Anybody gotten a tier 2 Starbase?

mimey2mimey2 Member Posts: 0 Arc User
On either side, Fed or KDF. I'm just asking out of curiosity. My fleet later on tomorrow/today (Friday) is going to have the needed 4k Fleet exp for tier 2, and then we'll have tier 2....whenever that finishes.

So is anybody else really close or on their way to tier 2?

On a totally seperate note, it'd be nice if there was a fleet feedback sub-forum. I think it'd be good because there would be a spot for just fleet (and of course mostly fleet starbases) feedback and discussion without clogging up the the General Feedback forum with a lot less of those threads (which I am sure some people are getting tired of seeing).
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

There were a couple guys in the Elite channels that mentioned their Starbases are about to hit Tier 2.

Mine.......still at Tier 0. Though our 10th project was just started before the servers came down. So we should be Tier 1 by Saturday. But we won't be hitting Tier 2 until the end of August. :(

My fleet is constructing the Tier 2 Shipyard, and immediately thereafter will begin the Tier 2 Starbase project.

It even mathematically possible yet? T1 took something like 8 days minimum, and I've read that the next group of missions give less XP and have higher StarbaseXP requirements, right?

We keep getting stuck on Doffs for our projects, if not for that we would have tier 2 started, but we are doing well and should have tier 2 some time next week.

Due to the upgrading times involved, no one would have a Tier 2 starbase for a few more days (about 1+ days if they've been running special projects around the clock since launch).

Do you mean like the normal day-to-day projects, the ones you know that give 1,000 exp in a certain area? If so, those aren't any different, now with the tiers we've started to unlock like the provision missions which give less exp, true, but of course they also do give the ability to buy all this new stuff.

Aside from that, nothing really changed when we hit tier 1 except for getting some provisions missions and various upgrades.

That said, the materials to upgrade each do increase with each tier. Those talked-about and dreaded 'million dilithium' missions I believe are only going to be the big end-level upgrades.

I have noticed that a more balanced building up of your starbase (with one special area to focus on if you just need missions to do), is a really good way of doing it. It prevents you from totally draining one area of all your DOFFs to start with, and the four upgrades to the outlying buildings all add up to a total of 4,500 fleet exp (shipyard 1k, fabricator 1k, comm array 1k, transwarp gate 1.5k) from the tier 1s that is.

My fleet is doing well, we've been doing that more even building, and we're also well on our way to tier 2 shipyards, which depending on how much that will give us, might get us to tier 3.

Not sure if it's possible yet, but my fleet is close. I can't tell you exactly how close without logging in, but we're more than half way to finishing the second bubble.

Getting the purple doffs to fill out upgrades is what's hurting us the most right now.

If I'm not mistaken, the transwarp hub no longer awards FXP like it did on Tribble, so you 'have' to actually complete a tier 2 catagory upgrade project to get the starbase to Tier 2 now as opposed to Tribble where completing all Tier 1 catagories awarded enough FXP to start the starbase upgrade.

This is correct, the transwarp gateway only awards science XP despite it claiming 1000 Starbase level in the rewards tab.

As people get to Tier 2 projects, please help update starbase projects (Holodeck).

Thankfully, we haven't run into dilithium issues yet. We've just been using member's donated funds so far and only once did we have to dip into our stockpile.

Still with single upgrade projects costing anywhere from 20k to 50k a pop and a provision project being 200k alone I doubt our stockpile is going to stay for very long. Our fleet just isn't big enough to race up the ladder without some extra help from the stash. :(

We've taken a 'slightly' slower route, and have been running only the provisioning projects (the ones that give 500 XP plus 5-10 provisions of whatever track). 2 reasons for this:

    1) Lower doff requirements. Even running 2 of these projects requires fewer doffs than a single 1000 XP project.

    2) We will need the provisions eventually anyway. They are probably cheaper to run at this stage than after we hit tier 2.

Even doing this, however, we have over 23K military XP and will be hitting tier 2 upgrades in the next few days.

You just know that there's some guy and his friends out there somewhere, playing this game furiously 20 hours a day, spending unreal amounts of real money to buy whatever they need, just so they can be the first to complete every Starbase mission there is.

Then, the next day, they'll be on the Forums, complaining about how easy it was, and how it took no time at all, and how bored they are with nothing to do. LOL It happens every time!

I have a one-man Fleet with my 6 alts in it. 2 of those alts hit 50 last year and I quit playing them. I'm now playing them again, because I feel like I have a REASON to. All that "useless" stuff that I quit collecting (data samples, ships batteries, commodities, etc.) are now actually good for something for my game. It's fun searching for all the different items I need to complete a project!

I suspect that I'll never actually "finish" my Starbase, but that's okay. STO found a way to give level 50s something to do that didn't involve running the same missions over and over again. It gave us reasons to use (and covet) those silly items that you never really used before. Heck, I may have to go into an exploration sector again and scan some anomolies!. It's giving me a reason to pull old alts out of mothballs and re-examine their ship layouts and BOff skills. It's given me a reason to look forward to playing again.

    Thanks, STO!:)

Great discussion and I agree with the OP, a starbase forum might be useful if Cryptic has long term plans beyond the initial offering.

Because there are different strategies in Starbase construction, some folks should be hitting tier II right now. It all depends on whether a fleet is focused on 1000 XP projects ot 500 XP provisioning projects. In other words, it depends on fleet goals - to have a starbase at higher tier quickly without stuff for fleets or a starbase with stuff for members. As some of the lower tier stuff may not appeal to some fleets but may appeal to others, one approach is not more valid than the other.

2 days our Dock will be fully upgraded to tier 2 and we can begin the upgrade project for tier 2 on our starbase however many days that will take, we have been moving at a steady pace, almost to tier 2 on science already as well and getting close on engineering. Just keep it steady. We are not even a huge group but just active players.

Urgh...I went into the game to check if you were right (because I REALLY hoped you weren't), and..you are.

Well, so much for my fleet hitting tier 2 soon, oh well, at least we are doing well in all areas.

That said, it is a really BS thing in this case that the transwarp conduit doesn't give fleet xp.

For those who are already upgrading, or in the process... can you share the costs on T2 Shipyard, and T2 Starbase upgrade?

I've seen several posts saying they should be done today. We'll hit shipyard on Wednesday it looks like...

The starbases are really putting a pinch on my smaller fleet. We have projects open that total almost 300k dilithium, and everyone in the fleet already spent a ton of dilithium to upgrade to tier 1. Our fleet starbase progress is pretty much at a stand-still. Then come to find out not only do you have to spend dilithium to upgrade the starbase and get provisions, but you have to spend additional dilithium to actually purchase the provisions for your character, which is on top of the fleet credits. Talk about a bummer :/
