PvP Boot Camp: An Exciting Update

Dear Fellow PvP Players:

I am thrilled to share that Brandon has contacted me expressing great interest in helping Boot Camp develop. Brandon and I are in agreement that this should be a community-wide project and involve as many people as want to participate.

For my part, I am currently putting together a semi-formal proposal that Brandon will circulate to the developers whose work overlaps with PvP.

While I work on this front, then, I need help from you in filling a few roles:

- Advertisers: possible jobs include creating a Boot Camp logo, contacting various podcast organizations/blogs, etc.
- Coaches: main job will be to teach new players who attend the Boot Camp sessions.
- Organizers: possible jobs include working with technology logistics, administration, etc.

Some of you have already indicated interest in some of these areas in the previous post , and there is no need for you to do so again. Once this list begins to fill out, I will post it in the forums.

Indicate which role you are interested in a response below. Also, if there is a role you would like to fill but that is not found in the list above, please just say as much in your response.

Fellow players, this is an incredible, grass-roots opportunity for us to partner with the devs to improve the quality of PvP.

    I, as an MMO player, have never really been one to PvP. It's just not my thing; I don't like it, it doesn't like me. This has been my status quo for some time. However, this game is different. Especially in space combat, STO has the potential to be a great PvP system if its worked on. I support this game as much as I can, and if PvP will help STO grow, I'm all for it.

    I don't believe I could fulfill a role or anything, but I'm at least interested, same as the other post.

    Though if you need a Klingon to show Feds what to do and NOT to do in Ker'rat, lemme know.

    In all seriousness, I doubt I'd be much of a coach, but maybe a teaching element. Y'know, how to possibly detect cloaked ships and counter them effectively or something.

    *shrug* Just brainstorming a bit, I'd guess this boot camp is about all areas of PvP, perhaps this is just a silly idea, but I thought I'd toss it out at least. Do my part in my own 'evil Klingun' way.

    Obvisously ill be signing on as coach and will beusing my guide for the intended camps.

    Why the guide hasnt been stcikied yet is beyond me.

    Excellent. As I said earlier, I really like the guide. You may have noticed that I suggested that your thread be given a sticky note. Why it has been overlooked is also beyond me.

    In any case, I am glad to know we can count on you to coach. I assume you know others who might be willing to help as well. Please direct them to this thread. Thanks again.

    I'd be more than happy to help Sargon, I can give lots of advice and tutoring on escort basics as well as how to be an effective Tac full stop. I can also probably record some stuff and throw it on Youtube so that as many people can learn as easily as poss, rather than just the lucky few.

    I would need to check out with other fleet buds and check the OrgPvP channel for that. Ill be instructing in general combat, so you might want to get other coaches for captain and even ship spesific training.

    Edit: You too might want to talk to klink players as i assume they have an entire different strategy for their side. Talk to Keg (T`lol) among them.

    You forgot a role Target dummy :D, which I can do if needed.

    Not sure how this is going to work. But I have a very tough team healer ship that could easily be shot at buy 3-5 "New" PVPers. I bring lower levels of torpedo or energy damage, whichever is needed.

    I am at @allenlabarge in game if anyone wants to test me out. I know I don?t PVP much these days.

    well if you need me to help out with Escort Training just let me know i will do whatever i can. Someone needs to teach these Young whippersnapper how to Balance there sheilds :D

    Ooh, I didn't think of being a target dummy. Both of my engineers would make excellent target dummies, I wouldn't mind being one. :D

    I'm alway down do coach some ppl I play mainly sci/sci with a real build none of the cheese stuff most sci Capts do. I really like the idea my fleets pvp training program has really taken off I've had about 12 people each time I do it join and even people form outside my fleet have been joining.

    I will volunteer for Coach or Organizer

    Mainly coach.

    I can specialize in the Dreadnought ship (prob not as good as afterburner :P) but anyone who wants specialized training in it, I'm your man.

    I know the PvP basics and then some. Space or Ground for that matter.

    I'm willing to do whatever to make this successful so contact me @starcommando101 or on here

    Sweeeeet! I also got permission from Branflakes to do a guest blog for the STO website. He even thinks he can get it published on startrek.com. So you and I need to talk a bit about putting together a promotional video, which we could embed into the guest blog. This could be a cool opportunity to get your work out to the whole Star Trek universe.

    Would also be good to have a webpage where (in a good organized structure) ship builds+skill point investments can be found. Im talking about some of the good builds posted for example in the cruiser thread etc, but without all the comments. Think about basic builds, but also more specialized builds inclusing doffs etc.

    That page could also incluse important pvp related links,information... like Hilberts guide or the table how skillpoints affect abilities.

    fortunately, Im not a web wizzard. Only suggesting things :D

    What do you think about the idea posted just below yours, drkfrontiers? Would it very difficult to use the site you are building as a centralized hub for PvP resources? So that people wouldn't have to transfer large amounts of text to the forum, perhaps we could just have a page of links or a place where people could upload docs. I am not sure about the mechanics required for such a site.

    I will send you an in-game email about the logo and video. Again, thanks for your lending the PvP community your talents?

    you'd have to put up with my "evidently too emotionally abusive" attitude though.
