The problem is not doing the race, the problem is having to do it 25 times over 25+ days. It becomes mundane after 15 days. I just hope the last 10 days wil go by quickly.

I did this race last year with multiple characters and can't remember losing a race and didn't even need to sprint at all. This year I only have won one race and that was using sprint and jump to slow down on curves. Unfortunately haven't been able to repeat that success so finally gave up in frustration.
I think they killed the ability to race in one of the alternate forms Q changes you into with the last patch. No idea why. I guess people were having too much fun with it.
Really? Because I just ran the race as Species 8472 not ten minutes ago.
You will lose at the Q race several times if you are a beginner. But there is no penalty for losing, just restart the mission and try again. In fact, I suggest that you DO lose the first few times. Just walk along the track to get the feel of it.
Once you get the feel of the track, you can start pushing things: Sprinting along straight aways, trying to cut corner, etc. You'll get out of boundaries, but you'll get more experience and better idea of the boundaries of he race are.
At this point, I've run the race so many times. I sprint the entire way from start to finish most of the time. I'm still pushing the limit trying to shave seconds here and there. I'm to the point, I can nearly alwas lap player's opponent that stared before me.

Yeah, I've pulled off a few where I never stopped sprinting. That is pretty challenging.
alot of people don't believe this, but the frosted boots actually give you slightly more traction on the race tracks, I know it doesn't say that in the tool tips and I don't know if they're supposed to do that, but if you actually try it, you'll find that you have a little bit more control then otherwise.
Oh, and they removed the time limit on the boots too, so if you've got last years in the bank somewhere, they'll still work and you won't have to worry about using them up.
Don't worry about sprinting too much, the NPCs don't really move that fast. The default jog is usually enough to keep up. The NPCs also follow a narrow, predetermined, path in the middle of the track, so you can gain on them by cutting the right corners and taking to the inside of any curves, or any other way you can shave a few seconds. I usually reserve my sprinting to the final stretch (if I haven't already pulled ahead).

I hear ya. Makes a colonoscopy sound like fun.
