    - Useful holodecks. I want it to be like elite force where you can do shooting practice in your very own holodeck. Or even better, have there be mini games like the Dixon Hill series or Fairhaven. Photons be free anyone?;)

    - 3-D space is essential for defeating the likes of Kahn.

    - Shuttle bays. Is it too much to ask to board your shuttles from the actual shuttlebay?

    - Sciency missions, like dealing with some omnipotent being or exploring a giant space organism.

    - I may be in the minority but I want the futuristic Earth Spacedock back.
It pisses me off that some hardworking engineers went to the trouble of designing a new spacedock only to have Q zap it back to the way it was.

    - Klingons playable from the start. And pleeaasse give them something to justify seriously playing as them.

-Playable Changelings. I have this scenario where both the Klingons and the Federation start a supersoldier program to turn huminoid officers into changelings.(something like how odo was changed back in The Begotten) This would allow players to change their appearance without a tailor, and use shapeshifting attacks. I recomend that this be reserved for extremely highlevel players.

Real use for cruisers and science? To be honest I see no benefit in getting them, while escorts can load cannons and turn much better.

Just some Random stuff that bothers me since i started playing in February 2009.

    - More Exploration, less killing. (last time i checked STO was a Star TREK game not Star WARS)

    - Space Combat: The ability to disable enemy ships, instead of destroying them.

    - Ground Combat: The ability to permanently stun enemies. I jst don't see starfleet personell butchering through masses of enemies.

    - Tier 5 Excelsior (129 years old but more firepower than a Galaxy Class or sovereign, not to speak of Star Cruisers, do i need to say more?)

    - Absolutely ugly Assault cruiser variants.
(whoever designed the Noble and the Imperial Class to be a Star Trek/Starfleet Ship should be ... well i don't know but it should be something cruel)

    - Some ship designs, like the Fleet escorts or tier 2/3 escorts are not even recognizable as starfleet ships.

    - Ship designs the devs think of being "cool", are mostly just hideous and ugly, IMO.

    - The avenger class just a healer boat, instead of being the successor of the Sovereign class. (at least from a design point of view.)

    - Every up to date Starfleet ship should have at least 2 Lt universal BO slots. (More advanced ships should allow this, instead older ships have universal BO slots, this just doesn't make sense.)

    - Bugs that let the game still look like if it where still in Beta...

    - The absence of Tier 5 versions of Tier 3 ships, althrough some are brand new ship classes...

    - Mass effect looking Armor and kits and other designs that should belong to other games but not to a Star Trek game. Or can someone imagine picard runnning around with such a rediculus looking armor or Kit?

    - Masses of Cardassian, Vorta, jem hadar and borg DOFFS and BOFFS in Starfleet and KDF...

    - Galor class, Ferengi Marauder and Excelsior Class higher tactical BO than galaxy Class...

    - Galor/Ferengi Marauder Class in starfleet... (at least they could have given it a "starfleet-ish" coloring)

    - Galor/Ferengi Marauder Class in the KDF... (klingon coloring (green) should have been at least come with the ship.)

    - Ships like the Galaxy Class, Sovereign and Star Cruisers are degraded to tank only, with not nearly enough Tactical BO stations.

    - MMO typical stone, paper, scissor ship mechanic.
Star Trek ships shouldn't be classified in that way, since all ships are more or less "cruisers", just with different focus.
Pressing Star Trek ships into such a poor and unimaginative mechanic is just boring imo.
Big ships should be the Kings of the Battlefield, instead being big clumsy target practices. Some ships should be stronger than others. Big ships should be extremely expensive. I think its pointless to artificially balance a Excelsior class and a Galaxy class for example. Some ships are just weaker than others. One of STOs long - term motivations should have been to aquire better ships.

    - The Defiant class should be the only Escort shipclass in Starfleet. I just hate those small squishy glasscannons.

    - All Starfleet ships should get Target subsystem I, Science ships should get TSS II.

    - Cruisers should get the same turnrate as Science vessels. (Cruisers are just too boring to fly. A bit more Maneuverability would make them much more fun, since equipping them with Torpedoes would make sense.)

    - Too many tribbles.

    - No consistent starfleet uniforms for NPCs, just those plastic hideousness.

    - Different color palettes on uniforms. (no real black instead just some kind of grey for example)

    - Nothing to do inside your ship. Sector space should be removed, Warp travel should be handeld through a simple 2D map on your bridge. (Most of the action of a Star Trek episode takes place inside the ship.)

