3 things to consider for you and other who want a fleet dreadnought.
1) galaxy R, was in it's c-store variant the most undesireable ship looking at stats (not esthetics)
pepping it up to the cruiser with the most HP (only a little bit more than the Oddy though) was cryptics choice to give it an edge again as a fleet version of the same ship. In my opinion without the universal ensign which was "demanded", they failed in delivering a competitive cruiser...again.
2) galaxy R fleet version has 10 console slots...1 must be consider occupiet for saucer seperation. But if somebody would use it a s a support/tank ship the saucer sep should be exchanged with something more tanky. i mean the sentiment behind the 10 consoles in fleet versions is great, in my opinion it clearly gives it the edge needed to be more desireable than normal T5 ships, but still not making them totally OP. They made them OP by adding HP, and shield strength.
3) we may not even be looking at the final list of fleet ships yet. there will be additions in future. It will be for sure a lvl 5 shipyard ship...so lets see when your fleets hit lvl 5 shipyards what kind of ships are available in 4-6 month.
I'm happy as a Galaxy owner but at the same time I own Galaxy Dreadnought, which is my favorite ever since "All Good Things." So why not bring up both ships? Making the Galaxy better than the Galaxy X is backwards to what is canon. Its nothing wrong with bringing both ships up and just make subtle differences. Galaxy can have its extra Eng console and give the Dread an extra Tac console or Sci console so you can put a Shield Field Generator to boost your shield capacity. Besides, my shields got nerfed in this newest season, they use to be almost 14000 HP now its down to 12358.
At the very least, they should sell a booster package to bring your current Dreadnought, that is not offered in a fleet model, to be on level with the fleet models. Current Dreadnought can't compare with the Fleet Galaxy because it is less tough, out powered and not as many consoles as the Fleet Galaxy.
I do not agree with bringing suaser separation to the Galaxy X because its the only advantage a Galaxy-R would get due to its lack of DPS. Besides on the Dread there are no loner civilians to keep safe. They quit putting families on starships after the Enterprise-D due to intcounters with borg and more hostile situation like the Dominion War. If the bring that ability to the Dreadnought, I would not use it, I would fill that Sci console with a shield field genrator.

-Next the dreadnought is a ENG/TAC ship, the Fleet Galaxy R is a ENG/SCI ship the +.1 to the shields is what the non-fleet Galaxy R should have had but didnt get, more likely for the same reason the Star Cruiser didn't.

but maybe you should learn the difference between a SHOTGUN and a RIFLE and what both are best for before you start the QQ'in.
Hakaishin: No... I spent 27 months in combat. If it isn't an AA-12 (with an effective and accurate range of 200m), the shotgun really is kinda useless. Assault weapons clear rooms better, are more accurate, longer range, just as much destroying power with a spray of 7.62 rounds, more options for piercing armor, less recoil, and more reliable.
But civies like you wouldn't know that, now would you? Your best interpretation of combat is a video game.
Rifles are superior to shotguns in combat. Get used to it, don't really care if you like that answer or not.
Ask any real combat veteran. Almost unanimously, they'd take an M4, M16-A4, AK-47, even an M107, as massive as it is, before a shotgun outside of the AA-12.
AA-12 is an exception, because it is such an exceptional weapon that breaks all the standard rules of shotguns.

Saucer separation will very likely (albeit not definite) render the Cloak unusable.
The Cloak is the single strongest asset to the Galaxy-X.
Take that away, and it loses a HUGE chunk of its combat practicality in its ability to systematically eliminate targets from the field.

I know full well what they're capable of, their strengths, their weaknesses, and their assets in combat as well as their possible niche uses.
Plus the saucer separation is a console (that can go in any slot) also so getting another ENG (well any) slot IS NOT changing anything other giving you one more choice of what you can do in a fight with the dreadnought.

Any ship I fly is an "I Win" ship. I started flying the dreadnought because a friend told me it is the single most useless ship in PvP.
I turned it into one of the most feared ships on my team.
I could do the same to any ship I fly, because it is not the ship.
It is the pilot/captain and their team.
I have a damn good team, and I'm a seasoned and calculating PvPer. I'd say I'm pretty set.

