I assume everyone's trying to rush so they can buy the Fleet ships, but unless you are into PvP the Fleet ships aren't really going to make much of a difference. In PvE, so you finish and STF in 14 minutes instead of 15. So what?

I never find much interest in the Season, unless they contain new Zones and Mission Content. Shooter Mode? Don't care. Difficulty Sliders. Don't care. Fleetbases? Don't care.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

It is my opinion that "this must not be allowed !" and " My way or the highway" attitudes are one of the aspects keeping some players out of those same Fleets.

The StarBases are intended to be a resource sink. If a lone player, or a small group wants to attempt it, Cryptic hasn't denied them the option. More bases, more sinks.

As far as making them more expensive for lone players, or small teams... if larger fleets are finding it difficult, wouldn't you think that a smaller Fleet find the grind even harder ?

    I agree.

I've found that I've had to change fleets several times since S6 came out purely because of the number of power crazed petty little tyrants that that have sprung up to push people to contribute then slap bans on anyone but their friends reaping the rewards.

While this certainly isn't the case with all fleets, I'd much rather be in a fleet of one than endure the underhanded tactics employed by some to turn the new game content into little more than a star base sweat shop for their own benefit under the pretence of being a community.

If people want to grind a one person fleet I say let them. :)

Well... as a fleet leader, I hope you find a better fleet, and say emphatically not all fleets are like that... it shouldn't be that way... if you have fleet credit, who is to say what you can or can not buy... I do have 2 ranks that are unable to purchase... but in all fairness, I let them know this before hand, part of the welcome email... and they are probationary ranks only... Recruit... and Prob Member... Prob members become full fledged (with purchasing ability) after about a week. (Just trying to avoid shop and dash).

Yes that is a pun which is intended. The grind is really wearing me down for fleet marks to the point that I am begining to hate the event - which is the only time I could do it - I used to be able to do it for 2hrs twice a day - now after a hour I just want to shoot myself in the head to stop the headache!
After doing it probably 50 times by now i know how you are feeling.

I am almost at tier 2 and that is a whooper upgrade - I will seriously have to consider this grinding thing after it is done.
My personal goal is to reach Tier II and get those advanced Space Weapons for my 1 man fleet.
I just don't see a justification to continue with that unproportional requirements to continue after that. Even if the Fleet assault Cruiser is coming out (which will be a Solo players, Cruiser Captains dream) i wont going to work on the Starbase, because the grind is just too rediculus, IMO.

Personally i thought that the requirements to build and upgrade a Starbase would be adjusted according to the number of players in a fleet. But since this is not the case Season 6 is just another of a long list of dissappointments, from Cryptic/PWE or whoever is running this game.

Are we all just hamsters on a wheel - are we grinding just so we can get better stuff to grind with? Whats the point?
I am afraid there is none... except to fill the moneybags of PWE.

i think the fleet base idea is a really good one. eventually bad fleets ran by tyrants will die out and good fleets will flourish.

an active medium size fleet can easily complete a project so the grind is not too bad. also with the upcoming changes that should help out on the grinding a lot, especially on doffs.

can't wait to complete tier 5 for those new fleet ships.

    ^^ This!

Seriously to any one feeling abused, misused, or that your fleet leader is not being fair... there are other fleets out there...

I had to remove the color its hard on my eyes - but I like the what you have to say.

Personally the cxp to FM addition has been a HUGE boost for me as a major doffer - frankly doffing is all I want to do with the game at this point so it is great - we will see how it goes.

other than that the costs have just been rediculous - as I have said before the imput cost could easily outfit a 5 person fleet with a nice lock box ship and a 2500 zen store ship each!!

I'm a little confused by something. I heard earlier today some were complaining that there's a time limit on building a base? AKA it had to be competed within a year? The gist of the complaints (not necessarily fact) was that PWE was trying to force people into larger Fleets?

I'd planned to start a small family and friend guild with very few people and thought the base could be a long term project to work on. But if they're going to put time limits on things AKA you have to be X tier or something then that prevents that from happening.Anyone know if there's hard locked time limits and what happens if you fail to hit Tier X within a year? Do you loose your base or is it locked into whatever tier you hit?

No, there's no time limit, and you can always tighten up your base if it gets loose.

Maybe this refers to the original intention to allow star base raiding. Maybe raiding will go live at a future date, and if you're not finished with a tier, you risk having tier progression knocked back to the previous tier level.

Star bases are time gated in that each project once resources allocated require time to complete. I remember a cryptic dev saying that in a case where you have 100% resources needed for every project available all the time, getting to Tier 5 on all parts would take like 7 months. All the time is just waiting for projects to complete after resources have been allocated.

Obviously everyone won't have all resources needed all the time so it'll take longer.

Your base will still be at the same level if you leave STO for a year and come back, it won't go backwards.

Ok. That's good to know. I've got a friend in a small fleet and they were talking about some time limit and that they were considering scrapping the project and/or the fleet in general. So wasn't sure why this was or how they got the impression as I figured that would go more incendiary on the forum than the other gripes that are.

There are "featured projects" that just spruce up you star base with nick knacks. Just aesthetic things. Those are time limited in that you need to have at least queued and started the project before the expiry time arrives. Once you start working on it you can take as long as you want to complete it.

Four hours a day doing the same event! I'm not surprised it's wearing on you. Take some time out to read a book or take a walk. Seriously - you'll enjoy the game more if you play it a bit less, I think.

The missions now ask for 600 feet marks, and the update to tier 2 needs 3600 fleet marks.
Al the seperate updates (mil, eng. and sci needs 1800 marks).
They are killing the fun with the endless grind, i can grind but for how long till i say, "I'm done, I go play something else ???".

I think they try to apply Asian MMO features (endless grind) to a Western market. I do not think it will work much in the end, and the requirements will be probably dropped. I play to have fun, not to feel like I'm having second job.
"Cryptic Studio’s Jack Emmert (2010): Microtransactions are the biggest bunch of nonsense. I like paying one fee and not worrying about it – like my cellphone. The world’s biggest MMO isn’t item based, even though the black market item GDP is bigger than Russia … microtransactions make me want to die.”
