Removal of all borg space weapons

allocaterallocater Member Posts: 289 Arc User
Ok, the costs of the Borg set increased, but you get them guaranteed and pay dilithium. Fine.

But removing all Borg space weapons from the shop?! Is no one aware of this change yet?

If you don't want a programmer to enter all 144 borg space weapons into projects, just leave the space weapon shop and give as one project that generates a requisition for it...

And now please join me in a moment of silence while we remember and show respect to the weapons that will no longer be available.

Well the [Borg] proc never worked correctly with half of Borg not being classed as borg. I guess they gave up trying to fix it and now there is little chance of it being fixed for those of us who still have those weapons. :(

Yeah, most people currently testing probably won't care until they level a new toon that the Borg weapons are gone. It's going to mean that a lot of newbies are going to be under-geared far longer than under the old system. Only a few options from the replay rewards (OK if you're cruiser but their are no turrets for escorts) and most won't be making that much EC to grab things from the Exchange. In the time the first Omega Reputation project takes to cooldown, I'd have had the full Borg set and several [Borg] Mk XI weapons from starting with mixed mark gear and enough EC from end-STF loot drop to help fill in the consoles.

More accurately, it didn't work as designed, if/when it worked at all. For Season 7, it was redesigned as the T4 passive Kinetic proc. With slotting it into an ability slot, we no longer needed to sell the items.

So what happens to the existing [BORG] weapons? And how does this new ability work/come into play? Any chance of some insight for those of us who haven't maanged to get that far in testing? :)

Makes sense. Either waste a bonus on a weapon for a proc that doesn't work all the time for a specific enemy or the choice between a proc that deals damage to all enemies or increased shield regeneration. I would rather go with the choice of powers.

It would appear that they remain as-is but with discontinued support for them (ie. they fall outside the design goals of the new system), it would be nice if they could be handed in for marks or standard purple weapons.

Is the suggestion then that, with the loss of STF weapons, we are supposed to be turning to Fleet weapons instead as 'top tier'?

I actually think that's probably a better way to handle it, although I can see people objecting to the fact that their fleet might not have Elite fleet weapons for a while.

I don't use that gear any more
    fleet store elite gear

the old gear need a boost to be more in line with fleet gear

fleet gear is far better than old out dated stf store

If the borg proc is becoming irrelevant can we have the weapons given a mod that is actually usefull to repalce it?

For example change a MK XII [Acc] [CrH] [Borg] weapon into [Acc] CrH] [CrD], or even [Dmg] would be ok.

The new kinetic bonus is a nice ability.

Unfortunatly so is the other T4 choice. 1000 shield regen every 6 seconds. Think about it.

At 100 weapon power (easily attained with EPTS 1) thats 4 time your ships shield regen rate. Probably pushing 5000 shields per 6 seconds. Thats a hell of a passive recharge rate.

Thats gonna be a really hard choice when you get there.

    What's the new mod then?

Don't tell me nothing has been planned and that there is a ninja nerf on our hard-eaned stuff so that we're forced to buy stuff from the shops to get purple weapons instead of faked blue ones. :D

Well, except that these are a source of MK XII weapons for players that have at least halfway decent mods without being forced to go through the fleet stores.

The fleet stores both require a fleet, and also require you to use DMGx3 on your weapons.

DMGx3 is easily the least desirable mod due to the low damage increase they grant and the fact that they do not scale across damage types.

You will be missed Mk XII Borg Weapons. You have armed so many of my ships faithfully, made testing out builds so simple. You were always their on DS9, just two npc conversations away. But I know at the end of a long hard Rep Grind I will find you reborn Mk XII borg weapons, stronger for your journey into the unknown! So I will not say good bye, I will simply say fair well. For we will meeting again.

THIS ... please. I have a lot of effort and time invested in my collection of (borg) weapons.

My suggestion is to make the radiation proc work on all enemies. Would make the (borg) weapons also relevant in PvP.

In other words, leave the weapons exactly as they are but change the code so the (borg) proc is "7.5 chance to apply radiation to enemy target"

P.S. Please devs answer this, as my nicely OP PvP setup is rendered sub-bar if my purple mk xii weapons only have two procs.

    WTH?
    NOW you tell me that?

i went through all the trouble to replace all my previously collected purple XI gear with [Borg] gear, and now you tell me that thing never worked? so i replaced weapons with weapons that do the SAME? *facepalm*

and now that you let the cat out of the bag that the items are indeed broken, there will be NO FIX? Instead you tell us to re-gear once more?

not cool bro, not cool at all.

that i could accept, but those would be TRUE Mk XII purples, and i have a feeling that the Dev's don't want us to have them.

Think about it, the DMGx3 fleet weapons are a joke, good but nothing anybody would want if there were proper Procs.
The Borg Items had a proc that only worked on one NPC type, therefore were fake Blue (and now i hear the Borg Proc wasnt even working? lol)
And in the dilithium store they sell purple Mk XI, which are basically the same as blue Mk XII

so everything is one balanced by math level of items.

I don't think they will ever hand out true 3 Mod purple XII Space Weapons, because then the other types would be a) outclassed, and the next update would REQUIRE Mk XIII items to outclass the current ones.

Instead they make *variations* of everything... including those LockBox Hybrid weapons, which are also no better than the usual 3 Proc Purple, because those are purples with 2 Procs but only 2 normal Mods.

Everything is the same level of effectiveness, and if ONE is upgraded to a true 3 Proc Purple XII, everything else would be outclassed by it.
So either you have a crying Playerbase (who storms the STF queue to re-gear), or Dev's who have to update/upgrade all kinds of items retroactively with no return of investment.
Well at least the LockBox stuff would get updated, don't want to make the #1 paying customers mad if their LockBox items would suddenly be outclassed.

I agree, you should still be able to buy Mk 12 purple space weapons from omega faction, hell even a variety from rommie faction. Even if they are limited in type (ie plasma/whatever)

This is totally the wrong way about doing this. I hope you guys are going to update our now useless weapons with a proc that is useful......

The borg proc was always irrelevant, and I don't think current borg weapons need a buff. Leave them as they are, with a crappy useless proc IMO. Upgrade to fleet weapons if you care that much :D

I personally liked the proc on my photon torpedoes....cause it had 100% to apply...and my dual photons with 3x projectile doffs were rather nice....

Oh well, one less reason to bring torps.

If you offered them and the [Borg] modifier practically never did anything, then why keep them in the game?

Could you at least consider working on the [Borg] weapons to make them work for those of us who thought they did? Either that or perhaps put an NPC at DS9 where we can convert our [Borg] weapons into Dilithium and/or Marks so we can rid ourselves of our "malfunctioning" equipment?

So long as people take the T4 ability. What if people decide on the Shield Regen buff instead? They miss out on the Borg kinetic buff?

Also, will Directed Energy Modulation affect/improve the buff, or will it be unrelated?

Which they never had. Yes...that seems reasonable, doesn't it? You get to make a choice between an offensive and a defensive buff.

BUMP in hopes of another dev response.

TBH the more I think about this issue, the more it bugs. For the most part I am 99% on board with S7 and the dev team regarding the changes that will happen. THIS is something that I think we have 100% agreement on, that the weapons we spent on that were thought to be the best PvE weapons going, are not.

Seems a simple fix that would have 100% support from the community.

(having to regrind for rep doesn't seem so bad if at least the multiple sets of MK XII space and ground weapons I already have are still worth something)

That being said. Is there any proof the new proc works? For all I know, this new proc could be just as broken as the last one and absolutely no intent to fix it. Was the proc purposely broken to make the new stuff look better?
