@general1devon: Glad you think so, though I didn't have it generated anywhere. Found a system with the lighting I wanted, took a screenshot of my ship, went into the tailor and took a screenshot of my character, threw them both into Photoshop and played around until I settled on something I liked (within the rather tiny limits of STO's forum).

Success, I finally created my signature, what do ya think? if i can get it to show that is :P

Certainly not bad for a first try. I just wish PWE's sig standards weren't so small, so the text I have in this sig would be more readable.

Aw well. Less than a month, that won't matter.

Aside from that, the DPS of the cannons/turrets is actually very high. I apologize you overlooked the final numbers in most of the matches. If you read, I am either the top damage dealer, or very close to it. Aside from that, I've made many solo kills in there without my lance, just secondary weapons fire, almost every time without team assistance. I apologize you missed those as well.

I don't mean to rain on your parade dude but it's pretty easy to top damage charts in public queues with the silliest of builds. I've done it in a single-cannon Excel before (as well as topping the K/D/A charts). Torpedo Sci boats can reach silly high numbers. I'm not saying anything about the effectiveness of the build (I suppose it depends just what you're aiming for) but it's worth remembering.

Isn't that great with STO? Engage brain and win. Not open wallet then win. :P

As for the OP, I use a combination of your build and tactica with revelations gleaned from the Dragon and my own experience. Personal preference, but it works, and I'm not a liability.

Keep updating, Hakaishin! It'll be an honor to fly with you some day. :D

You're actually correct, but part of my post was notating that in less than 17 seconds of nothing but my cannons/turrets firing, I destroyed a fellow member of SOB (granted, was in 12th Fleet back then). SOB hosts some of the best PvPers available.

    The damage potential is undeniable.

The top number charts are normally because I'm dealing ridiculous lance damage which stacks up in a match over that of my allies, further making these numbers less accurate.

And a lot of my time is spent cloaked - my allies will often engage the enemy sometimes a full minute before I even enter the fight. This is done to catch enemies off guard and effectively 1-shot them.

Still, I suppose this is one notion that is worth greater scrutiny.

Hakaishin: Except even the Galaxy-X is 2,000 Zen, the Venture upgrade another 1,200 Zen.

I agree it takes brain over wallet, but they're steadily (especially with Fleet Ships) making your wallet more and more necessary.

Hakaishin: I trained Dragon. :) LOL So in essence, you're using a combination of my build and my build.

Looks like the Boss got banned for yapping off again, but perhaps he'll return one day in another alt.

But, we can keep the light on here for hom and those who want to fly a Gal-X dread properly.

What are your thoughts on the Subspace Jumper universal console? Seems like it would be invaluable in PVP, specially if you get jumped/held or just need to turn around. I have it equiped and find it extremely useful.

The Boss got himself banned for whatever reason... I have the Jump Console, and I think its pretty awesome. Activate your buffs/debuffs, hit the jump, align and fire the lance on the enemy's rear shield.

You are essentially trading the damage buff from decloaking for the (ostensibly) weaker rear shield. I suppose you also get some bonuses from the change in location.

HOWEVER, using the Jump does NOT brak any tracking weapon locks on you... if a torpedo is coming after you and you can't shoot it down, it will still hit you after you jumped away.

Yeah I know stuff like tractor beams and stuff stick but if you get tractored by someone approaching your broad side you can atleast get to a facing position and get them with the main guns. This is very important to me since I am using DHC's instead of regular cannons. I feel the effort of having to get into a facing position pays off very well if you can manage it. Of course, I haven't tried it in PVP yet so I may get my butt kicked...

Oh and I am still using the cloak! I have Jumper, Cloak, and Assimilated Module taking up engineering console spots.

I find it tragic that anyone has enabled this idiocy to go on for 17 pages. If you fly this ship, you are an idiot. If you actually die to this ship, you are an even bigger idiot--but not as big an idiot as "Destruction God" or whatever animu nonsense the subhuman who thought up this obese monstrosity calls himself. If I were actually emotionally invested in this plebeian exercise I sometimes pretend is a game, I would weep at the sight of someone who can afford XII's and [Acc]x3's would use it to outfit this asinine ship. As it stands, I'll just laugh nervously and inwardly cringe.

Haha, I love it when egomaniacs jump into a thread crying about how it still exists and simultaneously guaranteeing that someone will respond therefore perpetuating the very thing he claims to hate. Congratulations! Does it make you feel cool to insult someones decision to fly a ship you personally don't like? For someone who claims to not be emotionally invested you sure do have a lot of passion towards hating it....which is emotion. Plebeian? let me guess....college student? McDonalds patty flipper? LOL! So when you are not pretending it's a game does it become something else? Are you currently in a padded room?

