I don't think its fair to everyone else if anything like a new ship is given.
Should be something cosmetic only like a special uniform or accesory.
As predicted it has begun. of course it's not "fair" it's not fair when some one is flying around in a C-store ship as well compared to someone who doesn't own one.

The entire point of the veteran rewards is to add a small incentive to people to pay for a sub. if a nice ship at 1,000 days gets people to sub to reach it, PWE and Cryptic are making $, mission accomplished.

We need a new, and better starship. Or hell maybe a new ship of each type to chose from (escort, cruiser, sci). But that's wishful thinking. Cryptic puts hardly any effort into STO anymore...just look at 900 day new paintjob "uniform."

If they can figure out how to give us vetran awards, they can figure out how to use that info to re-create our join dates!

I think i'm gonna hold back my speculation until we get closer and the details are dropped.

Cryptic just has too much of a history of variative quality to accurately guess imo.

It should be something awesome that people see coming and go "Man I wish I had that."

After all, anyone who gets to 1000 days has put up with a lot of stuff! Launch problems, the PvP mess up, the KDF fiasco, The Great content Drought, The C-Store expansions, the F2P transition and all the flip flopping and confusing comments, but are still sticking around.

And of course got enjoyment along the way, the great sector space revamp, the new FE's, the Fek'Hiri invasion, Level 51 being added (and later changed to 50 :D ), the time the formal wear was released and like a billion jokers were running ESD, all the Q events.

1000 Day Vets shouldn't just get a meh skin or a weak ship, it should be memorable.

A Galaxy class with Ens uni station! :D
OR... *wait for it* LtCmdr tac or sci!
With the torp point defense system... and 10 console slots.

    THE end.

No, but seriously, it would be something involving a Galaxy class. ;)

Did they upgrade it to a whole unique ship? Last time I read it it was just a ship skin.

Yes, they could, but only if you:

    a) Bought a Lifetime Sub from the start
    b) Never unsubbed for any length of time

They couldn't possibly recreate my join date from my vet info because I unsubbed for a month or two at a time once or twice and only bought my lifetime shortly before the F2P transition.

Ship skin is for 900 days, ship is for 1000.

I just hope it's something worthwhile.

Some of the Vet Rewards have been kinda "Meh." in my opinion.

No, hull material is 900 days.

To make sure I'm absolutely clear on this:
    • Hull material is the color and "style" of the hull of the ship. Type 6, seen on the Odyssey and many C-Store ships, is an example of this.
    • Ship skin is a new set of parts, or a "skin", that you can apply to your ship. The Armitage can use the skins from the Akira, Thunderchild, Oslo, and Zephyr, for example.
    • A ship is a ship, and is not a skin or a hull material. It is the thing you fly, that you apply skins and hull materials to.

Meh, I don't subscribe to the mingling of skins and models. A skin is what is applied on a model, and that's what a hull material is.

Cross faction starships? klingons ge a fed science vessel and feds get... IDK a bop?

Nice idea. but wouldnt mind being able to choose the ship i want cross faction. maybe i would rather have a fed cruiser for my klingon to gloat about..

    on a side note

Sisko Punched Q In The Face.

is actually 5 words and a letter. not 6 and a letter. unless you are going to count Q as a word and letter since he is omnipitant and there for counts as that much better 8P

I have a couple of thoughts.

As the final vet reward, I think it SHOULD BE OMG Super-Awesome.

I DON'T think it should be central to the IP (ie. T5 Connie, T6 Dreadnaught, etc.) so I think it shouldn't be from the shows. It should be a Star Trek Online original.

I also think new lifers should get all vet rewards as soon as they go LTS. So people who really want one? They can go LTS for it.

I also think there are issues with EITHER making it a faction neutral lockbox ship (CBS isn't even crazy about the lockboxes, according to Geko, and the 1000 day reward would be more common, IMHO) or making one for each faction (as Geko admits he wants to include the KDF in the reward but doesn't seem crazy about a separate KDF ship).

The way I see it, there are a couple of options.

My favorite is a joint Starfleet/KDF ship. I favor a BoP with Starfleet/KDF joint designs because that plays well as a science ship and an escort, the two underrepresented ship types. This way, both sides get the same ship, which is what Geko would prefer, and it isn't IP inappropriate for either. Plaster Omega Force insignia on it and make it D'Vak's personal flagship, which he had a few extras commissioned of for vets.

Another possibility I can see is an assimilated ship, with the Borg junk (or an even cooler version of it) on there by default, without equipping the Borg set, and some thematic Borg powers. This would be as a companion to an LTS Borg in some respects. This is the more "art lite" option that would allow Fed and KDF to have separate reward ships. Because it wouldn't be a whole new ship.

A hybrid Federation Bop could be really cool. Bop Styling, and wing guns, federation Nacelles, and hull plating. All tied together with universal BO slots makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
