1 character slot at the price of 2

lterlter Member Posts: 0 Arc User
In its day, I used this alienware promo code that gives you 10 days premium, a NX ship, and one extra FED slot. So I have 3 characters, isn't it? 2 FED and my Klingon.

Here, yesterday I just spend 625 Zen in two more character slots. I created the first one -a pretty joined trill- without problem. But when I'm gonna create the second one, it sais that I've already filled my character slots, and I have to buy it again.

I've already wrote to the support, but until they decide to give me my fifth character, I wanted to ask here if anyone else used the alienware promo code and happend to have the same issue.

You're a free to play user now, right? As a f2p user, you only get 2 slots. Since you have three characters already, they don't just delete your third character. When you bought the two slots, one of those was used to cover the third slot.

This gets discussed at least a couple of times a week. A search for character slots should pull it right up.

    Hope this helps

But my third character is from the 10 days I was a premium user, so you are telling me that if you buy premium, you need to buy two characters to cover the premium one and have a maximum of 4 character slots?

Nevertheless, I paid for two more slots, not for covering my premium character and have another one at the price of 2. In any place of the purchase process it said anything about "covering" the premium character...

And I don't know why they should delete the premium character, since I created it when I was premium. They should also remove my tokens for the skills?

    Lol.

A Silver account gives 2 slots, a Gold account gives 3 slots, you purchased +2 slots.
So Silver +2 would have 4 slots, Gold +2 would have 5 slots.

Your sequence appears to have been:

    1) You are Silver (Free). You have 2 slots.
1b) You fill your slots. You have 2 characters, 2 slots.
    2) You go Gold (Paid). You have 3 slots.
2b) You fill your slots. You have 3 characters, 3 slots.
    3) You return to Silver (Free). You have 3 characters, 2 slots. You should still have access to all 3 characters.
    4) You buy 2 more slots. You have 3 characters, 4 slots. You can make 1 more character.

If you deleted a character in 3), you would have had 2 characters in 2 slots, and wouldn't have been able to create a 3rd.

Noup, I deleted my character once, so that's just not true. I had tree slots, not tree characters.

So according to this theory, I only have to bough a premium account and I will have my fifth character?

If you had 3 characters when you were Silver, deleting one will leave you unable to create a 3rd, because you only had 2 slots as a Silver.

    Yes.

And I repeat you, again, that's not true. I've deleted my 3rd character being silver, and I was able to create a new one in this slot. (In fact, I deleted two characters, about a week ago).

Please, I appreciate the help, but give only veridic information.

If you feel you have a bug you need to post in the Game Bug thread and file a Support Ticket. Posting on the forum, especially in this section where the Devs never come, will not help you at all.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

To the OP, did you check your KDF slot to see if you have 2 there? The game now awards 1 KDF slot and 1 Fed slot. It's not 2 slots you can use for any faction. So if you have used 2 Fed slots and buy 2 more technically you should only have 1 Fed slot left open, but you should have 2 KDF slots open.

Hm, then my information is out of date, because in S5 we had plenty of complaints from former-Gold players that they no longer had a 3rd slot. :o

We've had at least three of these threads just within the last week.

I'd link to them but we all know how well that goes over around here.

As I said above, the issue has to do with Factions. A Silver player is allowed 1 Fed Faction character and 1 KDF Faction character. Extra slots purchased can be used for any Faction.

A Gold player gets to keep their characters when they convert to Silver. That means the OP had 3 Fed characters when he became Silver. He deleted 1 and that left him with 2 Fed characters. Since Silvers are only allowed to have 1 Fed character when he purchased the +2 slots the game used 1 of the slots to make his 2nd Fed character legal. That means he has 1 slot left to make another Fed but 2 slots available to make KDF, if he chooses.

Hate to burst ur bubble, but this is not true at all. My wife, who is a F2P player, purchased 2 character slots and both of them r being used as FED characters. It does not distinguish what those are. When you just start out, u have 2 slots, 1 FED and 1 KDF, but not if u purchase additional slots
*Me*Why don't you just step away from the weapons console. You and I both know that you couldn't hit that cube, even if it was right in front of us.
*Junior Tactical Officer* But sir the cube IS right in front of us.
*Me* EXACTLY! Its right in front of us and you still missed it! Just step away from the console.

I believe you're missing my point. The extra slots don't care if you're Fed or KDF, but the base game does. A Silver can only have 1 Fed and 1 KDF but because the OP was once Gold he has 2 Feds. The game registers one of the new Extra slots as correcting the imbalance of him having 2 Fed characters when he should only have 1. That leaves him 1 extra slot for Feds or 2 for KDF.
