I believe there would probably be issues with Cryptic actually changing an object people own into something with not only different visuals but also a different name, even if the stats are the same.
With keeping the item the same name (and stats) and just changing the visuals, it's easier to say it's "just" a visual change to their item, and fewer people will freak the hell out as if Cryptic is literally taking their already-owned items and changing them to other, completely different items.
You don't get what I said.
Cryptic keeps the Toron as is (as a shuttle pod), and they simply add the new model in the ship store and give players the option of what shuttlecraft they want the Toron Shuttlepod or the new Klingon Runabout.
And in the end, Klingons win out in getting a free new toy than Cryptic messing with canon (even if the Toron model never matched the canonical one).

The Toron as it is now already has stats comparable to the Federation Runabout. They are not changing the stats. They are changing the visuals to match the stats. If they changed the stats of the current item to the stats of a smaller shuttlepod to match the current visuals, they would be making it an actual different ship despite looking the same. And there is where people would have issues. It would be like taking the Excelsiors that people already own and giving them the stats of an Oberth because someone deemed it "more appropriate" now.
So instead of nerfing the Toron to match the current visuals, they are keeping the stats the same and making the visuals match the larger vessel that the stats portray.

And yet, the Toron isn't a Runabout or an Assault Shuttle, it's a shuttle pod. That's canon and something Cryptic cannot change.
If they want to make this Toron into a Runabout, fine. Just don't call it the Toron.
In Klingon shuttlecraft are called LupDujHom, so why not call it that? Or shorten it to LupDuj or call it the HivDuj (Attack Craft)?
Small, minor quibble: a "Dorsal" view would be the top-down view of the upper part of the ship (hint: The "Dorsal" fins of sharks and dolphins are on the top), while a "Ventral" view would be the bottom-up view of the "belly" of the ship. You seem to have them reversed.
Other than that, thanks for the preview pics!
Fixed, thank you.

Personally, it irks me to no end Cryptic taking a creative license with this, when the canonical Toron was a shuttlepod that was no larger than a Type 8 Shuttlecraft. And here they enlongated it to fit the role of a Runabout.
Eh, i figure it could be like the way some Air Force planes share nicknames with much older designs. The Thunderbolt and Thunderbolt II (aka Warthog) share little similarities, but it was enough for one to be the namesake of the other. Perhaps it's similar with the Toron.
Take a look at my Foundry missions! Conjoined, Re-emergence, and . . .

Well, Cryptic did create the Herme's class, when there was the Herme's class scout (which some argue is canon since it was seen on screen in the background).
But I don't get the impression the Klingons would reuse a ship designation. Surely they aren't short of heroes in the Empire to name ships after.
I don't think Birds-of-Prey ever actually had shuttles... at least, not at the smaller B'rel ones. Maybe the super-huge TNG Birds-of-Prey.
Also, the shuttle scaling in STO is a little out of whack anyway. The Type-10 Shuttles don't really look like they'd fit into the Defiant's shuttle doors, despite being specifically assigned for them.
The Chaffee doesn't fit into the main shuttle bay, but it does fit into the two side ones just barely. These were never seen on screen but are in the DS9 Tech Manual and Okudagram.

Well that was really a cargo bay, but you get the idea where I said there was room for shuttlepods.

Just like a tadpole when it starts to get its front and back extremities
I guess anything is better than the coffin look.