The ONLY thing that Im unhappy with in this whole fleet thing is ( http://www.stowiki.org/Fleet_Ning'tao_Bird-of-Prey_Retrofit ) this fleet ship is a level 50 ship with 16,500HULL thats really really low for level 50. I dont know if this was over looked but it has to be a error. How could anybody hang in level 50 missions with hull that's made for a level 30 ship dosent make since ????? Why would anybody pay 4xship modules for 16,500 hull ???? the look/size of every ship makes since most of the time in STO. Its like a manager told a dev to make fleet ships buy adding HULL/CONSOLE/BRIDGE OFFICER on alot of level 50 ships (but the problem here is the Ning isent a level 50 ship to start with) so we are left with a level 30+to me 2 LtCom Bridge officer stations Dosent=10,000 to me the size of the ship would make it a little higher then the Brel

Well, Honestly I'd love to see a fleet dreadnought, but as cruisers go it's still the best there is, AS IS. For PVP, One shotting just feels amazing. That said, PVP can sometimes take forever to get a game going.
So I switched back to an escort, its simply faster to farm for Dilith with STF's and Dailies. I hope one day they'll make PVP mean more, Especially love Capture and Hold. But getting a game of that going is almost Impossible. When I first started playing that was a HUGE joy to me. The Defiant and Dread Cloak came in real handy.
Coming up cloaked on a capture point, One shotting and taking the spot away was awesome.
But with PVP in it's state it feels kinda worthless to grind slow in the dread for Dilith. lol

I'm speaking based off my Skills with 9 Points into Structural Intgrity. But when a Patrol Escort has 44k, and a Dreadnought has 55k.....Yeah, ok. lol.

you know that was expectable...i saw this many, many times that players of equal or atleast above a certain level of skill, (especially if both are in cruisers) always fight to a stalemate.
we did a little tournament some time ago within our fleet, and all the senior members (with appropriate setup) stalemated agains each other. Even though i considered some better than the other...
so, in my opinion 1vs1 is kind of balanced, because good players with good setup will nearly always have a stalemate.
you should get some friends together and have a 5vs5...maybe like this you will have a result.

totally agree...even though i fly exclusevely escorts with my toons. it's about 5-7k off in my opinion.
Also why have sci ships the lowest hull value? They have better shields, agreed...but they also have only 6 weapon slots...
escorts should atleast have equivalent hull to sci ships.
I found that to be a strange thing, when tanking the tactical cube in infected elite...with my tactical escort retrofit with a tactical char...i mean, the 2 tactical teams made any incoming dmg from the cube irrelevant.

made any dmg of the tactical cube bounce off...
now that plasma torpedos don't kill you instantly (which is a good thing) anybody with a reasonable setup can tank
i suggest make the cube shoot at everybody simultaniously.

Sci Ship or Carrier, etc. Although I've yet to try it Escort vs my Dread with the Jump Lance that could change things big time. lol
If only their was good PVP. Or full sector open PVP somwhere. Still LOVE the way UWO did it, No Instance, you attack someone on open world and it simply goes right into battle. But the game was broken and way beyond PAY to win when I left. Was nice to sail by others that were fighting, etc.
But even this game would be amazing if there was one sector, like say Eta Eridani where it was open PVP, Think Kerrat but full scale. That would be awesome. Hell ad another sector that's only reachable by lvl 50's where its faster to grind Dilith, yet gotta face being attacked at any moment. Thats some end game content that would keep giving right there.
The ship really only needs the turn rate of the klingon cruisers and a ltc tac slot.
That is all. Keep your lulsy amount of hull and shield boosts which do absolutly nothing (tanking is about mitigation and regeneration, not the size of the pool itself.)
If we get fancy, let us select the damage type of the lance too.

No, a 1v1 you anticipate the Lance, therefore making it useless. RSP has a 45-60sec CD, Lance has 3min.
The advantage comes with the Lance in its ability to surprise your enemy in team play, when they're focussed on your allies.
But to be fair, he actually caught me while I was drunk and queuing for arenas on my Armitage in the first match and didn't think to change. We shot at eachother for about 15+ minutes before pulling back.
He asked I bring out my dreadnought, and in my drunken arrogance I threw on my Zombie BOFFs just to match what I thought he was doing to me in the first match as payback.
That ended with a simple chat pvp session before we just cut our losses with neither one of us able to kill one another and reconciling after the fact.
I probably should've listened to my own advice on my own Dreadnought thread, "This is not a 1v1 ship." But alcohol and arrogance led me to waste about an hour of my time shooting at something that simply refused to die with a whale.

The Dreadnought is a sniper. Cloak, charge everything, decloak, and fire it all, watch your enemies die radically fast, and then tank away while your on cooldown. Rinse and repete. This isn't a defiant-R. It's not a battlecruiser either, far too slow, so stop thinking it is. This ship rocks, and if your not going anywhere with it, then try soemthing new, don't complain about how it sucks, cause it doesn't.
As for the fleet ships, again your doing it wrong. Those ships are there so people can get C-store quality without paying actual money for them. Even still, you complain about the c-store and fleet ships, when you get perfectly fine starships at rear admiral level. Science captain dying too much? Maybe thats cause you're in an escort. @insanerandomnes: Fleet ships are free? When did this happen? 4 Fleet Support Modules at a cost of 500 Zen Each does not sound free to me. As for the Dilithium grind to get them, that's the same as grinding Dilitihium to get a C-Store ship.

