You need to be championing better Raptors and Destroyers (of which the fleet versions are decidely inferior to the Starfleet escorts) instead of trying to defend an overpowered lockbox ship.

I stopped try to do that a very long time ago, around about the time DStahl showed up and touted us as a minority player base undeserving it his full effort or time.

But, If I am to give up the OP bug, then I will do that just as soon as I see the usual suspects give up on their hopes of piloting the new Defiant. Seems fair enough.

Hell if I am supposed to suddenly roll over, and go back to my BOP in good faith ... will I see any less escort-carriers spueing danubes???

But, I am quite sure from experience, some will just not be satisfied with a slice of the cake.

I've only gone into PVP a couple times with my bug, and that was during the holiday event. I got SMASHED by people ticked off they could not get a bug ship. My side didn't heal, other side targeted me. It was bad. Have not been back there since. Bug is now PVE/STF use.

With that said I think the rage on it getting the extra tac console is because of how inaccessible the ship is. You can't just shell out C-points for it. I think if it was more avail people would not rage like they do (not that I want it common).

Mav, PvP is about winning. The dude or focused-fire that blows me out of the heavens, doesn't give a hoot-or-nanny by my sportmanship, or bumper sticker that reads "Nice, incredibly dead guy was here"

When I am in my Bug and do happened to dish out some fiery destruction, its pay-back for months of abuse by players laughing themselves silly with the esc-carrier etc. I do not have fond memories.

That's why my Vorcha doesn't give 2 damns what shields you have.
I and my klink Comrades just say **** it and roll either bleedthrough builds, or just power drain everyone till they can't fight back
and then it's Respawn Point for them!

(No seriously, I don't even have to pierce shields to kill anyone on my Vorcha right now)

hehe... i point out you're trolling, and you double troll me right back.

    so let's get this straight:
    1. YOU are in no position to tell me to quit STO!
    2. YOU have no right to dictate what I should write about in forum.
    3. If I want to debate wether something should be changed in game, I'm allowed to do so.
    4. If I'm hoping the devs will read and understand what I write, and take action to fix it, I may be a bit naive, but hey, it has worked before.
    5. This is a MMO, that is in continous development. The status quo is not written in stone. Things can change. Things WILL change. It's up to the players to try to influence the game in the direction they wish. Sorry if you want to keep the broken stuff, but I want them to fix it.

So STFU about the "leave the game" TRIBBLE! It's neither helpful or constructive, and lends nothing to the discussion. It's ONLY purpose is to PlSS people off! And that's why we call it trolling!

    OP therealsivar

I don't understand why they would do this, knowing that it will take a very long time for people to get the Fleet ships....

....on top of that, there's now no reason to bother with the starbase stuff when you can just get a turbocharged Jem'hadar a lot faster and without the effort....

....another short sighted move by Cryptic
I think they are slicker(there are other words) than anyone gives them credit for. This whole thread could be advertising if they announce a "last kick at the cat" lockbox promo.

Set up somewhere in the gulf between the bug buff and the fleet ships rolling out of levelled station military yards. How many keys do you think they might move? If they do it I just hope they have good consolation prizes, those sell brisk and overpriced on the exchange if you get there early but not too early.

I don't think it is good marketing but it is a form of marketing. If you are mindlessly grinding for something that isn't as good as the contents of the box how likely are you to be tempted? It's like RL and working a dead end job but always putting aside the cash for a weekly lottery ticket. It takes a lot of suckers to make a millionaire.

I've tried doing cruiser build. I always end up with an escort on my TRIBBLE, that can not kill me, and can not be killed by me.

I figured, as I played tac/cruiser, that I'd get the most out of the damage, so I got me a tac Bortas/brotesque thingy with 5 tac consoles. I also tried the bleedthrough stuff with it, however, I still have that bloody escort/bug on my TRIBBLE.

Guess my playstyle fits the BoP better, as I have a lot more luck getting rid of unwanted escorts with those.

I can't believe it's getting a buff... The most tankiest, fastest, most powerful escort in the game and it's getting a buff. You could nerf the damn thing and it'd still be one of the most powerful escorts in the game.

