I'm really at a loss to understand the criteria on this.

I've got a 3-part story that I've been working on.

Part 1 is 4 maps (2 ground / 2 space) with combat on 1 of them and a reasonable amount of dialogue. Reading every single word, I can't see it taking much more than 10 minutes. Yet it counts for the daily.

Part 2 is 3 maps (all ground). It has an identical amount of combat as the first mission. It has more dialogue and more contacts. F'ing though all the dialogue, I can't imagine it taking less than 10 minutes. Reading everything, it should take 20-30 minutes. Yet it doesn't count.

I doubt 4 vs 3 maps is relevant as I've played several 1 map missions that count. Same for the not having a space map component. The only difference that I can see is that the first mission has around 50 ratings while the second mission has less than 10.

I've seen suggestions that missions may require more than a certain number of ratings before becoming eligible. If that's the case, I don't see how any mission would ever become eligible. The average player has no interest in doing a 20+ minute Foundry mission if it won't give them 960 dilithium.

Do brand new missions start out counting or not counting ? I'd check this myself, but all of my slots are full right now.

I'm guessing they start out NOT counting.

So we're right back where we started. Browser clogged with missions aimed only at the daily, host of players only interested in getting dil as fast as they can and ignoring the great content.

Only differences now is we have authors spending hours trying to squeeze one more minute out of their average time and begging their friends to play and replay. We have players who are farming the same mission over and over as fast as they can, thereby dropping the average time and disqualifying it and then they come and rant here.

Glad you're having fun, but I don't see a whole lot of other upside here.
I admit it's not a large improvement, but it is an improvement.

    This needs to change.

Add to this - we need to be able to see the metrics.

I see little point in publishing something or even trying, without having access to the metrics on how it is being played. How long are people playing it, how many people have played, if ineligible, why, etc.

Well one thing that is absolutely for sure is you need 5 reviews. You always needed this to be visible to the general population (i.e. anyone who hadn't checked the box to become a reviewer). Now, I think it is also using those five reviews to get the average time established to see if it counts or not. Any plays beyond five will start adjusting that avg time up or down.