If they gave us a Fleet Dread, even if they made the Lance console-only, I would buy it in a heartbeat. But I'm not dropping $50 for a 3-pack to get ONE ship set up with all 3 abilities.. IF it can use all three together.
The Dreadnought is still a PERFECTLY capable ship, that having been said. I've run it for a bit over a year. It can, outfitted even decently, outperform fleet ships and some lockbox ships that are decently set up.
I would just like to get a fleet variant of it, and I'd pay for it.

I admit very good sniper ship but fleet verse still need. It does have enough science consoles slots on exchange stealth. If it had 4 science consoles on it 100 times more hard pick with science console for stealth then a Galaxy Dreadnought without it. Even though I do agree you that it make perfect sniper ship. Also when decloak you get increase hitting power.

the people that think that this ship is a perfect sniper ship didn't fly it, period.
the accuracy of the lance is not good enought to make this ship reliable for this role, also this is only possible every 3 minute in the best situation.
any klingons ship with beam overload 3 will do this role far more effectivly, and not every 3 minute only, heck even the defiant can do it.
so please, spare me this legend of the sniper role on this ship.

Actually I saw that as a huge plus that every single 1 vs 1 I've played where my opponent knew what he was doing always ended in a Stalemate. Be it Escort vs Cruiser, Cruiser vs Cruiser. Sci Ship or Carrier, etc. Although I've yet to try it Escort vs my Dread with the Jump Lance that could change things big time. lol
If only their was good PVP. Or full sector open PVP somwhere. Still LOVE the way UWO did it, No Instance, you attack someone on open world and it simply goes right into battle. But the game was broken and way beyond PAY to win when I left. Was nice to sail by others that were fighting, etc.
But even this game would be amazing if there was one sector, like say Eta Eridani where it was open PVP, Think Kerrat but full scale. That would be awesome. Hell ad another sector that's only reachable by lvl 50's where its faster to grind Dilith, yet gotta face being attacked at any moment. Thats some end game content that would keep giving right there.
That is all. Keep your lulsy amount of hull and shield boosts which do absolutly nothing (tanking is about mitigation and regeneration, not the size of the pool itself.)
If we get fancy, let us select the damage type of the lance too.

No, a 1v1 you anticipate the Lance, therefore making it useless. RSP has a 45-60sec CD, Lance has 3min.
The advantage comes with the Lance in its ability to surprise your enemy in team play, when they're focussed on your allies.
But to be fair, he actually caught me while I was drunk and queuing for arenas on my Armitage in the first match and didn't think to change. We shot at eachother for about 15+ minutes before pulling back.
He asked I bring out my dreadnought, and in my drunken arrogance I threw on my Zombie BOFFs just to match what I thought he was doing to me in the first match as payback.
That ended with a simple chat pvp session before we just cut our losses with neither one of us able to kill one another and reconciling after the fact.
I probably should've listened to my own advice on my own Dreadnought thread, "This is not a 1v1 ship." But alcohol and arrogance led me to waste about an hour of my time shooting at something that simply refused to die with a whale.

As for the fleet ships, again your doing it wrong. Those ships are there so people can get C-store quality without paying actual money for them. Even still, you complain about the c-store and fleet ships, when you get perfectly fine starships at rear admiral level. Science captain dying too much? Maybe thats cause you're in an escort. Get over it, and start playing the game, and these ships like they were meant to be played, or GTFO.

Fleet and Z-Store ships cost time or money. I can make more money but I can't make more time.

The Dreadnought is still a PERFECTLY capable ship, that having been said. I've run it for a bit over a year. It can, outfitted even decently, outperform fleet ships and some lockbox ships that are decently set up.
I would just like to get a fleet variant of it, and I'd pay for it.
I admit very good sniper ship but fleet verse still need. It does have enough science consoles slots on exchange stealth. If it had 4 science consoles on it 100 times more hard pick with science console for stealth then a Galaxy Dreadnought without it. Even though I do agree you that it make perfect sniper ship. Also when decloak you get increase hitting power.
the people that think that this ship is a perfect sniper ship didn't fly it, period.
the accuracy of the lance is not good enought to make this ship reliable for this role, also this is only possible every 3 minute in the best situation.
any klingons ship with beam overload 3 will do this role far more effectivly, and not every 3 minute only, heck even the defiant can do it.
so please, spare me this legend of the sniper role on this ship.
