Are you still having fun?

The one thing all the data mining in the world can't quantify....and that is fun.My question to all of you is....are you still having fun playing STO? On a scale of 1 to 10,with 10 being the most fun and 1 being purgatory.....

For me....Season 6 - I had fun....about 7/10

Season 7 - it quickly dropped to 4/10
The PWE/Cryptic sweatshop...not where the game is made, but where the game is played!

    Season 6 - 4/10
    Season 7 - 7/10

I have a reason to do something other than run the same endless borg eSTFs now. Romulan events for marks, the new sector patrols, fleet actions. It's not perfect, but it's better than it was.

I'm having tons of fun in STO. When I stop having fun I do something different in STO, or I log out. More people should follow this mantra :D

Yep, just had an awesome pugmade vs pugmade private PvP 5v5.

Amazing game that had to be cut short because of time issues. But it's those encounters that remind me of how amazing this game can be.

I log in once a day to slot projects.

In season 6 it was a lot of fun I'd play for hours and hours on end, but now I don't bother with any of the games content beyond doing what I need for marks, hoping for better in S8.

    1/10

Season 6 : 8/10 - Fleet (6 members) progress was slow, but Nukara was enjoyable.
Season 7: 8/10 - Dilithium, is easier to earn now for fleetlings who arent level 50, dilthium is now rewarded for more entertaining content IMO, because doing Gorn minefield with buddies is a darn sight funner than those exploration missions. Also, new romulus is fantastic. Reputation is meh, but i kinda like it more than random drops. Dilithium seriously needs to be lowered though, 20,500 is not on for a XI beam array.

One thing i have done less since s7 hit, is visit the forums. Now 80% of posts are complaining/bashing cryptic, or moaning "ermahgerd grindfest 420 bwaa i want everything now", because it's only a grind if you make it a grind. I don't "Grind" infected space, because i enjoy it. They can be unpredictable, do you get shoved in with a 4man escort premade and basically sit back and watch whilst you do no damage compared to them, or do you get shoved in with 2 rainbow star cruisers and have to work?

I gave the game a try again this last weekend after being away from it for 6 months. I was yawning within 30 minutes.

PvE combat was boring to me. Each fight was exactly like the one before. No variability. It was a grind.

QFT at least in Season 6 there was the community aspect to Elite STF's. Now even that is gone.

Fun? No. Not as much fun as I had in Season 6.

Both of the Fleets I'm in are pretty much dead - I see maybe 3 other Fleeties online at best but most of the time it's myself and my Fleet leader.

STFs have picked up a little but there's still I'd say been a 70% drop-off in the number of games being run on PESTF - that and the quality (and manners) of STF players has dropped dramatically.

I log in, run around Beta Ursae and the Romulan sectors for Contraband missions, grind Narendra 5 times on each alt for Rom Marks, fill out my Rep projects and... that's it.

I might do a few STFs if there's any going (mainly space, ground is pretty much dead now) but other than that there's nothing really to do - oh, I go Epohh tagging if I can be bothered.

So I've started another alt and I'm taking her through all the early missions which is bitter-sweet since they've all got a story, they've all got villains and the sense that they're leading to something but of course, they're not - since they were made in a time when STO was meant to be about story and exploration and epic space battles which isn't the direction STO's been going in for a long time.

    Roll on Season 8...

Well for me it has to be like this ...

    season 4 .......8/10

    season 5 &6 ..6/10

    season 7.......4/10

Here is the main reasons why..

First......i Do not mind running content over and over but for every season to be the same content just re-hashed to be grinded differently is getting just silliy.

second...Forceing us to do (manipulating us) the content the way they want us to do it is unfair to the players.

third and finally the bugs in the game new ones and old ones are getting to be game ending stuff it seems they are more interested in making money than fixing these issues.

I for one would like to see a forum page where we could goto to see the problems they are aware of and working on whether or not hey have a fix i wouldn't care but seems like we are always in the dark about whats really going on.

Season 6 increased my playtime dramatically. I played for (too many) hours every single day. I was deeply invested in the game.

Season 7 also dramatically affected my playtime. I logged in twice for less than an hour apiece since it launched.

