We need more party themed social items

gardatgardat Member Posts: 280 Arc User
First up I just wanted to say how great the new lockboxes have been overall. Lots of new items that really add to the game ranging from vanity pets to fancy clothing. I was thinking that future lockboxes would be a great way to introduce more party themed items into the game. We already have party poppers from anniversary events which add a festive feel to social gatherings. So how about social use "deployable" items? They could probably draw from existing art assets in game too. I was thinking along the lines of this:

A holographically projected disco ball that rotates and projects light beams in a large sphere.

Some sort of party fog machine that emits fire extinguisher-style smoke, ideally colored in different lights too. It could even flash!

A deployable music item that plays the song from the nightclub on Earth Spacedock.

Portable fog generators akin to fire extinguishers that come in a variety of colors. Imagine being able to generate pink or yellow fog next to someone making fireworks!

Any other suggestions?

As long as there is a feature to kill all sounds and visuals related to them, I am cool...
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

Sure as long as they only work on YOUR starbase. I could go for it.

How about a Special Project for it? 200,000 Dilithium, 1,500 Entertainment Provisions, for lighting, floor, turntables, etc., and 50 Seismic Stabilizers.

I like it a lot, it shouldn't flash though, that has negative effects on some people. Otherwise gold.

I am in favor of this on condition that they write coding that limits the use of such devices to designated party areas.

They are fun toys when used in the right context. When they are spammed in the middle of a hall or around the exchange on ESD, the are just annoying.

The newest STO social item is here. Use that and a whole world of social options opens itself to you. Enjoy.

Unless their use is SEVERELY limited (in place/amount of use), well beyond the (absolutely no) limitations that exist now on such items then my suggestion is to never do this ever, and that no more "social items" be added to the game at any period in time for any reason.

We have "goon squads" specifically devoted to griefing people with these devices and they do not need more ammunition. Since Cryptic hasn't been able to deal with the problem players, nor problem devices that exist then the least they can do is not make things worse.

Not gonna lie I would pay in excess of 20 real earth moneys for a Z-store fire extinguisher.

I just had a few other ideas I'd like to see implemented as social devices.

You know those firework things you place on the ground and they spray out a little fountain of sparks? Yeah those, I love those.

Also maybe a chocolate fountain you can place and click to give you various chocolate covered food items. Maybe you could even use those to breed special Tribbles that may or may not be restricted to social settings, for example make you sparkle or do a dance, maybe even work like that flute in that other game that shall remain unnamed, that makes other people next to you dance.

Placeable lights would also be cool, could be Disco Balls or any other kind of stage effects, maybe add some Trek instruments you can play for sound effects and maybe the ability to throw together a minigame for a stage show.

Edit: Oh, maybe even some sparkly dancer outfits, Champions gave out some that looked pretty good for one of the anniversaries.

Social Chainsaw (allows you to cut the limbs off anyone using a party popper)?

You want to main your fellow players? That's pretty dark and not very Trek. I like the birght and sparkly things.

Edit: Also while I see sparklers and party poppers used in social settings I have never heard of any that use chainsaws. You worry me.

Look at all the people in this thread that hate fun and behaving in a socially acceptable manner. Funny how the PERP community want to impose themselves on the 99% of other players.

These days I see a dental its a code 5

    do not assist
if they go down in PVE they stay down

and chainsaws are needed to treat "stupid syndrome"
the cure is loss of all limbs

And in the process you ruin the game for everyone else! I hope someone files a GM ticket against you for this kind of behavior.

Code 5 means to deliberately sabotage STFs. He has admitted this publicly so I've quoted this so he can't cover up his anti social behaviour.

It's rich admitting griefing then having the cheek to call others griefers. When you deliberately sabotage an STFS it is you that is griefing. Perhaps you should stop treating other players with contempt.

no one runs a STF with a dental
you see one you already failed

im refering to Real missions (incursion , fleet alert etc)

    and its not sabotage
sabotage is leaving the griefer at large to grief

a fire extinguisher is no use against the borg you know

now if you are a dental and have a problem with people code 5ing you

    don't be a dental

You can justify your deliberate sabotage of STFs anyway you want. However you're spoiling the game for everyone else. You make it clear that anyone that hates fun, hates Starfleet Dental is actually the type of player that trolls and griefs everyone else.

You should also stop being involved in public erotic roleplaying. We do not consent to being involved in these disgusting activities.

    im not a dental
    my clothes stay on
my manners are precise and clean

    dentals are nasty
they go out of they way to sexually harrass real people

And you don't know about STF because dentals can't complete them
    too busy pestering people

    Remember no one LIKES dentals

Literally lies and slander! You sure are a real champ. I'm sure everyone else on the STF team appreciates it when you turn tail and run because one member has a Dental tag. Real sporting.

Now back to the concept I originally was going to discuss. We need a fire extinguisher turret which fires two streams while spinning around. This would be an effective AoE extinguisher. Perhaps with the added laser visuals firing out the top of it for parties.

I'm sure any STF team would miss solivax's contributions if he decides to "Code 5" and sit in the corner. Every team needs a lasersponge.

I think a sort of "pulse" of waves being generated in 360 circles would have better coverage.

I vote no. I especially do not want to sparkle or watch anyone else sparkle, nor do I want to be forced into dancing.

I can tolerate the party poppers up to a point, but I want this game to feel like Trek, not some flashy vanity MMO where everything goes as long as it looks cool.

I'm not opposed to people setting up a party zone on other people's starbases, but I do not want to see disco balls and light shows on mine.

    Ship fireworks for Zen.

P.S: Cardi's put on a firework display from their ships in DS9, once they publicly confirmed that Bajor broke the warp barrier first.
