It just went to Tribble:

Standard View

Ventral View

Dorsal View

Profile View

Aft view

Standard view, Borg set w/ console = crazy

Veteran material
...
Reman Shield

The stats haven't change, it is still the counter part to the Runabout, just the art of it looks less like a KDF Worker Bee.

Note: Even thou the model shows dual Cannons, you can NOT equip them on the new Toron. It's purely visual.
Edit: Dual Beam Banks will fire from the cannon points.

That's pretty slick. Do the beams fire from the guns, at least?

Dual beam banks do. Beam Array fires from the nose and aft.

Looks cool no argument there, but we've seen the Toron in the show and it doesn't look like that. I don't see why this isn't just a new KDF C-Store shuttle instead?

I could do without the X-wing, it makes the shuttle look dorky. Not to mention Cryptic taking a massive creative license in changing the Toron which on film never shown to have such features.

But why did they need to update the Toron? Why not make a new shuttlecraft? I mean we see the Kivra shuttle flying around and we don't know what that is, why not make this the Kivra and we get an option of what to fly?

Wow that... actually looks really nice. Here I thought updating it just meant making it bigger. Shame I've no reason to ever use one~

Is this interpreted as being a replacement for the Toron shuttle or as another ship in the same family as the Toron?

Afraid this is the Toron. :(

Personally, it irks me to no end Cryptic taking a creative license with this, when the canonical Toron was a shuttlepod that was no larger than a Type 8 Shuttlecraft. And here they enlongated it to fit the role of a Runabout.

Cryptic, do the right thing and make this a new shuttle for the Klingons and just give it a new name. You can even keep the X-wing. (Though be nice if we had a design option to have an integrated warp system like the Chariot and canonical Toron).

It doesn't really bother me. The original Toron was just a re-use of other, non-Klingon studio models, and Star Trek has retconned the appearance for things all the time on-screen.

    Serious question.

How is it the Toron warrants a (non-canon) makeover that by appearances is going to be a free upgrade, but you can't spend money on KDF ships for the C-Store?

If this was someone's side project then I'm cool with it, free stuff is not something I turn down easy. But if this got funding when we could be getting new ships that people might want, I'll be a little irked.

I won't argue that Cryptic never properly modeled the on-screen Toron in the first place. Nor that the Toron was a reused asset in Star Trek. But it doesn't mean Cryptic can change canon at a whim by slapping on a winnebago and some X-wings and calling it the Toron.

If they want to put in the canonical Toron and call this revised Toron something new, that's perfectly fine with me.

The STO Toron was always based upon an unused production sketch for Klingon ships. I never liked it's similarity to Starfleet Workbee's to begin with and I was befuddled by that design being chosen. So I ditched it in favor of my DujHod Chariot as soon as I'd unlocked it. But I also find it interesting to have Toron rebuilt rather than an additional ship having been added. /shrugs

Yeah, it does look like a Fed Workbee. But I just don't know why Cryptic had to waste time redesigning a model that had nothing wrong with it.

Not to mention, how can they make us believe this new Toron would fit inside a B'Rel.

I don't think Birds-of-Prey ever actually had shuttles... at least, not at the smaller B'rel ones. Maybe the super-huge TNG Birds-of-Prey.

Also, the shuttle scaling in STO is a little out of whack anyway. The Type-10 Shuttles don't really look like they'd fit into the Defiant's shuttle doors, despite being specifically assigned for them.

They explained the obvious discrepancy in shuttle size as a playability issue. If some of these shuttles were actual size, you'd never see them next to a Sovvie. The Oddy's workbees now are so small that I honestly don't know if they fire off when I use the power or not half the time. I just hope they make it to whoever I targeted if they launched at all.

Incidentally, the shuttles themselves are largely in scale to each other. Just not the big ships.

From the schematics I've seen, that is true. There is no shuttle pods. But there is enough room for them.

But the thing is, with the Doomsday mission, you had a Toron magically launch from the captured B'rel. Now we got this new Klingon runabout magically coming out of this ship, which is really far fetched.

It is possible that the original toron will return as a proper counterpart to the Type-8 shuttle ingame, and the "new" Toron - "Refit" will then become the EC purchase like the Runabout at a later date.

    Possible.

But just not sure why they just not keep the old Toron as the KDF version of the Type 8 and the new Toron as the KDF Runabout?

I agree they should have kept them as separate ships. The "new" Toron does look like it would be better as a runabout type ship.

Mya vote would be to keep the Toron the way it is now and make the new one a seperate shuttle.
They can put it in the C-Store if they have to.
It makes little sense to complain KDF stuff does not sell well to then not sell this thing.

Since this is a non-canon interpretation, give us a non-canon version for a non-cnon version and make it a counterpart to the Yellowstone...

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

See it almost all the time at KDF Fleet Starbases. Think someone said it's the same as a shield reinforcement pod (Carrier Pet).

    Nice, I like it!

If this was made into a Runabout shuttle then having it as a combat pet for a hanger would be cool.

Small, minor quibble: a "Dorsal" view would be the top-down view of the upper part of the ship (hint: The "Dorsal" fins of sharks and dolphins are on the top), while a "Ventral" view would be the bottom-up view of the "belly" of the ship. You seem to have them reversed.

Other than that, thanks for the preview pics!

I believe there would probably be issues with Cryptic actually changing an object people own into something with not only different visuals but also a different name, even if the stats are the same.

With keeping the item the same name (and stats) and just changing the visuals, it's easier to say it's "just" a visual change to their item, and fewer people will freak the hell out as if Cryptic is literally taking their already-owned items and changing them to other, completely different items.

I just gotta to ask....what of the B'rel in A Voyage Home that could house two adult humpback whales and surrounding water in one big chamber?