    - HUGE interiors, Tiny space and stellar systems. (shouldn't it be the other way round?)

    - Uniform Parts that use different color palettes than other uniform parts...

    - Scientists are not always doctors or medics... (but all class specific stuff suggests that scientist are automaticly doctors... i hate superficialness like that)

    - The looks of the Phaser compression pistol, why can't they just look like normal TNG phasers (the cobra phasers). No other weapon has two different appearances, why can't we just have the normal starfleet weapon instead of this childish "cool" looking toy?

    - Not nearly enough options at the ship editor, like making pylons facing backwars (or forwards), Sliders that let us set the span between them or a slider that let's us reduce the highness of the ships neck a bit and so on. (just talking about being able to make small adjustments of 20-30%, just to make a ship look good. Sometimes there are just some small adjustments that make the difference between a good looking ship or ugly one.)

    - Mohawk haircut in starfleet, lol. (another example of how miserable the devs are trying to make Star Trek look (what they think of being) "cool".)

    - Everyones is an admiral, max rank should be Captain instead.

    - Space and stellar systems should be one big instance, other games (Elite series, some 4x srategy games, etc.) did that a long time ago, why isn't that possible in 2012?

    - War is everywhere, what i liked about Star Trek was that they tried to PREVENT wars, there are more than enough Sci Fi series/universes with this subject.

    - Federation much to trigger-happy, where is the peace loving, evolved and humanistic humanity we saw in TNG?
(sometimes i think the devs are confusing Starfleet with the Peachekeepers from Farscape, to exaggerate slightly)

    - Too much combat and killing everywhere, there should be much more mystery solving and puzzling missions. Force should be the LAST resort not the first one!

    - Where is the long awaited exploration revamp?

    - Lockboxes...

Surely i missed a lot of stuff but thats what just came to my mind right now.

Since i recently started playing again after a break of some months, some things i wrote may already be outdated by now, so please take my apologies in advance.
    Good night.

    Live long and prosper.

    1. The soundtrack is extremely repetitive
    2. Loading screens could use a lot of new pictures
    3. Warping out of a system when your ship is destroyed provides some hilarious camera moves and effects. The (trans)warping out animation is buggy in other occasions, too.
    4. Changing characters requires logging out
    5. When transporting out of a ground map, usually the characters clothes beam out first and vice versa when beaming in... (Panty shots!)
    6. The Exchange search is shall we say... Quirky.
    7. The academy events are not worth the time you put in them

My little papercut. This Is Not EVE. This will never be EVE. Posting that your intentions are to basically force the developers to take notice and fix things. Well, if the developers ever actually do take notice, they will probably just laugh at you. Or cite that some forum rule somewhere doesn't allow it.

That's something I don't get, in general. I do play 40k, I have an own SM chapter although I'm more invested in the Tau enclaves. I don't have anything against action and combat, but we are supposed to play Star Trek here. I don't want a 40k-ish feeling in this, else I'd play a totally different game. Yet, all what STO gets content-wise is fighting, fighting and more fighting and character gear that'd put a Techmarine to shame (as I said, the DOFF-system is not content). If this is the way the playerbase wants it, why does it have to be Star Trek? Star Wars is all about fighting, as well as any other SF franchise in existence but Trek always had a kind of intellectual tone to it. A message to think first and shoot later - yet, nothing in this game makes it necessary for me to think at all. :/

this is where i do not agree. as a star wars fan i can tell you right not star wars isn't sifi at all its fantasy. don't believe me? well lets sum up episode 4:

the farm-boy(luke) brings a lost message to a wizard(obi-wan) who sets him on the path to his future destiny.
the farm-boy and his scoundrel friend(han) rescue the the princess (Leia) from the castle of the dark knight (vader).
they learn the dark knight hold a terrible weapon in his castle and the farm-boy sets out to destroy the weapon.
when the farm-boy succeeds in destroying the weapon( and castle) he becomes the hero he was destined to be.
1 that a fantasy story 2 not a lot of fighting there either. well OK it always more fighting than a UN meeting in space(TNG) but that's rather boring to watch so...
---voyager and enterprise is what I like about star trek---

