Both you and Hereticknight085 have made it clear that neither of you play elite STF, it's quite obvious in your comments, but to sum it up, everyone I know is dying non stop (vets) people are constantly complaining here and in game, different builds don't help, team fortress is a non factor (I have the steamrunner, used the console on a few different ships as well, and in conjunction with others using it)

I find your misinformation hilarious. Ask ANYONE in the PublicEliteSTF and EliteSTF channels on Holodeck if @hereticknight085 plays elite stfs. My two tags I commonly use are Krakmonkey@hereticknight085 and Mok'dar@hereticknight085. They will tell you that I play lots of elite stfs. And I have no issues with the Borg being this powerful. So please, get information before making baseless accusations. In fact, I can post a picture of a screenshot of my many STF accolades if you wish as well.

Just out of curiosity, how many people here are using the Assimilated engine/deflector with MACO/HG shield setup? The Assimilated set was changed with S7, the console removed from the set so in order for the Regen to proc you need the shield equipped.

Without the free heal and resistance buff you might just be noticing the damage more.

I changed my setup a few weeks before the patch, in prep for the new season. While I won't pretend like the sky is falling like some of the guys in this thread, the extra damage being reported is legit.

the only problem with borg is the 1 shot normal plasma torps. they are mind numbingly easy to deal with just like all the other npcs in the game other then that.

Krakmonkey? yeah I can understand that, because you must be on it if you think dying every 30 seconds is fun in a video game... and don't tell me u dont die that often because if youre playing elite stf, u are, everyone is, whole teams are, so stop with the BS. Getting tired of reading your pro-cryptic/PWE rhetoric.

Oh, and i still want to do some elite stf's with you. I want to count how many times you explode. Tag is @megacharge, pm me in game, ill be on later tonight.

It appears that the Borg now have rather absurdly high shield penetration in STFs. Without ever losing a facing in my shields, my battlecruiser ended up with 10% hull left at one point. What is going on? Is this a bug? Is this intended? It feels really wierd to see your hull falling apart while shields aren't even below 50%.

Its called the PeterNorth-of-Borg cannon. Resistance is Futile.

[Combat (Self)] Tactical Cube deals 38538 (54856) Kinetic Damage to you with Plasma Torpedo.
You can't really say this is "working as indended", can't you Cryptic?

I actually like where the Borg are now, roughly - I like having to keep an eye on my hull and think about when I should fire off a Hazard Emitters or Eng Team etc, or if I can resist it enough to save my heals for a big chunk of damage. However the damage is slightly too much.

I think though that either their DOT damage should be reduced 10-20% or something so though we can at least have a reasonable chance of offsetting the damage with a Hazard Emitters, or Eng team + damage resist buff or something.

But the increased need to take care of my hull is nice.

Complain all you want. I am not pro cryptic or PWE. I find what they have done to this game offensive tbh. The GRIND portion. Making the Borg actually dangerous? That I approve of, and believe that it's actually months too late. And I will tell you that I don't pop real often. Probably because I actually pay attention to what I am doing. The teams I roll with don't pop very often either. On any given ESTF (other than Hive Onslaught, that one is amazingly destructive), teams I roll with that we pre-make (or pre-made I should say, can't do that atm courtesy of the removal of private queues) usually have a single digit death count. For the whole team. You know why? Cuz we know each other, we work together, and we pay attention. I have had MANY runs post S7 post Borg remodeling in which nobody died. The entire STF. ISE, KASE, CSE, I have done runs of all of them in which nobody bought the farm. A few came within sight range of it, but nobody died.

If it weren't for timezone differences, I would accept your request to see me in action, but alas, I doubt that will be possible.

I don't mind the Borg being tougher, but the current mechanic of shield penetration means that for escorts, 2 piece borg becomes essential, which is something I thought Cryptic wanted to get away from. My cruisers can tank well enough with other sets, but my escorts definitely need the hull regen bonus.

No it was the Deflect + Engine + Console + Any of the better shields combo they were trying to get away from. Atleast from the blog they posted way back about it atleast.

The problem with this is that this isn't a TV show, this is a video game. Video games are played because they are fun, when games lose their fun factor they stop getting played, if you happen to be running an MMO you need players playing your end game content and if they are not having fun they won't be playing for long, and the less time they spend on this game, means they will spend less money.

I'm all for the Borg being tougher, but in reasonable sense.. The death fest going on now is idiotic from a gaming point of view, the Borg are OP and sheer overkill, STF is no longer fun, I play one elite STF just to get omega marks, then I don't play for a few days. No fun.

Dude, it's not that hard. You and your vet friends maybe need to take a look at their builds and play styles to make adjustments. Do you have Hazard Emitters? A supplemental hull heal(AtSif)? Are you aggroing everything within range because your hitting everything with AoE? I'm telling you right now that you sound ridiculous to anyone who is even mildly competent at the PvE in this game.

When I run STFs, I only do elite.

That being said, I have noticed a fairly sharp increase in the damage I am taking in them, mainly from the plasma dots. I have also noticed that there is something that blows right past my shields, and clobbers my hull when I get too cheeky with a gate. I used to fly figure eights through the center of a gate s6 with my Wells/Korath science time ship. Gates can now one shot me through full shields.

Is this a bug? Maybe, or it could just be that the borg are no longer a pushover. I now use a little bit of caution, and change my tactics. As a result, I don't die as often (now I only die when hazard emitters is on cd).

