More accurately, it didn't work as designed, if/when it worked at all. For Season 7, it was redesigned as the T4 passive Kinetic proc. With slotting it into an ability slot, we no longer needed to sell the items.

I have to say that's not good enough. Cryp had people believing that the weaponry was worth the price being paid for them and the time invested in getting the items to buy them.

Nice idea, but if we're getting a lousy deal on exchanging our EDCs and Salvage/Tech, what makes you think Cryptic has any desire at all to offer you anything for your old [Borg] weapons?
I would object if they set up a weapons exchange on a 2-for-1 basis. I'm not stripping all the guns off my ship to replace them with half the number it had before.
I think there seems to be a strong sentiment in this thread that is pointing to a lot of people working a lot of hours to grind for gear that is not going to get nerffed...but is not what we worked for. That is like selling a car that has A/C and no way to charge the system... Yeah, it has an air conditioning system, sorry, but you can't use it.
If we had all built around PVPs like the player mentioned above that would be one thing... but a lot of us built around STFs. Cryptic already said that PVP is fundamentally broken anyway...so most people stay out.
Automatic trade-ins for new variants or replacing [BORG] with a working modifier would both be OK with me. Doin nothing....well since I paid for lifetime I'm not gonna stop playing but I'll surely stop buying Zen to spend in the C-Store. I'll just save up the 500 a month I get.
Strange, I see the 1000 extra damage all the time when I use those weapons.
Shoot it at different types of Borg. You will find around half the Borg ships get zero procs while the other half have 100% procs. Assuming you use torps with the 100% proc chance. One of my bug reports in the fourms lists all the borg it works and does not work with.
Would be nice to see Roxy accepting trade-ins for these post-S7, choice of additional little crates or instant dilithium, perhaps?

Communication has been abyssmal. Of course they'd only be communicating with a very small subset of their playerbase. The canaries in the coalmine so to speak.
They said their peice, now they're doing something more productive than arguing.
I didn't realize that sitting back and laughing at us counted as "doing something productive".
Frankly it doesn't seem like they've been commenting at all lately since the forums decided to call them on any and all lies and or mistakes made taking the stance of "we just won't tell you since we can't tell you the truth." I like this game, i LOVE Star Trek, and the devs really seem like nice people, but as a company Cryptic just says what ever it thinks people want to hear, even if it's not true.
In all honesty, most people wouldn't be mad at this if they just gave us the option to upgrade it to a different proc of equal value or something, but more than likely they wont even take the time to make it right by the players and ignore it all over again. I honestly appreciate Borticus taking the time to read this and comment, but at the same time i really hope they don't just leave us hanging like that.

Getting tired of people calling them the best weapons in the game. They are not, as one of their modifiers only proced 7.5% of the time and then we find out that half the borg aren't even classified correctly so they didn't even proc on nearly half anyway. Standard purple MKXII weapons with regular modifiers will preform better. Also fleet weapons are better... I win SB24 effortlessly by a far margin every time and even when joining late (like half way into the killing of the first 50 klinks) according to ACT in my fleet patrol escort with fleet weapons... even when flying along side a bug...

what bothers me is that this opens up an entire can of worms of "working as intended?". As it stands i've never really seen much out of my traits which all give extra damage, and even in the new rep system, i'm not really getting any noticable bonus out of the new traits there. Adding 30 points to something SHOULD at least give some kind of difference, no?

The super space shield heal is tempting over the proc ability. I find that there isn't a clear winner for me at T4. Amazing stuff.
They'd leave the Borg weapons alone. I still have them. The [Borg] mod still doesn't work, but they were essentially "welfare" antiproton weapons anyway, gotta have a draw-back somewhere.
I'll replace them with Fleet MkXIIs eventually. But in the mean time, they were good welfare weapons for progression. A tad sad to see them go.

They aren't responding much anywhere because they are in panic/patch mode after the disastrous S7 launch. Devs don't get much free time when they have to redo all the work again because of poor design decisions.

They're far more available and cheaper to get compared to MK XII [acc]x3, particularly for energy types like Anti-proton. [dmg] may be a weak modifier, but it's stacked 3 deep, with a 4th mod on top. If I'm understanding things correctly, the base DPS of a weapon is influenced by the rarity of the weapon, and fleet weapons are ultra-violet rarity pushing the base DPS higher than what you can get on the exchange. All in all, pretty nice for PvE. If you're wanting to constantly hit and crit fast high-Defense escorts in PvP, yeah, probably not your cup of tea unless you have something boosting your targeting.
I just tested some [Borg] beam arrays and quantum torps in ISE. Beam arrays did Chaotic Particle damage against all possible enemies, even the generators, transformers and the gate. The was no Chaotic Particle damage from torps, but I guess the [Borg] bonus for them is included in their Kinetic damage.
Can someone please tell me where these Borg that are not classified as Borg are located so that I can test them?
what cryptic saying about its the passive kenetic is a total lie they are two different things i have parced it and the borg proc is the kayotic partical stream.