    on topic tough
    1. my boffs are getting tired of standing on my bridge can they please sit down so I don't like like some kind of slave-driver.
    2. bridges need to be more interactive. acutely don't force me into social zones let me access all that from the bridge...( they are only inhabited by npc's anyway)
    3. make social zones more interesting. not a forced stop at the bank/exchange/etc. maybe than actual people will inhabit them and not just 2k of faceless npcs. (not that I don't like them there. but real people would be a lot better)
    4. the klingon faction lacks ... well... everything to be honest. I mean a Klingon tactical captain? can't those be called warriors sound a lot more klingon. science captains? I never saw a Klingon scientist call them wing commanders the ships on the klingon side that preform the most science like are mostly carriers anyway. the same for engineering make it sound Klingon just for the flavour.
    5. rethink Klingon classes. they need to be more than fed in red not just in name but also in function. focus more on a warrior aspect, things are disposed after use, battle is fun/pain and death are just the price for fun and than drink on it. be harder, better, faster, stronger. the strong battle and those who are victorious emerge stronger and battle more it's a circle and how can you resist being a part of that. focus not only the classes around that but also the missions.
    6. Klingon faction lacks missions for levels 0 to 25... having them start from there is just a very cheap fix.
    7. make PvP more interesting. so far I the space pvp I've seen is just a team death match. can't there be assault, captuere the flag, domination and Bombing Run.
    8. I hated ground game from the beginning and I still do. shooter mode made it more playable but it's no mass effect.... I like to solve puzzles, use cover (like mass effect), make tactical decisions. right now they feel like me and my gung-ho, trigger happy boffs on multiple shoot outs.
    9. why can i only craft at memory alpha? never in the shows do they go there. they just make that stuff in a lab on the ship. So why doesn't STO follow suit? also just jumble a couple of data samples together wait 3 sec and voila a deflector dish that fits in your pocket? at SW:TOR they had the right idea about this. you are the captain order your crew to make it. let it take some time that a more sensible time gate than you can only refine this much dilithium a day.... also schematics uselessly cost the lowest tier of data samples making those overpriced and just annoying to grind. do away whit schematics altogether.
    10. make a tap for data samples and particle traces. they are uselessly taking up inventory space now. there is a tap for currency why cant there be a similar one for data samples and particle traces?
    11. i can easily get this list up to a 100 like this, but let start working on the top 10 for now.

I don't care if George Lucas was inspired by this or that, when Starships with Warp-Drives and laserguns are in there it's sci-fi ;) It's at best a Fantasy/Sci-Fi hybrid like Warhammer 40k, even battles in Star Wars work this way (unload massed infantry and walkers on a plain surface and let them run towards each other XD ). Though I admit that the original trilogy is not as combat-heavy as everything else related to the franchise, it's still Star WARS. And it lives up to that. While Star Trek tried to tell us a story about a society evolved BEYOND that point.

yreodred: Kudos to you, I fully agree with this list :)

as a fan you have to love George Lucas for creating the original trilogy and hate him at the same time for TRIBBLE up so badly whit the prequels.
and while the federation may have evolved beyond the point of requiring wars and fighting (which I find unrealistic, man is not perfect) other societies around them have not. I mean look at the Borg, Cardasians, Romulans and especially Klingons.
so even though you like to find a diplomatic solution to things you cant always have your way. sometimes you just have to fight and the fact that federation ships are armed says that even the federation accepts that fact.
in the end combat makes for a more interesting game just from a game-play perspective. so there will be a lot of combat in STO that cant be helped. however the devs should balance it out more whit puzzles and mini games especially in the ground game.

True, indeed :D I really like Star Wars a lot less than other franchises but this may be due to the fact that everything but the original trilogy is god-awful. I love these three movies though and a squad of X- and Y-wings even decorates my desk :D
and while the federation may have evolved beyond the point of requiring wars and fighting (which I find unrealistic, man is not perfect) other societies around them have not. I mean look at the Borg, Cardasians, Romulans and especially Klingons.
so even though you like to find a diplomatic solution to things you cant always have your way. sometimes you just have to fight and the fact that federation ships are armed says that even the federation accepts that fact.

This is also true, but that adds a lot of spice to it. Man is not perfect, not even in Star Trek. While the federation IS a utopian society what is often reflected by quotations for example from picard, there are also enough hints at the dark site of the federation especially when they face war. But dealing with this dark site as well as the invading force is a challenge which the Federation and Starfleet managed in the past. Starfleet is heavily armed but does not use this force to attack, they are dedicated to peacekeeping and defense. And this should alse be reflected in the way the game portrays combat.
in the end combat makes for a more interesting game just from a game-play perspective. so there will be a lot of combat in STO that cant be helped. however the devs should balance it out more whit puzzles and mini games especially in the ground game.

