I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
hmm im not complaining at all just wondering.. wouldnt be all these maintenances a lot smoother if there would be at least one (1) emergency server around which could step in such events ?
tho i am not aware of how much resources require the "master server" under STO just as i said im curious..
The problem is that it's hard to keep a real time mirrored set of servers and if you take one down to do maintenance, when it's ready again you would have to attempt to update it with the progress thousands of users have made in the other server.
Taking database entries from tables in one server which isn't yet updated and trying to transplant them into another server you've just updated, which may have modified a number of tables and rules isn't really going to work.
Maybe it's possible with a lot of work, but I don't think Cryptic know how.
probably there adding a hidden patch, like they did the last few times with the STF
they kept making changes but they never mention it on the patch notes.
i doubt they need 6 hours to patch something simple as they posted.
Too bad this weekend isn't the Tribble Test Weekend...
A bunch of us would get an extra hour to play.

Welcome to Star Trek Online. Here comes the wave of hate posts. Most of us have been here so long we stopped being surprised when this happens. We're actually more surprised when "scheduled maintenance" takes exactly how long they say. You'll get there.
Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, we've needed to extend our maintenance timeframe. The new ETA for the servers being back up is 12PM/ noon PDT. We're hoping to have it up before then, though, and if that ETA changes, I'll update the thread again.
We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Cheers,
Brandon =/\=
admit it dude somebody ****ed and is blaming the server
Really? because California has 37.5 million people.. Greenwich has that many or more as well?
Don't forget the folks in Oregon, Washington (state), Nevada, Vancouver/British Columbia (Canada) and part of Baja Mexico.

We will be bringing down Star Trek Online tomorrow, Thursday, November 1st, at 6AM PDT (click here to view in your timezone) for maintenance and to apply a new patch. Patch notes can be found here, and we expect this maintenance to only last for 4 hours. The test servers may also be unavailable during this time.
Thanks for your patience and understanding,

More then likely, and this is just a guess. I might have something to do with the overall changes on the Doffs and the ships. You know, has to be done right and one wrong bit of code and the whole thing goes straight to the gutter. So, it's highly probable when they redid the doffs, it caused some other headaches in the Doff system to appear forcing them to patch those as well.

Perhaps a more robust plan is required for next weeks release.

Actually there are more than in california or 2 little islands in pacific
btw why all pilots use gmt?
Im going to enjoy my extra hour of sleep!
I'd just like to know if we could learn the reason why.
I have a feeling though, that this might be some season 7 prep. Probably wrong, but who knows.