Jumper and cloak are an absolute killer combination, but it's better to use Sci slots as a dumping ground first. Those usually require charts to use correctly, and even then don't do much. The Engie consoles give better buffs IMO.

Is it wrong that I read this post to the voice of Tuvok? An attempt to portray eloquence without any understanding of the matter at hand. And you certainly have no idea of the Dreadnoughts potential this thread highlights.
Your arrogance is typical of someone who cannot fathom the superiority of others, those who invest time and resources to deride the highest possible result from something you have dismissed as useless. If you cannot see the effectiveness of an Escort style DPS Tank (which essentially, is what the Galaxy Dreadnought is) then you sir need to start again from page one of this thread, and start again in Start Trek Online.

    Now, back on topic:
I run the Galaxy Dreadnought cruiser in the same way (albeit without the cloak console).
Currently using 4x DC's at the front, 4x Turrets at the back with 4x RCS consoles, 3x Phaser Relays, Field generator and Emitter Array, MACO set, Devices to suit the current 'mission' and Boff's for a damage resistant tank.
Acceptable turning rate in combat without relying on the cloak/ambush tactic or Evasive Maneuvers.

Dude, the Galaxy-X is the only cool incarnation of the Galaxy there ever was. Its certainly cooler than any other fed or kdf cruiser (although not quite as effective for most pilots). I specially love how the show's ship designers gave a nod to the Starfleet Battles games and made canon a Tri-Nacelled design! Where's my Dreadnought version of the Sovy Cryptic?? Money couldn't fly out of my wallet fast enough for that! Heck, make the Sovy D-nought a quad nacelle design like the Prometheus and I'd be happy too... Naturally a Phaser Lance would be required included!

My Galaxy-X was the first C-Store ship I bought when I started STO, took a while to get use to now I love it, got two toons who use it exculsively ,
    Toon 1,
All phaser, quad, dhc x 2 and single cannon 4 x turrets all XI Borg.
    Toon 2
Quad, tri, quantum dhc, 4 x turrets

Got the venture skin now if only there was a fleet version, don't want a saucer sep but less inertia better turn rate, mabe a redesigned saucer and neck with less volume more military looking. Don't use the cloak as I think it shouldn't be used. Doesn't seem right for the Feds.

It needs some love as there seem to be a power creep in the latest released ships and it feels like its getting left behind.

I used to fly this build almost exclusively, but then i bought my bortasqu' and once i iron out the build i might post it as i can out damage my dreadnought based on this build by a tonne, and the autocannon is only slightly worse than the lance yet the universal officer stations make the bortasqu' tactical cruiser deadly (plus its 5 tac consoles :P ). Many of my enemies sit in awe as the apparently clumsy and worthless school bus of a ship appears behind them and obliterates them. so Hakaishin if you're online in-game i'd be happy to test my ship versus yours :D might be a fairly even match

I'm curious about this build, does anyone use this build specifically for PVE (Elite STFS mostly?) I tried it, and I felt I was getting much less DPS from cannons then I was with my beams. I certainly did lose some of the tankiness, as with cannons you kinda have to stop and do the reverse firing strategy alot, while beams you could keep on cruising around.

Is this mostly a pvp build? I can certainly see the merit in it for that, but it just doesn't seem to work for PVE.. maybe I'm missing something huge?

Yes It was geared toward pvp exculsively. Beams are far easier to keep on target ehile moving that cannons, so that is what you are noticing. Best strategy for PVE is to do strafing runs.

Not always. This build is for targets with significantly less health than a standard pve borg. Most of its strategy is appearing suddenly and alpha striking for a one hit kill. Sustained combat is where it has difficulty. That said pve can be won with a pea shooter and lots of time so its really just down to how fas you want to kill your target not how fast can you kill your target.

In this case, no. I think Ive posted in this thread or another saying how this ship is a selfish ship. You dont bring anything to the table when it comes to the team. Its a ship geared to PvP pugging. Its really fun to use and kill noobs with. But in a team setting you dont have the sustained damage of an escort or heals of a cruiser. Your consoles, abilities and doffs are to maximize damage and turn rate.

With an optimized build, you can get a kill every 3 mins. You are hurting your team if you get kills every 3 mins. You have minimal heals and DEM is a waste when NPCs dont bother balancing their shields anyways. Help your team and get an escort.

When people refer to "if it works for PvP, it shold certainly work for PvE", its actually referring to the players who have a deep understanding of game mechanics, how to deal damage, how to stay alive against players who know just as much as the other guy. Builds are optimized (min maxed) and focused. The average PvP build will be more effective than your average PvE Kirk in his rainbow boat tactical Oddy with TS II, eng team III and mask energy signature. (example of random build)