This is, again, true. Combat is fine, combat is exciting in Star Trek, too. But as a Starfleet officer, it should be my main goal to kill my enemy only as a last resort. We should be able to disable enemy ships, stun enemy soldiers, convince them to surrender by diplomacy or force but not blindly kill thousands of people during a routine science mission.

The Federation is a peace-loving society, Starfleet is a strong peacekeeping paramilitary force and not an army. That should also be reflected in the game. But this is not "cool" enough for many people. I get the feeling that many just cannot accept the basic principle this faction should be based upon and instead demand (and get) more warships, more guns, "cool" gear other franchises feature to do more damage, more fighting, more killing, as if the Federation would just lose against more warlike species because more war always means stronger, but that's not true. The Federation faced so many wars but remained intact, even expanded through diplomacy, they CAN face outside threats fine. Starfleet even can get a tactical department and special forces (see "Elite Force") when their overall style and philosophy would match the canon. But instead we get shiny armour, miniguns, napalm grenades, battleships, fighter-jets... And that's just fundamentally wrong if we play Star Trek. The game should simply be renamed if we are going this way.

Some really great "paper-cuts" listed, went through most of them, hope I am not doubling on any missed BUT here is mine:

    1) Over-emphasis on rank and NOT accolades. Accolades determine how much a player has actually played and the skills they have. The 2% kill and damage accolades really help a player hold up as opposed to a VA with ZERO acc points. (Is this even possible, But I have seen all too often).

    2) Lowbies in team type missions like PVE and FE mixed with veteran players causing the other players to spend untold amounts of consumables and 99% of time, waste their time and have to sit through long cool-downs because the lowbies keep dying and yelling for help.

    3) Exchange is horribly difficult to add many items, because of issues like exact spelling, multiple drop down changes, scroll scroll scroll to select correct button, etc.

    4) No ability to log in or rez IN your starbase.

    5) Chat box clutter, especially after teaming, keeps stacking mutiple TEAM tabs only way to clear it is a relog.

    6) No restrictions on lowbies, giving them free reaign throughout galaxy and no way of forcing them to learn how to play the game first. Some MMO's force newbies to go through certain courses to learn everything from attaching items, to walking. STO has none, forcing them to complete storylines is a great way and how I learned. Even in the military, you don't command until you can learn your trade and follow orders.

    7) Lowbie drops in PVE, FE and STF's. Do I really need a Lvl II common pulsewave gun being a 9.5k acc point VA50?? Oh right, that should be a sub note to my biggest pet peeve in Item 2.

    8) Ability to change bridge and landing party officer uniforms would be nice.

Not holding my breath that any of this will ever be done.

PS: Sollvax, I purposely ignore your posts, so no need to add your worthless wooden nickel comments.

All I want is a "reset" button in the exchange, I'm sure Adm. Janeway can lend you hers.

Just make it so it resets all the options on the exchange, so you don't need to waste time setting everything back to default.

    - Fleet creds; they're practically worthless. Most of the stuff you can get using them ALSO require some other currency, usually dilithium (which in itself is bogus considering many projects require you to PAY dilithium), thus making fleet equipment (which due to the 'need' to do a bunch of provisioning missions first so you can even BUY them) not worth the effort.

    - Speaking of fleet equipment, fleet ships are the biggest ripoff I've ever seen. While many don't require THAT much fleet creds, they DO require around 4 fleet modules, which cost 500 zen (aka 20 dollars american) EACH, with one exception, that being if you bought the non fleet version in the c-store, they only cost 1 module. Still, all THAT means is that to get the fleet version of whatever ship, you have to tac on an extra 5 buck of real money, in addition to what you already paid. True, there are some ships on the menu that don't cost modules, but they cost a ton of fleet creds and are generally underperforming from what I've seen of their stats.

    - Also, assuming you're buying a fleet ship without buying its non-fleet version first, the fleet versions don't come with the power consoles (saucer sep, ablative generator, etc) of the c-store version, meaning if you want to have those abilities, you have to shell out for the c-store ship ANYWAY

    - Cruisers and the rrest of the tier 2s don't have retrofit or fleet versions. No love for the movie Connie?

    - Many missions still have major bugs that have been known since season 5. This is especially true for the Devidian time travel missions. We don't like having to replay a mission from scratch just because some little bug near the end trips us up. FIX IT PEOPLE!

    - Yes, I want general crew uniform customization too.

    - Speaking of crew, some of the bridges are underpopulated. I use the Aquarius bridge on my Oddy Sci and half the consoles are always unmanned, two BoFFs are just standing around, and even though I have nowhere near the max limit on them, the rest of my BoFFs are nowhere to be seen. Seriously, can you tell me why one of the biggest bridges in the game has so few people on it?

