If the mission is queued it stays queued until completed or replaced. If the mission is active then it remains active until completed and cannot be swapped.
Still waiting for the one that adds a pole to the stripper table. I'm counting on you, Tumerboy! A dancer doing the nerve tonic dance would suffice, pole or no.
Fireplace looks awesome, though. Finally, a KDF project I want my fleet to complete.
As a graphic designer, I've done 3D modeling, 10 seconds is an exaggeration obviously, but not by much. Pretty sure you can find that rug and fire/logs on KDF maps. But are we really making the argument that chairs and a table, and a bunch of logs is difficult and challenging to make? Really?
Kinda sounds like you need to join the Cryptic dev team and show em how it's done...
Maybe we'd get some free and super awesome changes if you were there.
Ah, well, I guess to do what you really want you'd have to be in charge of PWE and/or CBS and/or Cryptic, so I guess we're stuck with the poor Developers doing what they are told to do for now, huh?
Ah well, carrying on as normal until then...

i concede the fed chairs are a copy and paste job. thats fine.
you still have not told me how long it would take to create one kdf chair with its little details, one mugato rug, the bone skull, the table (however basic), the fire and logs and do his copy and pasting. i still want to know how much time we are adding to that initial 10 seconds.
and the implementation part is still important to whole the process, and i dont think that can be ignored. i respect the guy who sits down and codes it all in and does the boring bit as much as the artists who makes them.
I'll save you the waiting the 30 second load times to visit your bridge. Here's mine!
The KDF upgrade looks pretty nice, but that FED one is terrible. Cheap and lazy copy/paste job. As much as I'd like to rant about what they should do instead, its pointless. STO is only here to keep Cryptic afloat while they work on Neverwinter and if you don't believe that, ask yourself why they ignore all the community feedback and why there are only about 5 people maintaining this game.
It's nice. We as a fleet will do it as we have the rest.
But it's soon going to reach a point where we want PRACTICAL extras. We're well into Tier III now and dilithium is beginning to dictate project times. The necessity of a bang for our buck needs to be addressed Cryptic. Give us things we can use.
Also please don't neglect the exterior of the starbase. Give us things actually happening and changing. For fleets that will have spent hundreds and hundreds of potential pounds/dollars on their bases thus far. I think it's time you used that to make proper decks like the Science, Engineering & Tactical floors that are custom made, not just copy-n-pasted rooms from already existing areas. It's plain to see the Engineering deck is actually Cap's Table, it's obvious the Tactical deck was used for a couple of missions involving the Klingons and the less said about the sci deck that is in fact a deck from your ships jumbled up, the better.
Fleets are putting a lot of time, organization and resources into these grind fests of yours. The LEAST you can do it make it worthwhile. Get Tumorboy to get off his TRIBBLE and give us a starbase, not just an "Ops" deck.
Kinda sounds like you need to join the Cryptic dev team and show em how it's done...

Which leads us to another point, 200k for Fire......... If I ever thought of a definition for the word scam, cryptic would probably be the first to come to mind.[/QUOTE
Actually, fire is also available in the foundry so it is not a new creation in game either. Haven't seen the rug though.

[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC] EXPLORE.
Dec '07 Account I EARNED 1000 days...I didn't BUY it! New LTS=Death to Vet.System: 10/10/12 Never Forget Something should be done for those who cared enough to have a 1000+ day sub.
I believe the Limited Time Projects should be both decorative and functional.
But aside from chairs you can sit in, I'm not sure what kind of functionality I'd want from a conference area.
Alternatively, purely decorational projects are way too expensive and ought to be cheaper. I understand the reasons for having Dilithium sinks in the game, but this stuff seems priced way out of range for small fleets to be able to sustain buying them.
At current exchange rates, this would be somewhere over 1000 Zen in Dilithium.

...but this stuff seems priced way out of range for small fleets to be able to sustain buying them.
Yep. If they had more of these projects (maybe even scaled down a tad) at a more reasonable pricepoint, they'd accomplish more as dilithium sinks. Big fleets would still snap them up and they'd be bought by more small fleets. As it stands, a lot of small fleets are skipping these projects entirely.
If they aren't bought, they have no value whatsoever as a resource sink.
People seem to forget the fleet credits ... which this project alone will provide enough of to buy ten fleet ships. From the look of it, these are for giving large fleets a big project that everyone can get credits from, instead of the smaller ones that can fill up before half a fleet can even log in.
My fleet has 80+ Fleet ships provisioned (I think 4 have been bought), the ships are just blah in my opinion. The only thing I use my fleet credits (over 2 million accumulated so far) for is white DOFFs to pump back into the Hungry Hungry Hipp... errr... Starbase. Fleet Credits are a joke in my opinion (why add so many new currencies after a bunch were removed just a season or two earlier because there were "too many"?)
As for these projects... Why wait 3 months to add something to the game that has been available since before the season even started? (the rug and fireplace were shown as the big draw for KDF bases since well before they were even on tribble and the table and chairs have shown up on the map, along with the dance floor and UFP Logo in the Transporter room, since starbases first came out. Seems to me, the reason for the 2 week intervals is so that it looks like new content is coming out regularly when it was all really made months ago and the designers don't have to worry about doing what the players want, they already have all the projects they are going to add made.
At current exchange rates, this would be somewhere over 1000 Zen in Dilithium.
$10 more than they would have otherwise.... (greedy gold-diggers)
Why make Z-Store stuff people want to buy and at a decent cost when you can just use dilithium sinks and over-prices per-char unlocks to make your money? Sure you are making tons of money now, but what happens when the majority of your players realize you don't care about them at all and decide to stop playing (or at the very least, stop spending money on this game)? I've had several friends who have quit STO and gone back to a subscription based MMO because at least in that they feel like they get their money worth (and have fun, rather than have mindless grinds). (and yes, I know grinds are all over MMOs, but some do a better job of hiding them in things people actually enjoy than others)
Would we prefer smaller costs for the scale of the project? The answer is overwhelmingly yes.
However, If you're in a big fleet (like i've ended up joining) you find a LOT of items are just GONE before you can contribute anything. 200k Dilith might look obscene (and it probably is from a pure benefit standpoint) But everyone in a fleet should get a chance to contribute not just the lucky few on line at a specific time.

