Heh.. I'm in the same ocean...different boat...

I need 450 Omega Marks to get the BORG Deflector (I got the other two parts of the set just before Season 7 hit with this particular toon)

Just played the game the way I like to play it for a little over three hours and guess what...

I got 15 from doing four of the Ground Deferi Missions (would have received 30 but the Momento mission is still bugged and wouldn't complete).

I did three of the space STF's (the Normal ones, I suc at doing them, I don't even try Elite)...
    that got me about 55...

I did a lot of DOffing.. that got me None.

    I tried the Tier II-Romulan Mountain Mission...Twice.
That bugged-out both times and I didn't even get any Romulan marks.

I did a couple of the Deferi Space missions and got 960 dilithium (I need 14,000 also, to get the deflector), but no Omegas there.

I also tried to do the Tholian Red Alert, but couldn't get it to pop for my toon.

At this rate I figure I'll have the BORG deflector in about two weeks...

That is if I decide to log-in to the game again any time soon.

Gold members also have a special perk that allows them to refine Dilithium automatically upon logging in, up to one previous week?s worth.

This is broken, auto refine doesn't work anymore, started at season 7.

    Dear Cryptic:

After a relatively quick re-read/skim (as I read the article months ago when it came out after you gave us Vulgta), I see that this is a re-link, without any kind of update.

This should be called "Dilithium Exchange 101", as it does not reference any of the key issues currently befalling dilithium, such as (but not limited to):
    1. The fact that only select missions/dailies/etc. grants dilithium
    2. The new places (aka sinks) that have been added, starbases, embassies, reputation system purchases - both store and project-grants.
    3. The fact that you expect players to play longer than the daily average within these "carefully selected missions that nobody wants to play otherwise" - and get nothing but dilithium and cheesy gear - in order to max out their capacity. During the big "explanations", you slipped that the metrics read an average of 3.5 hours play/day, and you gear the dilithium payout rate for 4 hours/day to max out...
    4. The fact that you are (quite possibly) attempting to sabotage the market by drying up many sources of dilithium that the farmers have been feeding into the exchange, so now the primary market suppliers are creeping the exchange to 1 zen = 100 dil (I expect any interest in the exchange to completely die if it goes below this amount) as the farmers still "expect" their X zen per Y hours invested, but with the new nerfs they are making less per hour so they sell less per Zen...

This could just be me, but I get the impression, especially with the re-linking involved here, that this is just a ploy to get the Dil 101 link back into the launcher so you can say "look, we're thinking of you casual players and your dilithium issues and here's how you supplement your earnings via the exchange. Of course, this requires Zen, the (semi) RL currency of the game..." (semi-RL because you consider the non-transferrable lobi as the "true" RL currency of the game as only the purchaser of lobi can spend it...)
Detecting big-time "anti-old-school" bias here. NX? Lobi. TOS/TMP Connie? Super-promotion-box. (aka the two hardest ways to get ships) Excelsior & all 3 TNG "big hero" ships? C-Store. Please Equalize...

to the person who said you can earn your daily in 1 1/2 hr you are right. Im afraid that myself and others in our anger and outrage have faild to make our point clear. by nerfing and shifting whare and how we can get the dill. yes we can scoop it up in 1 to 1 1/2 hrs. but what about the people who only have that amount of time to play????

they cant get it doing the content they like and enjoy. Insted they are forced to play content Ie. fleet actions (just as example not single out that alone) that they did not enjoy the first time around.

the biggest thing to hurt players like myself is the (officer reports daily) I could sign on take a toon down to accdmy do lore and officer and have almost 2000 dill 50 fleet marks and be done in 5 to 10 mim now 2000 a day may not seem like a lot but was enough I was then free to go play story missions hang at dronza an joke around with friends whatever.

on some days go run stf's and max out but not everyday cause after a time you just get borged out LOL. season 7 changed the dynamic of the game so drasticly that it just takes too long to do get anything done. now it is sign on and pick a grind.

i for one very rarely maxed out any toons daily limit and tho i have many alts i only on ocasion played more then 1 to 3 of them on any day. i did however always have fun. now not so much DS9 is ghost town stf's well all anyone dose now is infected space an leave. the comrodire is gone. fleet base slowed to almost halt.

I think the new romulus is cool and if wanted to do the reputation for it and that sector fine an dandy. i do however think that shifting the whole focus of the game to this hurry up and wait grind is wrong. adding incressed dill cost to players for so much then making it YOU HAVE TO PLAY THIS CONTENT OR NO DILL wether you like it or not is wrong.

so in close i love sto, but not as much. dont play as often as once did. i get bored and frustrated quicker with all the grind. and trying to get dill doing things i like as aposed to doing things i dont. im getting a grip on my anger (sorry for the many rage rants ive posted) now feel more dissapointment then anger. I hope some things get put back as they were and the grind is losend up some. as well i would stongly recomend a return to more imidiate gratification drops of decent value that one dose not have to compet for with whole team. basicly more fun less grind. thank you M

It isn't even the time, if I want to I can turn on full grind mode and pump out some dilithium. That isn't the point though, because when I'm doing that I'm *not having fun*. That's the point. I'm even fine with them making it take an average of 4 hours per day to hit 8k (which is wierd, I never play that much and I thought I was a "normal" player??).

What needs to happen though is the opportunities to gain dilithium at a rate of ~33 dilithium per minute spent actively doing something.

They could make short doff missions return more dikithium. They could make story missions award dilithium based on average completion times. Anything!

Honestly, they should just go through and average the completion times for everything in the game and give whatever activity that is a dilithium award that meets that requirment. Then it would be fair. It encourages regular play, but it doesn't force you to grind content you don't like.

If they want more cash, link that up with gold status somehow. Make the current system work for silvers, with specific content that has specific dilithium rewards that change on a schedule, and for golds everything rewards dilithium.

The only downside is that they would actually meet their stated goals of dilithium generation. Sadly, I think that's why they won't do it, because their stated goal of making dilithium generation more equitable and related to a "time based currency" is not the real motive. The real motive is to encourage Zen sales by giving "valid" dilithium opportunities that no-one *really* wants to play. That way they can point to them and say, "look, you don't *have* to pay Zen for this stuff, you can do all these missions!", even though they know most casual players won't *want* to spend their daily gaming session playing the same ten missions over and over and over day after day.