    - Further on ship interiors, I think each size should have different rooms for certain areas. It is laughable that a sovreign style engineering core could be shoved into a Sabre or an Obreth. You already have custom interiors as part of a couple of the packs, can we have some MORE please? Heck, a we have bridge packs, why not interior packs?

    - Also, want more decoration options for ready room and other interior locales. At the very least, I'd like floor trophy spots in both the Ready Room and personal quarters. Its a shame to earn all the neat floor trophies and only be able to display one at a time.

    - Payouts for STF missions seem small. The cheapest things in the STF stores are the borg ship equipment at 5 chips each. STF missions seem to only have a payout of 1 chip, or maybe if, like has been said, you get really lucky and get a tech prototype. Me, I want to get some of the MACO gear, but to get any of the good versions (Mk XI/veteran and up) you have to pay 40 chips EACH at minimum, and even the mk X ones are 20 each. Either up the payout, give us more ways of getting chips, or something so we don't have to play the same missions several dozen times over to get the cool equipment we want.

    - I know the missions on Nukara are designed for team play, but some of us have issues getting together a team for various reasons. Basically, can you tone down the rate at which the tholians respawn a little? The zone wide crystal collection mission takes forever to complete because every time I clear out an area and start drilling, I get blasted by the new wave that beamed in 2 seconds later. Again, realize the missions were for teams, but some of us still want the rewards, but end up trying for them solo for whatever reason (for me, its because I can never find anyone to team with at the hours I play). It was different with the borg zone, because for the most part, the borg don't shoot first, whereas the tholians DO.

    - Rank sashes on klingon characters have clipping issues, especially on female characters. This has been a problem since day 1, and it hasn't been really fixed at all.

    - Would like to see old lockbox rewards show up in C-store at the very least. Even better, to HELP the sale of lockboxes, instead of changing the lobi store each time, just expand it, adding the new stuff while keeping the old available I'd still like to get an energy whip, and some of those merchant outfits. Not to mention the photonic tac boff...

    - Human klingon normal boffs. Federation have normally available Klingon boffs, so its only fair.

    - Time travel missions that DON'T involve TOS. Seriously, I like the original Enterprise and crew, but how bout a mission where you team up with Sulu and the Excelsior, or Captain Harriman of the Ent-B?

    - Nothing to do on Risa. At the very least, do an event that involves getting swimwear for off duty clothes. Don't tell us you can't, we've SEEN the female Orion costumes.. If you can do that, you can do swimtrunks for men.

    - Rank sashes on klingon characters have clipping issues, especially on female characters. This has been a problem since day 1, and it hasn't been really fixed at all.

And the special Season One Worf sash has the opposite problem. It's floating several inches out from the female character's chest, unless she has her bust meter all the way up, (which personally, I think looks really stupid on most characters.)

I could probably thing of a *lot*, but:

    1) "Sticking" when trying to move after a conversation or activating a console or shop - mouse movement works and *then* you can move with keys, but you can pound on movement keys and nothing happens until you move some other way first. Happens randomly, in and out of missions, and not always at the same place.

    2) The "Full throttle starts slipstream" feature. Kill it with fire. I *already* have a keybind for slipstream, I don't need it mapped to another one I habitually hit in missions or other spaces and can no longer use in sector space at all.

    3) NPCs are solid. This sounds funny, but crowds of moving NPCs can push you away from terminals or other things you're trying to do.

    4) Yeah, the 2.5D thing is annoying but I doubt an engine rewrite is in the cards.

    5) They have improved the tutorial content in some ways as far as stories but not as much on game mechanics.

I don't have any PVP/team/fleet advice because I avoid all that whiney, grindy, angry player stuff.

It would be nice to have a chat system that is a bit easier to use (especially ignoring), but I don't really have a solution in mind for that. For the most part the chat content is mad but I might be ignoring decent people by turning off the chat. :) I like helping people out with questions or missions or whatever, I just don't because of the sheer volume of crazy.

Oh, and erroring out: "There was an error upgrading your skills" "unable to complete purchase" etc. That can get really, really annoying.

word to the wise, check the date of the last post before you add to a conversation, or at the very least, don't dredge stuff up from several pages back in a board. It's generally frowned upon to reopen threads that no one has posted in for more then a month, let alone almost a year.

All right close it, but it's not like this stuff was fixed.
