uninstalling/reinstalling sto question

im having script errors pop up whenever i start sto and have no idea how/why/what they are and i cant get rid of them. as a result, i cannot get onto tribble. the only thing left is to remove sto off my computer completely and reinstall it. i have reservations about doing this as i DO NOT want to loose all the characters i have on my account OR be locked out of my account and have to start over.

i have bought a new copy of sto (collector edition) and have a few questions before i attempt this.

1 is will i loose my account if i uninstall then reinstall sto?
2 if i uninstall sto and reinstall using the new copy will i still be able to use my current account/characters?

im no computer guy (actually i have very bad luck with computers that usually results with me having to call in a tech guy from a computer store to fix my stupidity) so any input and help is appreciated.

hope you guys can help me

    1. No
    2. Yes

The account, your items, characters, etc, is all on the servers, not your computer. You can actually log into your account from any computer with STO on it and anything you do will carry over when you go home.

    To elaborate:

The only thing from the game that is actively saved on your computer, is as few screenshots of your character... The rest is saved on the STO server cluster.

You can go to any computer, install STO and play as if it was your home computer.

In fact, you do not need to uninstall and reinstall the game to get the benefits of the gold...
Simply go to this adress: https://secure.crypticstudios.com/startrek/keys/enter enter the key, and log out of the game (if it is running) and back in, and bingo.. you have the gold edition, along with your current version.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

Another tid-bit to remember is that you can copy your cryptic folder to another drive, recreate the shortcut and BAM you can log in and play. no need to reinstall and patch. My friend wanted to play after it went FTP but didn't want to download and patch so i brought over my cryptic folder and installed it and he was up an playing immediately after the copy to his system. Awesome.