I happen to like it now that elite stfs are actually a challenge (outside of having the challenged on my team ).

People need to modify their gear and tactics in the meantime, and adjust to the increased damage.

It would be nice though if there was an additional reward, or better drops to go with the increased difficulty. :D

This is how most of my STF runs go, from an RP perspective

    Tactical, fire all forward weapons!
    Helm, one quarter speed forward
    Rapid Fire those cannons son!
Helm, attack pattern beta one quarter speed reverse
    Helm, one quarter speed forward
Gimmie a torp spread, oh and helm one quarter speed reverse

    Its kinda, silly.

omg this made me laugh....thats exactly how my STFs go !

There's certainly something up with hull damage but it's not constrained to Borg/STFs. I just flew through a Gorn warp plasma cloud in a fleet alert and the plasma DoT almost killed me from 100% hull. Previously it'd take about 25-30% hull from me.

STFs are tougher, as others have noted. One thing I know for sure is that the gate's cutting beam ignores shields completely. This may have always been the case and I'm only noticing it now due to taking more hull damage from it.

Most annoying are the invisible torps of doom. So many times Brace for Impact might've saved me if I'd seen it coming.

They also said they didn't want a combination that was clearly better than everything else. IMHO they should make the borg do more damage to shields rather than higher penetration. That would be easier to balance.

It's back to the way it was, a bit harder, which is good, but the devs have fixed it.. I hadn't played STF in a few days due to the faulty damage tables, so I guess they fixed it during the time I had stopped playing, hence why you guys aren't noticing anything, that's because the damage tables have been fixed. You guys obviously missed out on experiencing the damage tables when they were screwed to hell or you wouldn't being saying the things you're saying, and looking like fools and liars to those of us who knew what we were talking about when we said there was a major problem.

Thank you, to the devs who fixed the bugged out damages and making elite STF playable, fun and a bit more challenging again.

I have a tac operating a fleet defiant. I tried switching to 3 piece borg mk11 today. Now mind you, I run no aoe(crf+thy)omega 1 and 3, a hazard emitter and atsif1. I have no survival problems until the Gates and Tac Cubes.

The Gates and Tac Cubes have massive firepower. Coupled with a DEM and no shield can protect you. Unless you have a really well played cruiser to tank that stuff for you its pretty much pew pew til aggro and die, die fast that is.

My Tac Ody with engineer captain can aoe tank that stuff, it dose not mean he never dies, but he can stand the pounding much better than any escort.

I think the days of escort tanking elite Gates and Tac Cubes(not spheres and normal cubes) is over.

Now just give us players rewards for running something other than Infected.

Dilithium has returned to STFs... but man those isometric charges in Assimilated Klingon ships in Cure are a pain.

I did notice that running 2 versions Hazard Emitters helps... so does the Steamrunner Class console to help with bleedthrough for the team on Elite STFs.

Just to add to this. Most has been said so hears it to hoping the devs are listening. We noticed the change in stfs. Congrats they are a lot harder next time a heads up would be wonderful. Wait.... I find it very hard to believe you FORGOT to put that in the patch notes so I am assuming that the damage is a bit off. Sense patch today 11-21 finding it very hard to stay connected to the game too. Good luck in the fixes keep up the good work. Please give better patch notes if this "issue" with stfs was intended.

Didn't you hear? The next few patches are going to nerf the Borg back to what they were in mid S6. Before the AI and weapon upgrades. Basically back to the weak slime yall are used to facerolling. So congrats, all your whining and complaining has paid off.

Please stop whining about the Borg unless its bug related guys, Into the hive is fantastic (though the rewards for completing it are disappointing)

I've only been playing this game 2 mouths or so and "Into the Hive" is the first truly challenging mission I've seen, yes by all means fix the invisible torpedoes or explain what video settings we should be using to minimise the effect but DO NOT NERF ANYTHING FOR THE SUPER WHINIE WAH WAH BABIES!

if you suck so bad play infected, also this isn't aimed at you guys getting shot though your shield, I've had that happen a few times and it blows.

I agree the borg changes need to stay or if its idd gonnna be back to s6 borg at least put something like more shield power on them...

When i first encountered the borg on this game i killed it so easily that i just said in front of my pc this is the big scary borg we have seen in the ST series, the terrifying beings that got the galaxy on red alert...(in exeption of the undine) too easy...

Now they give me a run on them the shield neutralizer makes the job quite challengeing which i like otherwise its like oh noes their tractor beam... reverse shield polarity and the shields are back at 100%... with the shield neutralizor that doesn't really happen anymore lol

Obviously you don't fly a cruiser.

What use is a tank that dies in two hits?

Even a completely screwed up cruiser build should be able to last longer than that. That is not currently the case.

    THAT is good news.
I guess having Omega/MACO/KHG/Borg sets will actually mean something again.

AND, if we wanted a REAL challenge ;) , we could use Tier 3 and 4 ships...instead of this 1 shot invisi-kill thing that's ruining STF right now.
    NO to ARC

I have a suggestion. Maybe we should have the elite stfs but on an easier mode where the mission is easier. We can even call them normal level stfs!

As for the people who get blown up, have you considered changing your boff build to fit the mission? Or the way you fly your ship? If you can play these elite stfs where some or all of your team don't get destroyed maybe it's something that you need to work on. I mean, if your team mate can last an entire match and not get destroyed maybe you should figure out what they're doing differently.

Become a better player and not make the game easier.

P.S. yes fix the invisible torp, it shouldn't be invisible
