Why oh why I'm so disgusted by all these lock box ****s, I mean ships.

What a load of BULL****. There's so much wrong with it it's hard to keep track of it all. I think the fact it's ruining the IP annoys me the most. Ok scam us with ships, but make it a Norway class federation escort, or the Vesta as the sci ship or something, dont give me ****ty ships that Klinks & Feds would never even fly =/

Isn't it a bit too early for any rage? I mean, wait for the dev blog that gives the ships' stats?
I think a lot of people are just objecting to the violation of sensible Trek. They're putting Tholian ships into the hands of Federation and Klingon captains. . .when the Tholians have NEVER been friends of either, and in fact ought to have ships that are uninhabitable by most humanoids.
I'm sure they'll have good stats, as they're lockbox ships, but still. . .this perversion of Star Trek continuity irks me.
My PvP toon is Krov, of The House of Snoo. Beware of my Hegh'ta of doom.

Wanna bet that these ships will have the "best layouts" people are dreaming about since launch ? In some idiotic tholian skin
But I hope Geko and Co proves me wrong. And the Tholian Cruiser will have the exact stats and layout of the Galaxy class.

Disagree, I didn't buy the "We've found all these pretty purple ships" - just before the 2200 series came out, it was slightly plausable. But compared to ships that you'd die just stepping into, THATS silly

It will be fleet level ships to keep inline with other fleet/lockbox ships. That is to say, intentionally much stronger than most anything else available currently.
Not sure about the three mirror ones on offer, whether they will be fleet or just skins...
Honesty why even bother with the fleet stuff.... its a massive grind looking 6 months out to get tier 5 maxed... at that point who won't have a handful of lock box ships. You don't even need to do any buying of keys ect... just grind ec all day and buy the Pve Kids extra ships.
Is it really a perversion? I remember Kirk and Sisko and Dukat commanding ships from other factions on the shows and movies.
And no one can tell me that you could not modify or replace the life support systems of alien ships to accommodate oxygen-breathers.
There's a difference between Kirk commanding a Klingon Bird of Prey, as opposed to humanoids commanding a friggin Tholian spacecraft. It's more than just environmental controls, you'd have to refit the entire interior of the ship to make it possible for humanoids to use (since, as far as anyone knows, Tholians don't have hands or the usual sensory organs). Tholians are considerably different from the standard humanoid species. Not to mention there being zero IP backing to this. . .Jem Hadar ships, Ferengi ships, and Cardassian ships, those are plausible. They've seen extensive action in the Dominion war and afterwards, or within interstellar commerce (Ferengi). The Tholians are an isolationist and thoroughly snooty race who haven't openly engaged in the Federation-KDF sphere of things for a hundred years or more from the 25th century standpoint, and don't mix with most of the species in the quadrant. Just having them 'suddenly invade Nukara' is a stretch, for cryin' out loud.
It blatantly clashes with established IP. . .which, of course, PWE doesn't give a flying f**k about. The same goes for certain others, as well.
If Cryptic wanted a new ship to release, they could've started releasing Romulan ships (with the story that they're decommissioned vessels due to the Romulans being unable to maintain their fleet), and then used the Tholians as the NPC protagonist. People would buy Romulan ships, especially if they were competitive or even superior.
/nerdrage
EDIT: And another thing. . .will Cryptic/PWE even bother giving these Tholian ships some variation of the famed Tholian Web attack, which seems like it would be an immobilizing move?
My PvP toon is Krov, of The House of Snoo. Beware of my Hegh'ta of doom.
Also, no Starfleet Captain did command an alien vessel for long. Even if they hadn't usually crashed them in the end, they would have gone straight back to Starfleet for reverse-engineering purposes. (And probably not just Engineers would comb through them - the computer archives would be worth a lot for Starfleet Intelligence and probably also the Diplomatic Corps and Cultural Researchers). And if you consider the technical unique capabilities the Tholians possess, whatever you can learn from dismantling captured ships is far much more than the firepower they could add to the fleet - one ship that can use a Tholian Web is neat, but all Federation vessels having counters to the THolian Web is much better.
The only Starfleet Captain that probably served for any time on an alien ship was Gul Dukat - and that was in a situation where he wasn't really a member of the Cardassian Military any more due to the political situation. I'D imagine that if Starfleet would break apart and/or Kirk, Sisko or Picard were on their own, they may commandeer any alien ship for their purposes and use it for some time - but once back in a stable Starfleet, he'd get a Starfleet vessel.
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
these ships were designed for silicon based spiders, carbon based fleshbags could not use this ship, it is an impossibility. trying to make the environmental system produce a comfortable atmosphere for a human would be just as hard as making a starfleet ship comfortable for a tholian.
and they are fricking spiders, all the interfaces on the ship are designed to interact with something that couldn't be more alien. i doubt the interior configuration is anything like a traditional ship, what if they can walk on the walls and ceiling, no humanoid could get anywhere if there wasn't clear fores, ceilings and walls.
these ships could not be salvaged and repurposed, it isn't possible, they would have to be gutted and rebuilt completely, they wouldn't be tholian ships anymore. a lock box unidine bioship would be easier to believe
This new Phased Tetryon Weaponry is available in nearly all variants of both Space and Ground weaponry, and combines the effects of both Phaser and Tetryon energy types into a single lethal package, in addition to their basic bonuses. And again, in the interest of ensuring that our players feel rewarded, Vice Admirals and Lieutenant Generals will have a chance at receiving Mk XII weaponry when opening a Phased Tetryon Weapon pack.

your right, so then we can rage and they still wont do anything.
hell the last ship to even have hte tag "subject to change based on tribble suggestions" were the ******n oddy and bortas and NOTHING was changed about them dispite all the "feedback"
That maybe explains how a Ferengi would fly the ship. Not Starfleet officer.

Not to mention you'd have to completely redesign control interfaces, as I doubt Tholians are supposed to have arms.
