need an environmental suit, but doesn't tell you that your BOFFs need one, doesn't given you the opportunity to get one. It just assumes that all players have them already or if they do not, will stop their gameplay and figure it out.
I should also point out that all my environmental suits are bound to character, which means if I ever want to level up another character in the Romulan reputation (which I probably will not), I have to go out and get five new suits.
Personally I thought the cutscene was extremely clear that your boffs would need environmental suits, and I didn't have any so I quickly transported to the staging area, bought 4 off the exchange, and transported back. It took me all of 3 minutes, and I really don't understand what your problem is.
Sounds like you just weren't paying attention to me
go on exchange ev suits are about as high as 200 300 ec each and the fact that yhe visuals on some can be hidden is good i payed to play certian species it'd really stop any play where ev suits are involved if all of them could not be hidden. i spend alot of time on nukara sometimes really fun but if i had to put up with looking like some breen who got thrown out the confederacy i wouldnt bother going there anymore
Agreed. What they should have done is add a new equipment slot to hold EVA suits for characters and BOFFs. Ideally the game would then auto switch to the EVA suits when playing a mission that requires them.
What I would like Cryptic to do is make an EVA Suit slot on BOFFs, so when they go on EVA missions, they already have them on hand and switch into them than you having to play dressup and fumbling in your inventory.
In the PrimetimeUGC interview with Dan Stahl, he mentions exactly this idea. No ETA, of course, but it's something they want to do. That way, they can just flag a map as requiring an EV suit and people will automatically switch to them. He also mentioned a default suit if you didn't have one equipped.

Absofrigginlutly. You can already make basic pistols and shields.
I've thought about this. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have one one your captain too.
Its just too much of a fuss having to switch armor for 1 mission that only gives 10 Romulan Marks.

Moar trophies...........
Or a replica melee weapon along the lines of The Shard of Kahless.

D'oh!
I went all the way to that asteroid mining place to get suits.

11 chars x 4 BOffs 4400 Dilithium? half a days grind for one lousy mission? pff no thx.
The Shard of Kahless wasn't a replica, but a new sword made by Kahless himself, for you.
