but onto point, it is possible that gozer is leaving to another game where he can get mroe ideas and techniques etc for PvP that he might possibly try ti input into STO PvP at a later date. They may all be moving on to get soem fresh air from their PWE Dungeon and eat something other then rice, and pick up some new idea for STO elsewhere.
If it's Logan being talked about, he left a couple months ago. Not exactly "3 devs in as many weeks"
I am not sure if it is him or not. All I did was suggest a name who I remember leaving most recently, aside from the heretic and gozer. Can you think of anyone else?
Some of you guys are reading way too much into this. It's not that big of a deal... really.
Working in the game industry is just like any other career. People change jobs for thousands of different reasons.
I'm just ready to do something different than MMO's. Cryptic makes MMO's so if I want to do something different I have to look elsewhere.
Employees cycle through Cryptic just like employees cycle through everywhere. Just like the probably do where you guys work. It doesn't mean anything so please stop trying to make it mean something.
Cryptic is a great company filled with bright creative people and leaving was a very hard decision.

Thought you were "ready to do something different than MMO's" back in 2010. Looks like you either never left, or came back not long after.
How long should we expect this "readyness" to last before you return to Cryptic?

Surly we must have conspiracy theories! Otherwise for what purpose does the internet exist? :-) Good luck to you where ever you end up!

At least Kevin Smith helped you out, huh?
Yes actually he did. That guy is awesome btw. I've had a couple more conversations with him about the topic and it really helped push me in the direction I needed to go

Cool, I saw your response to his SXSW panel.

This is true! but when 2 devs who build the 2 most interesting parts of STO like STF and Duty Officer System which i btw only things that i do in STO recently, leave in just of couple of weeks things are not looking good at all!

I know stuff happens, and plans change. But to ASK to take on PvP as has been reported, get everyone's hopes up, and then announce that you're leaving a month later sends a very bad message.
I think what many are concerned about is that PvP wasn't going to get done until someone "owned it". I may have heard you yourself say this in the STOked interview. Now will this get reassigned? Or will those who like PvP have to wait until someone else cares enough to step up?
Then there's the real possibility that this whole thing is being "managed". How likely would it be that you would actually admit it (and would your employers REALLY let you post about it) if you were actually disgruntled?
Well, speculation doesn't help anyone. I just hope that you have great success wherever you go -- your work has been appreciated by most, I think. And I hope that someone who truly loves Star Trek will replace you.
It's always sad/frightening when you hear of a dev going, but I assure you, this is how the industry is. The game industry has a HUGE amount of turnover compared to most others. At 7 years in one place, Heretic (and I) was like 140 in Dev years. Most people change companies in the 2-5 year time range. I guarantee this happens at every company that makes every game you play. The only difference is that we are in closer contact. You know our names, so it feels worse when we leave.
I'm not looking forward to Dan going, much as I was sad when Heretic left. But losing the two of them is not the end of the world, or even the end of the game. In fact, there was a new designer that started this morning.
:::goes off to hug Dan:::
I tied Logan's shoe laces together, and slashed Heretic's tires. . . what should I do to keep Dan around. . . ?
I've played enough MMOs to understand that's how it works. However, since the PWE purchase Dstahl, CptLogan, Heretic and now Gozer have jumped ship. Granted, Dstahl came back but that's still a little unsettling. It makes me wonder what are these devs seeing behind the scenes that we aren't.

And the year and a half before PW, many more devs had come and gone. I understand that these guys are more visible to you guys, so it seems like a bigger change, but really, people come and go all the time, for differing reasons.

taco wont leave we will collectivly chain him to his work station
The reason I'm so rubbed the wrong way, is all of this happening at once. The great forum migration, the apprehension of Season Six, two very prominent devs leaving, (including the one everyone was hoping could save Pvp).
Sure these things happen, but it's hard to not be disappointed with what has been occurring.

I think to some degree most people are more along the lines of upset that some of the ones they enjoyed the most are leaving as there are some at the same time we would rather see gone and to *not come back* LOL.

Stop the easily abused and unfair auto-silence "feature"!
But now we have the horror that is the stupid Proto Tech "OMG I AM LUCKY" system. And there is no longer any skill required to do well inthe game...
GG, BB and dont let the door hit you on the way out.

Alas... Best of luck to you, Heretic and Gozer.
