Honestly what they should do is a pull a scotty.
I.E Advertise that it will take longer than it actually would.
Spock: I understand we are having trouble with warp drive. How long will repairs take?
Scotty: There's nothing wrong with the thing!
Spock: If we return to starbase, the assassins will dispose of their incriminating footwear and we will never see Captain Kirk or Doctor McCoy again.
Scotty: Could take weeks sir!
Sorry, your post reminded me so much of this. And why can I still not log on?! It's 17:17 UTC now and I cant even log on, let alone load the patch. Sorry to be a pest Cryptic but this is seriously annoying.
Though I understand the need for such actions from the development team: locate, address and, correct such issues, it is the lack of information before hand; not knowing when those actions' take place, may or may not upset some of the subscribers of the Star Trek Online community.
Did you read the date on the OP? This downtime was announced 2 days ahead of time.
Now, I realize that some people don't read the forums. Understandable. But, to come into a thread, which was posted 2 days in advanced, and complain because there was NO notice....
That's just wrong.

I'd rather have high development quality than high development speed. Really. So I find it a good decision the not rush season 6.
i agree with you mostly.
i am in no hurry for season 6 to go live, but think about what you said lol
high quality not speed. ROFL
we hav never had high ev speed and yet we still get low quality
and we all know why.
because they are to busy watching the forums for infractions so they can play god and ban people. but in no way do they actually read the post for anything more like our comments on how something might need a fix before it goes live, hence all the additional down time when it does reach holodeck.
no doubt they have some really great ideas and having a test server to implement them is awsome, but they need to actually listen to people when they report the bugs.
also there is no need to tell us that a season is commingh out on a certain day/month and it never does , this has been a trend with these people from the start, just saying dpont promise then fail. instead go with announcing upcomming season to be release around and dont give exact date and fall back on it. example what they do season 6 june 18th. here we are in july already, my example of a possible better way would be to say upcomming season 6 to be released soon possibly in july or august no exact date, see how i did that. and again please take your time devs. there are lots of bugs in the season 6 build that are needing some fixes, dont rush it out, for god sake take your time , i can wait , even til christmas. just make sure it works