The Winter Event will get me to log in more, but only for that content. Not touching Season 7 with a 10 meter Lirpa.

Actually yes. I am having fun.

I am playing at my own leisurely pace, not worrying about reaching the finish line first. If a session of gameplay begins feeling tedious, I log out and do something else for a while. I do not look at anything in the game as something I HAVE to do. Anything i do, I do because I WANT to do it.

The game's not going anywhere. Why should I rush?

QFT because this is how I roll in STO.

The thing for me is I don't have many items I want so I was basically grinding stf for dil as my main gameplay.

I was getting tired of grinding stf so I switched to doing doff'ing.

I was hoping season 7 would bring out new items I'd really want, so I'd have a reason to play and instead it just took my main gameplay away.
Not only did they lock up stf but they also gave doff'ing a beating, terrific...

So now I still don't have anything to grind for but also lost my main in-come and gameplay.

I still like the game and yeah sure the winter event looks great.

It seems the players that are active in a fleet aren't that happy on the whole, and those who aren't part of a fleet or not actively, are more content with the game....or am I reading this wrong?

On a good day, it's 8-9/10. That's when there's good pickings in Ker'rat, I've got some of the Ker'rat applicable missions under my belt, and I've got some Nightwish on. Only reason why it's no 10/10 is because there aren't enough PvP reward missions. I ALWAYS end up killing far more feddies than the kill mission requires (which is 10). Make that mission an hourly repeat, and I'd be happy for now until they finally get more PvP content in, if ever.

On a bad day, I don't stay logged in. Usually because of cheeseballing feddies, lack of opponents in general, no missions for my Ker'rat excursions. . .or all three combined (with the few opponents being cheeseballing feddies).
My PvP toon is Krov, of The House of Snoo. Beware of my Hegh'ta of doom.

Don't admit you're having fun, or they'll start taking things away. The Ker'rat daily being the perfect example.

    Not as much as before.

I don't like feeling obligated to do grind daily for romulan marks AND fleet marks AND dilithium AND omega marks AND soon to grind winter stuff.

Too much grind kills the fun, i would say things will be better after the character grinds finish, but they will likly put in more grinds by then.

I make my own fun. I have pretty much had it with the grinds, though I do harvest some dil now and then (had to get back to 100k refined just in case I need it). There is other stuff to do that's fun. Speed running cold call just for the heck of it, making sure my jem'hadar ship's equipment is all mk xi purple to match the jem'hadar set, trying to contrive fun fleet events like the foot race on Risa (oh yeah, if you're not in my fleet that last one makes no sense), roaming around to the star clusters for the occasional support mission, and other fairly trivial yet semi-entertaining activities. I could wish for more activities that are not plugged into a grind system, but you find fun, or you make fun.

    Whoops, missed the rating: 5/10
I'll sell you some weapons from New Romulus. Never fired, only dropped once.

6.5/10, down some from S6, but not much.

Pounding out Omega rep is a bit of a drag, but at least now instead of feeling singled out because I had neither the patience nor skill for grinding Ground Elite STFs, I feel like I finally have a chance to get that fancy stuff. It's a good feeling, even if getting there is a bit dull.

I'm actually playing my third KDF alt now, though, which is something the previous seasons never compelled me to do. Yeah I admit primarily it's about Contraband grinding so I can pool dilithium for Mk XII sets, but I'm definitely having fun leveling him. Can't wait to open the freebie Bortas box he's had for nearly a year and stick him in it.

The only big downer about this season has nothing to do with this season, though. My fleets have really slowed down, due mostly to school and work during the fall and winter months. Over the summer we were keeping up fairly well with the bighuge fleets, but things have slowed to a crawl. So close to a T4 shipyard, too. >_< I WILL HAVE YOU, FLEET MVAE. KDF side is even worse; we're halfway to T3 in total, but Tac is lagging hard. I may never get my Fleet Corsair either. :C

I'm still having fun, but mainly because I'm still at tier 1 in my personal rep. Basically, I do very little of the grinding they implemented in S7 because I simply don't find it fun. I really wish they had better space missions to get romulan marks. Oh well.
