Guilty! Except replace "fleet" with "zone." Yeah oops!
How about...
...delete a character with several bound, limited-time items because you wanted to try out a different captain type, only to find out you hate that type and want to go back to what you had before.

I have a Caitain Tac Captain that this is about to happen to. Two lunges are a little overkill, and tactical caps play far differently than I expected when I built him, but I'm scared I wouldn't like him as a sci or eng.

And then the dummy who buys it runs off to the support forums and makes a post about the great buy that they just got so everybody and see it and laugh at you.

This.
I'll also add as a footnote: "The rainbow cruiser with crappy consoles and boff powers that refuses to participate with the team (by supplying heals or even attacking the same targets) ends up getting the Prototype Tech."
In the same vein as your post, only this guy really wasn't trying to ruin it on purpose, he was just that daft.
After you accidentially que for an elite ground STF, battle for an hour with common gear to get to the final room and discover how to win the battle, you look around to find the rest of the team has bailed on you.
...after telling everyone in an IGE run how great of a jumper you are, and should be in the jumping group, you fall into the plasma pool on the first jump
...you're carefully maneuvering to get your character into just the right position, yet in the process of doing so, you end up doing a double-tap roll off the cliff/into the plasma/etc. Despite having "tap twice to roll" disabled, no less.
...your healing buttons don't work on yourself because you still have Derpy Jenkins the borg bull-rusher targeted.
...you suddenly find yourself alone in a mission because all of your boffs got stuck in walls, division-by-zero pathing loops, or have just stopped responding altogether.
.... when 2 Klingon engineer girls with non STF gear totally pwn an entire cure ground map with compression pistols and miniguns, while the rest of the team in MACO XI gear have a hard time dealing with just single tactical drones.
"It's better in Klingon?"
Seriously, give that a try. Minigun to expose and compression to exploit. Huge damage. Add in quantum mortars, phaser turret spam, etc etc.

I don't really consider that to be awkward anymore. If there's one thing this game has taught me, it's that gear is rarely an indicator of skill and gameplay know-how. (Unless their ship is rocking rainbow beams) It really just says "this guy got lucky and won the roll."
Now, on topic:
...you rage-exchange your entire batch of whiteshirt doffs, only to realize that the refugees you had were accidentally culled in the process.
...You've just finished a grueling 8 hours at work and are really looking forward to a few hours of quality STO game-time...
...Only to find that the Server is down for the next three hours for maintenance...

... Feeling totally wrong not seeing any beams shoot out of the galaxy-R and feeling even wierder when each cannon hit is doing nearly 3k damage per pulse, out of the most useless c-store ship there is.

... you run head long into a group of irate klingons (including a Dahar Master) before you realize you left your Away Team at a fixed waypoint two rooms ago
... you enter an STF with what you thought was a Unique, and totally cool ship's name, only to find out two of your teammates for this STF have the same Ship's name

Thats a bit more of an oops moment than swapping out your beam array while in the vault, only to be jumped before you get the new array installed.
Good one.
