Gryphon Warp Fighters

Is there any possiability of adding the Gryphon Warp Fighters to STO? They are from a fan project called Star Trek: Endeavour.

I realize that there is a Patrol Escort class called the Gryphon, but these puppies are too sweet!

Looks not unfamiliar to the fighters from the Star Trek Invasion game.

Problem is Cryptic will have to buy the rights for this fighters and have CBS approve them.

As much as I would love for those to be added to this game, I think that there are too many legal hoops that would need to be jumped through in order for them to be added. It's a shame, considering how cool they look, but someone else owns the rights to them. Except in the case of Cryptic buying the rights, which I wish they'd try sometime.

This game could really use some more... you know, up to date fighters and shuttles, though. *cough*Fo2409*cough*

They are sweet, but the problem with fanmade creations is that Cryptic would have to get the permission of whoever made them before they can even think of putting them ingame. Some creations are easier to find the artists to than others.

I would suggest contacting whoever made them, say you want to see these fighters in Star Trek Online, and then if the artist is interested, then give Cryptic the contact info and/or give the artist Cryptic's contact info. Who knows. Maybe the artist just wants the recognition and won't charge Cryptic for it.

I would love it if they would do that. They'd make a great 2409 update to the now outdated Peregrines, and would look great with the Armitage to boot. I don't care if I have to wait like with the Vesta, but so long as these actually make it into the game, it would be awesome.

I gotta admit, thats a beautiful design.

But like said above, unless it's an already existing Trek design and owned by CBS, it's not going to happen, due to legal hurdles. The Vesta and Luna were exceptions due to them being officially part of the Trek Novels.

Ah, of course there are legal hurdles, but I imagine whoever created these wouldn't be averse to their inclusion in this game. I think they are a sweet design and would purchase them myself. Perhaps if enough of us indicate interest, then Cryptic might possibly consider making a move on these. It's more likely they'd just design their own new fighters to avoid paying royalties or whatever, but...

Given those things are slightly modified Valkyries from Invasion (making them a drivative work)

    http://images.wikia.com/stexpanded/images/7/74/Valkyrie_class_fighter.jpg

my guess is the go-to would still be Activision.

Not sure they'd be thrilled to give those ships to a rival company.

Figures. I thought they looked like something out of their Star Trek Armada games. *sigh*

Still, there's interest in new fighters. Cryptic can still design their own.

might just be me. but it looks like the design originated from this : http://th04.deviantart.net/fs27/PRE/f/2008/175/1/1/VF_22_Sturmvogel_II_by_bagera3005.png

Well, it looks remotely like the Sturmvogel from Macross

(in its fighter form of course) but I think it's closer to the Vakyrie than the Sturmvogel.

All fighters in Macross were inspired from real world aircraft.

The VF-1s were from F-14s, the VF-22s from the YF-23, and the rest were based off the Russian SU-27 fighter.

So in this case, inspriation of one design, inspires another, and another. So it's all good. ;)

What is wrong with the peregine?
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

These look like someone modified the Valkyrie class fighter from ST:Invasion.

The Peregrine Fighters look rough. Some fighters that looked the part would help to drive sales big time. Fighters are already vanity ships, why not appeal to a person's sense of vanity?

I don't think they look too familiar to the Valkyries from ST:Invasion. Pretty much any aerospace fighter design will have common elements. Nose, wings, trek-style engines, etc.
