If anything STO has set back the space genre and ask yourself a serious question, if this was Space Trek online, with different ships, none of them "Star Trekky", would you still play? Even the hard nose CDFers would be hard pressed to say "yes, I love Space Trek online, give me more lock boxes and grind please."...
If they add more storylines and episodes, I still enjoy STO a lot.
But if the new goal is rush to "endgame" and grind for gear, I'll be disappointed. What good is new uber gear if there's nothing to do with it except the same treadmill that got you the gear to start with? What good does it do to unlock all of the nifty Starbase features if there are no new missions to apply them too?
I'm hoping that DStahl's comments about Season 7 being story-focused hold true. If Season 6 and it's recent predecessors were more about fleshing out the game systems and tech to enable more storyline mission development, that's fine. But immersive storyline content is where it's at for me -- very important in a Star Trek themed game.
We're all panicking to much. These things take time, effort, and man power. Cryptic is no Blizzard, so stop asking them to be. Season Six has a lot more meat that we're giving it credit.
We have an entire new species, 5+ PvE missions, quite a few entirely new mechanics, multiple events, both new and several modified old ones, an account bank, new weapons, armor, items, a wholly new mission area (that is available all the time, like we've been asking) and to top it all off Lockboxes are going away. Temporary as that may be, I think it calls for some celebration.
We shouldn't get too comfy, but Season Six is a big step in the right direction. After the wake of the Year of Hell, the boring-est April ever, and the May of Complaining, Season Six is kind of what we've been asking for.
I vote we wait a month, and if we hear nothing new then we can start the worry wagon again.

Lockboxes are here to stay. They just announced the Tholian ones.
I left it when i got my Beta Access to SWTOR and remained there up until recently when they screwed me over with the server mergers. (Long sad tail of me losing all my toon names that i took great pains to secure upon launch).
If truth be told I was losing interest in SWTOR anyway and with me having a lifetime sub here at STO I thought i'd come back and see what's new.
Upon my return i'll admit to be very impressed with the changes that have been made in my absence. Plus the new additions to the game.
I'm loving the DoFF system and the STF revamp and there are loads of other little changes that ive noticed (and no doubt others ive not seen yet) that i really like.
The addition of the fleet system is a big draw and has stolen my attention away from the DoFF system for the time being.
I imagine lots of people will be in a similar situation, SWTOR was a big deal and lots of people interested in the SciFi genre would have wanted to check it out.
If, like it did for me, fail to retain their interest they will be looking for some other SciFi MMO goodness.
STO is a great game, it has faults but what MMO doesnt, It had a poor launch but that is no fault of Cryptic.
Imagine the influx of people there will be when they send an email out to all past and present players advertising the fleety goodness that's now in the game.
I'm also a former LTS that lleft in the spring of 2010 and have been in SWTOR. Just came back today. Looking forward to checking out all the changes.
Are some of the lower end items worth 125 Zen? Probably not. But this time, at least you're guaranteed something, even if it's just doffs or Lobi Crystals.
Personally, I think S6 has brought nothing new to the table. Except higher store prices, more grinding, account-linking, new ugly ships, ramble ramble ramble....
EDIT: I'm no "hater" mind you. When I started playing I loved this game and had actually a very fluffy "Star Trek" experience, feeling that I play my very own episode. I'm just super pissed about how the whole game turned out to be eventually.
Aside from 17 missions, none of them time gated (aside from completion cooldown), etc.
that really depends on what you consider "new". almost half those new missions are on the same 2-4 maps. and i hear that those were also mostly recycled map parts (understandable) but that means they didnt have the "create" new areas. recycle! it saves the enviroment... until you realize just how bad the recycling process actually is for the enviroment... or how a lot of places go dirt cheep on the costs etc etc...
Is it enough to last until Season 7 which is when? Oct/Nov? Me thinks not...

Just one a step further.
We'll see how it ties in when S7+ comes about and there's actually stuff to do with all the stuff we get from the fleet TRIBBLE.
Then we'll know if its time to send the Cryptic team to the Justice League HQ or the old folks home aka Soylent Greenville.
Eh.

Still rocking with the support I see ... Go go Cryptic.
Didn't you mention this before in another post when you were "rar" "rar" "rarring" Cryptic and someone responded with below?
