I don't know if this is a new NPC ability, but I first noticed this last week during a KDF path of the warrior or whatever task. I had just entered combat with a Rhode Island (I think... it definitely was a Fed science ship), dropping out of cloak and nearly blowing it up before the screen suddenly paused for a second or two and the NPC magically appeared to the left of the screen instead of the right... and heading in the same direction. It's not like it jumped to the other side of my ship. My screen is facing forward, the enemy to the right of the screen and headed my way... then poof! It's on the left and headed my way. I didn't think much about it at the time, chalking it up to a strange rubber banding error or something.
It happened again, today, while fighting the named Tholian ship during the Vault: Ensnared scenario on Tribble. The named ship was practically right on top of me, about to pass by and then... poof! It was then nearly on top of me but headed in the opposite direction.
Whenever this happens the ship returns to full shields/hull. I'm not sure how often this "ability" can be used. The Rhode Island didn't last long enough for me to find out, but the Tholian ship definitely did it twice in less than 2 minutes. I'm also not sure whether or not other ships may have activated it... if they did, this seems a little OP...
What is this? Is this one of the new temporal consoles in action? If so, I'd like to be able to equip these consoles to any science ship. Also, if this is the work of the temporal consoles, the effect does not quite fit the description of what it should be doing. To have a ship change to a direction it was never facing... That speaks for itself. Is this some new ability to help NPC's "cheat" for higher difficulty? Is this a graphics issue? What gives... It's very frustrating.
Seriously praying that the Borg don't end up doing this too...