The fact everyone flocks to them and it every PvP match seem to have at least two or three of these "very rare ships flying about should underline how overpowered they already are.

The dual universals are a particular kick in the teeth to the poor BoP, a ship already plagued with bugs (oh ho ho) and TRIBBLE-poor stats that are supposed to balance out its versatility. Unless you're really, really into trying to cloakgib people, I can't see why on Earth you'd choose it over the JHAS.

You want to drop high end sci powers while still being able to pew pew?
You want high end engie powers while still being able to pew pew?

The bop can do more than simply load out on tac stuff and be a gimpy escort. It can be a nice battle cloaking hybrid between a sci and a tac. Most people are just to "lol I pwnj00now" to realize it.

Bops are only worth it in cmdr sci, lt cmdre eng and 2 lt tacs

Or, Cmdr Sci, Lt cmdr sci, Lt Tac, and Lt Eng

For everything else just about they are useless and the only reason the bop still has any merit with these is because The Cryptic is unwilling to give kdf proper sci ships outside of the Karfi, and Voquv.

The bop without the bug has been a gibbed ship for a while. However the Bug, makes -every- other scort and bop look just down right sad and unappealing by comparison. And on the KDF Side? There's no option. You either have a bug or... well nothing as a tac if you have the option for bug. There is no debatable merit for anything else. The bug is flat out superior to everything the KDF has with -maybe- a tac vorcha as an aside.. and only because at least the vorcha R is comparably durable for tacs... (but no where near as Damage Capable)

That I can compare the Bug to the Vorcha in durability alone is a testament to just how OP the Bug is.

the only thing that tac vorcha i love so much can do that a bug cant is cover someone in plasma. with a 25 turn rate vorcha, ive found i can easily cover someone in plasma to immobilize them, then tractor beam them after they get clear of that, long term 0 defense score FTW. plasma buffed by tac captain powers, TT, EPtW and some hull debuffs does crazy damage on its own too i come to find, its become a large part of my killing strategy. or if their HEing their way out of the cloud, tracterbeam then and hold them in the cloud! only problem is i don't always have the firepower to kill some one as dead as i would like, but hey thats what the escorts on my team are for!

I have been playing with the Tac/Borta and having some fun. With the right build it's a powerful platform. I'd love to go Mano-e-Mano with a Jem'Hadar.

Is a SLOW cruiser boring? Maybe, but a couple of purple Evasive Maneuvers Doffs can offer a terrific mobility upgrade every 15 sec.

What we need to see on the Jem is a real consequence of only having 50 crew. Let it be over powered for a limited duration, but then it loses advantage as systems suffer from crew losses.

While I play mostly on the KDF side, and while KDF seem to be getting the shorter end of the stick as far as ship upgrades, I am still looking forward to Season 6.

Only thing I regret about selling my Jem'Hadar, was not waiting to sell it for a lot more EC.

Instead of just acknowledging the effort, some go to great lengths to insult it.

I guess that I was somewhat insensitive to people who do not have the ship. My apologies. Now that I think about it, I can see how some may have perceived that as "poor taste".

I really was just making a fleet recruitment video + just happened to be in my Jem'buggy at the time of the demorecord.

Well, if you consider what people spent (in real money) on the lockbox keys/duty officer packs lottery ships... my guess... most people with lottery ships spent far more than the 2000 Cryptic ($25 approx) on the bug.... some spent hundreds.... many spent well more than 2000 points to get.... nothing...

Even if you bought the boxes/keys/packs from the exchange... someone spent money to get them to post to the exchange. Grinding accounts for some of it... but I'd bet it is a small fraction.

The big issue is not that the best escort in the game is getting buffed to be even better its that the best escort in the game is getting buffed up from day one unlike every other ship that players need to grind out starbase upgrades which will take months to upgrade.

If we take the $200 cost of a bug ship as 100% fact (which can never be proven) it was a cost people paid to get their hands on the ship for the design, stats and boff layout which it still has. Nowhere did cryptic state it would always be the best escort in the game so bugship owners have zero right to complain imho.