Isn't that what the rest of the Special Projects are for???
Oh you mean duty officer hell where a player who may not be willing or able to pay for zen and stock up on 2000000023829387324987 duty officers can go and 'participate'?
I tell you you think the dilithium costs are bad? I think the market needs the drain. I can tell you its the 5000+ duty officers required that really makes it a pain in the TRIBBLE. I have a nearly full roster of DOFF's and i cant contribute a single one because none of them are the roles required right now. And they're the only things left to do. I try to keep room for the refugees colonists and prisoners i sometimes get. What fun that is. :P
Yes, we reuse assets. It is commonplace not only throughout the games industry, but in reality, in business, in industry, and even in Star Trek Cannon (both on screen and backstage).
We have made a lot of assets already. It would be idiotic to build a brand new chair every time we needed a chair. Just as Starfleet wouldn't get the corps of engineers to design and manufacture a new chair every time they needed a new chair. They would likely get some copies of a chair they already had the plans for.
That said, what you see is not 10 seconds of work, and Implementation does matter, as that often requires more time than the asset creation in the first place.
I'm sorry if you are disappointed with this project. Don't queue for it, don't spend your Dil on it, and save it for one you do like.
still 200K dilithium? I saw no price mentioned in the blog.
but 200K dilithium....for a table and chairs?
Does the table fly? Do the chairs magically conform to the body of whoever is seated?
If not...200k? for a table and chairs?
I'm getting a headache.
Seriously. Costs need to scale to gains.
It's a table and SEVEN chairs.
Let's be fair and say it's a REALLY good table and it's cost is 100,000 Dilithium by itself. That means each chair is over 14,285 dilithium.
200,000 Dilithium for this project jsut proves once and for all that these feature projects are little more than dilithium black holes. My Fleet will be passing on this one, just like we did the Security one.

I'm going to call you on this one! I'd like to s3ee someone at Crytpic do a feature on the full creation of something like a feature project. This goes from the copying and retexturing of objects, placement, testing (which you guys almost always skip out on), etc. Seriously! i want to see what actually these teams do other than make excuses for my Defiant still having missing textures along with most of the other ships, DX11 still in beta after how long, etc. If you take pride in your work. Step up and show us what it takes.
Finally! This is the one I've been waiting for since this all began. Now my senior officers and I don't have to use the ready room on the tactical deck for meetings.

The reusable assets you mentionned are not the main selling point in the other situations. There's a universe of difference between reusing a chair in a new episode you would sell and directly selling that old chair.

Seriously what proof is needed? That is the purpose of the featured projects. It's the purpose of the whole darn system. Do we have to get the Architect and Agent Smith in here to explain this TRIBBLE with as many words possible for some of you to get it?!?!?!?!??!
Irregardless of the fact that it's a DL sink to get the value of DL back up... I will happily hand over DL and clap like a freakin' seal, and do you know why??? Cause it's my DL and that's what I feel like spending it on and if you or the rest of these cry babies don't, I don't care to hear about it.
It's a status symbol... that we have TRIBBLE loads of DL.... Also, why does everyone complain about this when the projects go for 60 and 80k a pop and only give EXP, for those you truly get nothing of substance...
What they should do it put some new TRIBBLE in the DL store that wont be superseded by another store...
Not weapons that are basically useless now that Advanced/Elite Fleet gear is here.
Not consoles that are basically useless because better can be had via the DOff system and exchange by proxy.
Not ship equipment that are basically useless because better can be had via STF and crafting (though the Aegis needs either warp 14 or some other gimmick to complete with STF in my opinion)
Then perhaps I would have a choice and might spend more of my TRIBBLE loads of DL on stuff.

I'm wondering when player's can see these 6+ special projects ungated? When can we expect to be at this point in the system?
Consider the casual player fleets or those who won't even start a fleet until, say, January of 2013? Will fleets ever get the privilege of selecting any of these in whichever order they feel is more fun?
