That awkward moment when...

...you buy a ship just for a console, completely intending to destroy it once you remove the desired item, and it gets randomly named "U.S.S. Challenger."

...there's a 20% sale on ships, 27th till the end of the month; payday on the 9th, stipend from subscription hits on the 10th.

...you queue up for Elite STF while on ESD; show up in a shuttle from the previous hour's Vault STFs.

...you didn't pay attention to secondary weapon before queueing up for ground STF - whip out a lirpa from replay of Coliseum.

...happily typing away in fleet chat when someone asks for if you're up for an STF. You say "Heck yeah!", only to find out it was a mistell, sorry.

...happily typing away in tells to a trusted friend when you accidentally mistell to your whole fleet the sordid details of...um, nevermind.

...you buy a D'Kyr and take it to the shipwright to change its colors & pattern. Oh. Well, no matter, I'll just change the hull type. Windows?

...you finish a PVP match with the most damage dealt, most kills, top of the ever-lovin' heap - and the very next match you're 9 of the 15 possible deaths thanks to a good premade team.

...you invite a friend to your bridge for a trade, accidentally trigger embarrasing dance emote you keybound while drunk.

...you ask a friend to train your very rare science boff; forgot about shared cooldown and now have to make a hard choice.

...bust hump in replay to get Borg/Reman/Breen/Jem'Hadar Boff, level him, change some abilities... costume kills it for you after two weeks.

My meme is probably bad and I should feel bad.

Thats a bit more of an oops moment than swapping out your beam array while in the vault, only to be jumped before you get the new array installed.

    Good one.

Guilty! Except replace "fleet" with "zone." Yeah oops!

    How about...

...delete a character with several bound, limited-time items because you wanted to try out a different captain type, only to find out you hate that type and want to go back to what you had before.

I have a Caitain Tac Captain that this is about to happen to. Two lunges are a little overkill, and tactical caps play far differently than I expected when I built him, but I'm scared I wouldn't like him as a sci or eng.

    How about some more?

...you queue for CE for the first time ever in your Torpedo Boat.
...you get excited in pvp because blue team is up, 14-9; remember you're on red team this match.
...you dump all your good stuff in the fleet bank so it can be used for the Starbase; Someone who reads first takes that stuff and loves all their new fleet marks.
...you're playing late at night in the dark and you get abandoned by your away team one by one in the Fire Caves.

...you accidentally mistelled an RP session, making it sounds like you wanted to start a coup against your Fleet Admiral.

...You run into a PVP match with your STFs Boffs.

...You run into an STF with your PVP Boffs

...You picked up a console from the fleet bank, slap it onto your ship, only to find a better console for cheap on the exchange not five minutes later

...You recruit more members into your fleet then your own fleet admiral :D

...of course we all had a good laugh afterward, since the characters were sisters mourning the death of their father. lol

... when you click-drag an ultra-rare ship to your bank to free up your inventory only to see the game registering it as a double click and thus opening the box for you, binding the ship to your character.

... when you believe Cryptic has given up any hope of revitalizing the usefulness of the Assault Cruiser, so you purchase an Odyssey -- only to find out not too much later there's going to be a Fleet Assault Cruiser variant which has the performance you want, but you're skeptical about going with it since you just dropped a bunch of C-points for the 3-pack Odyssey bundle and don't want to think you wasted your money.

... when it's late-o-clock in the morning and you've been grinding STFs for hours on end and when you get a rare tech drop you want, you accidently buy the wrong set item, thus negating the last several hours (or few days) gaining the EDCs to buy what you wanted.

... when you've been buying Large Hypos at an inflated rate on the exchange, not realizing there's a Large Hypo vendor on DS9.

... when you decide to go to a different starbase to change your costume and pick Starbase 39 since it usually doesn't have a lot of people -- only to recognize upon zoning in there is no costume tailor there.

... when you forget to add a zero to an expensive merchandise item on the exchange and end up selling it for a fraction of what it normally sells for.

... when you forget to put impulse engines on a vessel you take out of mothballs and spend the next 15 minutes using your reaction thrusters to scootch towards the starbase to beam back in.

... when you've been doing elite STFs all night and your gut tells you this team is made up entirely of idiots that don't know what their doing -- but you end up succeeding and the hiccup at the beginning that led to the feeling was just that... a hiccup.

... when you respond to the Ten Forward thread 'The person above you' only to find out someone ninja'd the person you were responding to, thus disrupting the entire thread game, and then editing your post to reflect the person who you now have to respond to -- then having to edit again when he responds to your edit (it turns out you were both constantly monitoring the thread).

    This.

I'll also add as a footnote: "The rainbow cruiser with crappy consoles and boff powers that refuses to participate with the team (by supplying heals or even attacking the same targets) ends up getting the Prototype Tech."

In the same vein as your post, only this guy really wasn't trying to ruin it on purpose, he was just that daft.

...you realize you're the only one who doesn't know how to take a regular ship into the vault event

... Your T5 Skittle boat is doing less DPS than the guy who brought a Constitution Class ship into the STF

... The day you give up in your heart that you're ever going to get a Prototype Tech drop in an STF is the day you get more than one

After you accidentially que for an elite ground STF, battle for an hour with common gear to get to the final room and discover how to win the battle, you look around to find the rest of the team has bailed on you.

...you're carefully maneuvering to get your character into just the right position, yet in the process of doing so, you end up doing a double-tap roll off the cliff/into the plasma/etc. Despite having "tap twice to roll" disabled, no less.

...your healing buttons don't work on yourself because you still have Derpy Jenkins the borg bull-rusher targeted.

...you suddenly find yourself alone in a mission because all of your boffs got stuck in walls, division-by-zero pathing loops, or have just stopped responding altogether.

.... when 2 Klingon engineer girls with non STF gear totally pwn an entire cure ground map with compression pistols and miniguns, while the rest of the team in MACO XI gear have a hard time dealing with just single tactical drones.

    "It's better in Klingon?"

Seriously, give that a try. Minigun to expose and compression to exploit. Huge damage. Add in quantum mortars, phaser turret spam, etc etc.

I don't really consider that to be awkward anymore. If there's one thing this game has taught me, it's that gear is rarely an indicator of skill and gameplay know-how. (Unless their ship is rocking rainbow beams) It really just says "this guy got lucky and won the roll."

    Now, on topic:

...you rage-exchange your entire batch of whiteshirt doffs, only to realize that the refugees you had were accidentally culled in the process.
