I have no issue with the new extend shields. [...] SNB still clears them all so who even cares that there is no ugly blue beam attached to the friendly target?
Here is a little secret: SNB doesn't clear Extend for more than a second. It is a channeled abilty and thus is reapplied after a subnuke. You need to shockwave (or otherwise disable) the person who is casting the extend to disrupt it. And this is why it is important to be able to see the source of the extend.
I just cannot help but imagine how this "its's always the first vacation, then they get another job" mechanic works.
1. Dev gets assigned to PvP forum duty.
2. Devs gets shouted at, mocked and insulted by some PvPers.
3. Dev develops a bad feeeling when going to his work, being insulted and shouted at and mocked every day, to the point of a yet mild depression.
4. Dev identifies the cause for this.
5. Dev saves his health by getting another job.

Just saying.
Your pattern analysis, is like always so very wrong. At least according to the last two devs that left.
See, the previous 2, got familiar with us as a whole. To the point they randomly came onto various vents of higher end fleets to talk about things. Hardly the attitude and stance of people that hate the community or want to leave because of it.
Said devs talked alot about non game, personal stuff with us too.
So yeah I believe it.
Your pattern analysis skills are lacking, and you're projecting your own disdain towards the community. Why are you here again? It certainly isn't to get better at the game or provide good intelligent feedback.

Surely when putting your own life mechanic into activation, we'd have gotten rid of you months ago, Sophie?

I just happened to be present on one of the most frequented vents during a few visits.
I only got to know one of the 2 previous devs fairly well. Cause of bigredjedi's efforts. Damnit I still miss ben
Is it me or has EPtA visual been completely removed? Used to make ship glow blue with whirling rings winding up and down the length of your ship (looked kinda cool I thought).
Now it has nothing, just the little icon appearing saying a buff has been applied.

It's there but it's so incredibly subtle that it's Stupid. There's like a little glowy ring on your ship thats like a faint red IIRC.
Between it and the new Extend graphic I was ready to just toss my hands up in the air and say "TRIBBLE this" for good, with uninstall following shortly thereafter. They can work on Stupid Stuff like this, but not even hint at addressing game breaking issues (like borked Resistance stats) but ohhh boy you get a Sign on a stupid TRIBBLE admirals door for their poorly written fanfic quests, or someone gets a hair up their TRIBBLE to change graphics, in such a way that it affects pvp balance and man they get right on it!
Actually Gozer used to visit our Panda vent on a weekly basis before he left for a brighter future elsewhere. He utilised our ability in game to balance the no win scenario.
Branflakes also visited our vent a lot as well to pvp with us.
Under no circumstances were they put in uncomfortable positions. He also used to enjoy pvping with us so your statement is completely off the mark like everything else.
Is it just me or has the UI gotten so bad that powers now activate with power icon not going on cooldown and no visual to confirm. I used HE on someone and never got the HE shower line, used TT and the receiver got the TT but no TT icon above the ship. The buggy UI is really starting bug me.
Hey I Used to be Captain Data, well I guess I still am in game but the account link really screwed everything up
Slow week on the PvP front, but we've been discussing some ways we may be able to increase the viability of Science ships, Science captains, and Science consoles. No solid plans yet, so nothing to discuss openly. A lot of the feedback from this forum goes into those discussions, though.
Just throwing an idea on the wall, tear to shreds as appropriate...
Thinking about science ships, captains and consoles, to help them stay relevant make the * Teams use/"borrow" crew. Tac team uses 10, science team uses 25, engineering team uses 100. And if you don't have enough crew, it lowers the effectiveness and/or time of the buff. 0 crew = 1/2 the buff and 1/2 the time, scaled linearly. The crew returns once the buff timer expires, just like a Boarding Party.
Overall, reduce the death rate for crew by 1/2. Give science captains a 2x crew heal rate. Give science ships an additional 2x crew heal rate. Give cruisers a crew death resist.
Give science team a significant crew heal rate buff, 5x and/or immediate crew revival %.
Give Plasma burn crew kill over time, helps make Plasma more viable (and Borg scarier).
To really make crew matter, link weapon damage and/or cooldown rates to crew. More than 50% crew - normal cooldowns. Every 5% less crew, increase cooldown rates by 10%. At 0 crew, cooldown rates double.
Pros:
Would make some consoles more relevant, like emergency force fields, and biofunction monitors. Give plasma a viable proc. Abilities that blind/immobilize gives players rageface; slowing down their cooldowns instead would not be as anger-inducing.
Cons:
Would make Theta Radiation pretty OP, unless the crew death rate is reduced. Team display would need to add crew bar. UI would need to add crew status audibles "Captain, we are at 50% crew!", etc. Additional stat to follow & track.

Slight problem with this... Most escorts don't carry 100 crew to start with. Also, crew attrition impairs repair/regenerate time. This would be completely unfair to escorts and problematical for anything but a large cruiser.
My views may not represent those of Cryptic Studios or Perfect World Entertainment. You can file a "forums and website" support ticket here Link: How to PM - Twitter @STOMod_Bluegeek
That's kind of the point - it makes Eng. team a heal that only a cruiser could deliver effectively. Tacs could still use Aux2Sif, and hazard emitters. But that big hull heal only comes from a friend transporting over a cohort of his best&brightest engineers to repair damage.
How many escorts run Eng team? Most builds I have seen run EPtS and Aux2SIF for the resist boosts.
Re: repair/regenerate time affected by crew attrition - Is this enough to even matter when you can get Aux2SIF heals every 15 seconds?

i'll keep that in mind when i make my next weekly update thread :P
And so it begins. This is how we lose pvp devs. it always starts with that first vacation. Got any hot job offers? :P
i guess you resigned your self to the fact that you are expected to show your face around here, and we expect a good excuse if we don't see you!
have lots of fun at PAX!
