Aenigma Nebula - Captains Table

altlexingtonaltlexington Member Posts: 49 Arc User
Have you ever wonderred about the energy cloud that orbits Earth and another that ordits Qo'nos, well its called the Aenigma Nebula.

The Aenigma Nebula is a gateway place excluesively for life time subscribers or 400day veterans to visit, a space station where KDF and Starfleet can inter-mingal without any fighting.

Unfortunately the rest of use carnt visit it.

After talking to people who have visited they say it is often empty of people, only NPC's are there.

Isnt it time to open it up to any level 50 charactor as a reward for reaching the highest level.

After all we do get stimped for a new ship when we reach that level.

It may make it a more active place and add incentive for people to get to level 50 and make up for not getting a new ship.

Here is the Wiki Link about it :-- http://www.stowiki.org/Captain%27s_Table

The thing about the aptains table, is that there isn't really anything special about it. If you opened it up, within about a month (if that) it would be just as dead.

I'm a 600 day vet and trust me, there is no benefit to going there. There are more facilities on the other starbases (even K7 and Starbase 39). No-one goes to the Captain's Table for practical reasons, you might as well just go to ESD while you're in the system.

Also, what else would be left for the 400 day vets then, other than the Captain's Yacht? (and I mean physical content, as oppose to skill respecs etc).

Sorry dude, it ain't gonna happen :(

Besides which, it'd last about two hours before it gets subjected to STF complaining, politics/religion debate, and Gorn jokes like ESD (Lmao, I need to go to bed, I seriously almost wrote "TRIBBLE") or DS9.

    Trolls gonna troll.

    It should be removed.

However, if it is felt that such an area is still a good idea, then instead of it being a seperate instanced magical space and time zone - simply create a new section of ESD and First City where only people who qualify can gain access to. Much like the raised tower section in the Fleet Stations in SWTOR.

People who don't have access can see there is an area they can't access yet and are intrigued (perhaps encouraged to obtain it as a veteran reward) and those who have access can lord it over those who do not within the same instance zone chat (or whatever it is we are supposed to do with such blatant feature of class segregation).

I think Q should remove it then use it to host events, maybe snap his fingers and jazz the place up for christmas events and anniversary events:)

They should just remove that stupid cloud entrance and just make it a door on the starbases. That would more closely follow the books at any rate. It's almost like the devs heard about it and figured it must be the nick name for some starbase or something and set it up that way. What would be even better is if you went in there and saw some of the more famous captains just sitting around having a drink and telling their stories. Let the foundry people use it for their missions as well.

The problem is the location. If it was easier to access I would visit more often.

I think there should be benefits for people who can access the table. Not game changing, but perhaps some unique DOFF missions or the ability to refine an extra 500 dilithium. A genuine reward for those who have earned it.

A blatant form of class segregation? I disagree. If someone has put the time in to the game, why shouldn't they get some perks? That's why it's a reward!!

The Captain's Table ranks up there with the DS9 voting you get for T4 in Diplomacy which does absolutely nothing. Both are only there to be filler for the lists of "perks" and make you think you actually get something, but really don't.

Time to open it up to any level 50 character? With the new leveling system that took what, 3 days? DOff's literally level your character while you sleep. Maybe if the old system was still in place that went to 51. But since season 5 went live, level 50 doesn't mean much. Ask some people what it took to get Ambassador before DOff assignments. That was an accomplishment, 10 xp at a time... There's even an accolade for it :)
You want access? Fork over some dough.

That's the point. You're already in Sol with ESD 1 map change away.
To get to the captain's table, you have to change maps to get to Captain's table (space), then change maps again to get to the ground.

Where it doesn't offer anything different from the aforementioned ESD. Why bother? Just use ESD.

I think many people agree the mechanic to get to the Captain's Table is a huge roadblock for it's use.

Just remove the stupid 'nebula in orbit' gas clouds and add the thing to the Transwarp list for those people who have it. This would make it a much more useful (and used) location.

Oh, and I agree that it should be added to the Foundry as well. It would be a great place to start stories from. :)

I have said before that the Captain's Table needs to be a Transwarp Hub to various locations. Want to go to DS9 from K7? Then enter the Aenigma Nebula.

I didn't include that because you have to fly to get to ESD too. Granted, it's a longer flight, but the map changes are the biggest hurdle IMO.

Been a lifer since the day they were first offered.

In the time since the Captain's Table has been in place I've visited it 3 times with Fed characters and once with a Klingon.

The devs did a wonderful job on creating the beauty of the station and the environment that it is in.

Basically, it's a nice place to visit a few times to look around and enjoy the splendor and wonder.

After those visits to look around, I haven't had any desire to revisit it.

Open it up to the entire player base of the game as far as I care. They too will visit a time or three and then warp back out to ESD / Qo'nos / DS9, etc. :)

What they really need to do is make it worthwhile, someone said unique Duty Assignments which is a step in the right direction, I also saw transwarp hub, another good one. I'd personally like to see one be able to do the academy lore missions there, would become my new log-off and log-in spot.

I feel a few minor bonuses would make it more worthwhile, might even encourage some to spend some money to get a subscription to go visit it.

I'd also like to see the access code and career officer legacy unlocks fixed. It's a bit of a rip off that people fork out the money then can't claim what they paid for. Rather annoyed at that.

It won't fix anything, they will still just visit once or twice then never return...
I never knew about the DS9 voting. What is it? How do you do it? What are its results?

Top of the hour, every other hour, you vote on an Ambassador to visit the station, 15 min later the Ambassador appears (in theory) and will sell items such as transwarp consumable devices (again, in theory). From what I understand, only one of the Ambassadors even has a chance of working, then it is hit or miss, and then they only sell transwarp consumables to places you can already go if you can vote. All in all it is very sad and pathetic as a "perk", just like the Captain's Table.

I wouldn't change a thing - I LIKE how there is somewhere ANYWHERE in game we can go and avoid the Barrens-like chat of DS9 and ESD.

I'm GLAD it takes extra effort to get there, keeps out the idiots.

Harsh? Maybe. Rude? For sure. Am I proud of myself for saying all that? No.

But good luck proving I'm wrong.

(I am merely saying that I like it, and that I think the people who don't come are not missed. I am NOT implying that smart people buy Life Subs. That is a personal call.)

I am just saying I like it how it's quiet. I NEED that in a game somewhere.

Yeah, the Captain's Table is a safe hub that has most of the HUB NPCs in a small area (BTW, the Engineering section in Fleet Starbases is from the Captain's Table, for those who never been there).

Cryptic said they was going to improve the Captain's Table months ago, wonder what happened to that?

Like said above, they should at least put in unique DOFFs missions in there. Or a place where you can access unique sector missions, instead of running around STO?

Or a Latinum store that sells previous Lockbox items?

Since it has no real location in this universe, then it works extremely well as a transwarp hub. Just add the portal to every social area.

It was made as an incentive for people to buy lifetime subs.
A "perk", I assume, to give the lifers a haven to escape the riff raff and kind of chat that... well, DS9 zone chat has become.
It was s'posed to make lifers feel special.
(actually, like CoH/CoV's VIP server after F2P)

It was kinda cool way back then, to be honest.
I remember lots of people using it. (not a TON, but it was a fairly bustling little station).
Never really visited often, and even less in the past year or so.
There was nothing that made it special. No special vendors, contacts, (now) doffs... no real reason to go there.

As has been stated, OP, you're not missing anything.

I wouldn't want them to remove it... but how about putting some useful contacts/vendors in there? Since vets can go there too, now.
