*Pegasus Prime, Hood's Landing. Luke walks into an alleyway with a rucksack. He then climbs a fire escape before climbing onto the roof. He looks around, walking past the roof access.*

    Tara: You came.

*He turns around to see Tara walk over to him from the roof access.*

    Luke: Of course I came.

P-Sec are throwing a fit. They've got half the Hood's Landing Precinct looking for you.

    Tara: They won't find me.

    That is, if you managed...?

Luke: Your stuff's in the bag. Well, as much as I could sneak off the Zhiyal. Explaining away your change of clothes was not fun. You owe me for the underwear explanation.

    *Tara smiles.*

Tara: I promise, if we see each other again, I'll make it worth it. And a hell of a lot more.

    Luke: 'If'?

*Tara looks away, her face sullen.*

    That's what I thought.

You're not convinced you'll come back, are you? You're not even convinced we'll be able to see each other again.

    Tara *breaking up*: Luke, please...

Luke: Tara, I love you. I mean it. I really do.

    Just let me help you.

Tara *breaking up*: You can't. I can't stay, Luke.

Luke: Then I'll come with you.

Tara *breaking up*: No. That's not fair on you.

    Luke: Tara--!

*She turns to him, hugging him.*

Tara *crying*: I just... I just need to go. Please, just let me go.

Luke *breaking up*: Is that what Kenabi would do?

*Tara looks up to him, seeing his heart break, and hers shatter.*

Tara *crying*: I promise, we'll see each other again. I promise.

*She puts a hand on his cheek, before kissing him. She takes his bag as they make out, before slowly backing away.*

I love you, Luke. I'm gonna miss you.

    Luke *crying*: Tara...

*She backs onto the fire escape.*

    Tara *crying*: Goodbye.

*She disappears down the stairwell as Luke stands there, tears rolling down his cheek.*

Meanwhile ONI prowler in orbit of reach.

Mathers: you said they wouldn't find any of the weapons or link them to any unsc

Anders: while this is unfortunate they haven't proven it yet. But if the rebels did manage to lose any PAC weapons that is trouble. Let's hope they didn't lose the nova war head that we supplies them.

Mathers: what is the purpose of helping the rebels. What does ONI or the unsc gain from it.

Anders: if everything goes as planned a lot. This will make sure the republic doesn't become to big. Be honest captain do you think it is wise to have an ally like this that doesn't run into problems from time to time. This makes sure they don't get to big.

Mathers: and if you get caught.

Anders: easy we claim it was old insurgent cells that where supplying them the weapons.

Mathers: I still think it's to risky an opt.

Anders: if you don't like it leave. But know that ONI will always be watching then.

Mathers: sigh I will do what needs to be done.

Anders: good. And don't worry everything will work out just fine.

    Reach Strauss's office

Strauss: I can still firmly say the unsc will have a part in the war effort as long as I'm here. It may not be as strong as I want it to be but I have no intentions of leaving. The unsc has shown its resilience time and again and we will continue to do so.

If you need anything else, you can reach me over comms.

Maelstrom wasn't quite happy with the selection. Nothing was alive that came out of the replicator. He ate what he could stomach and then contacted Hammond with his communicator, "Thank you for the meal, Admiral, I would like that tour now if you're free.." He had been slightly disappointed the Admiral hadn't stayed for dinner with him, but somewhat understood.. the other races could be so squeamish about their dinners.

    Reporter 3: Thank you.

That was General Strauss, head of the UNSC Forces in the Milky Way and, apparently, the UNSC has taken significant losses against the Papal Mainframe. Back to the studio.

*The screen changes again back to the desk.*

    Reporter: Alright, thank you, Tarek.

Now, newly appointed Vice President Ronald Clark was in a Senate Meeting last night discussing the events on Eris II. We at RIN News were able to get this exclusive interview with him.

*The screen changes to show the Vice President.*

Reporter: Mr Vice President, can you comment on the situation on Eris II?

Clark: The situation on Eris II is highly unstable right now. I'm afraid that I cannot comment at this moment.

Reporter: But, what has the Senate decided?

Clark: The Senate is still in deliberations.

Reporter: What about the President? Have the two of you made any--?

Clark: We are considering all options. Now, please, excuse me.

*The clip ends and returns to the studio.*

Reporter: So, as you just saw, an interesting statement by the Vice President, that the government is 'considering all options'.

Of course, now the situation appears under some control, with the insurgent leader captured and Republic troops retaking the city.

    More on this later.

Dani: Chances are we'll be boarded by the Eblisi once we enter the combat zone. The husks use swarm tactics, but they're just as vulnerable to phasers as the rest of us. The Banshees are too, but they're fast and loud. Keep your distance and don't get in their way, unless you want to be treated for a week in sickbay with deafness.

Do not let the brutes anywhere near you. Concentrate fire. As for the Marauders, they're ranged attackers. If you can get close, they're fairly vulnerable.

And, for god's sake, don't get killed. Stay in your teams and work together. Understood?

*S.S. Tora Zhiyal. Lochley walks into Drake's Ready Room.*

Lochley: You wanted to see me, Dan?

Drake: What the hell, Cass? You saw Tara on Anarky. You know she didn't do this.

Lochley: What I saw was a 16 year-old girl nearly kill someone with her bare hands.

    Drake: Cass--

Lochley: I didn't say I don't believe her, but my hands are tied. The evidence isn't good, Dan.

Drake: Samana Tri'an murdered Darik Kenabi, not Tara.

Lochley: Dan... the murder weapon has Tara's DNA on it.

*Drake looks up at her in shock.*

    Drake: That's not possible.

Lochley: Darik's sister even said that she was suspicious of Tara and that she thought Darik was in danger with Tara.

Drake: Tara did tell him about the cartel.

Lochley: No one saw a single Orion on Mari on the day of the murder.

Like I said, it doesn't look good for her.

*Pegasus Prime, Hood's Landing. Tara is wearing a hoody, with the hood up, as she knocks on the door of an apartment. The door opens as a Vulcan women in her 20s stands at the threshold.*

    Vulcan: Tara?

Tara: Hey, Tavell. I... need some help.

*A few minutes later, Tavell hands her a mug of spice tea before sitting down next to her.*

Tavell: It seems you are indeed in a problematic situation.

    Tara: That's an understatement.

Tavell: However, I am not sure how I can assist you.

Tara: I need to get out of Hood's Landing without P-Sec identifying me.

Tavell: You believed I could smuggle you out of the city?

Tara: I won't get out of the city without being ID'ed unless I have a valid identicard and I can't use mine for obvious reasons.

Tavell: You want me to provide you with false documents?

Tara: You work for Planetary Operations. This is practically a daily routine for you.

Tavell: It would be difficult... but doable. However, logically, would it not be easier for you to prove your innocence by turning yourself in?

Tara: Tavell, logically, P-Sec would have checked my own diary and interviewed me before putting out a warrant for my arrest.

    Tavell: I see your point.

P-Sec will logically contact your past associates as part of their hunt for you. You should not remain here. Meet me here again in 6 hours. I will have your new identicard ready for you.

    Tara: Thank you, Tavell.

*Tara hugs her before grabbing her back and walking out.

Meanwhile, Luke is walking around the city, when he sees a figure run through an alleyway, wearing a red hoody - the same colour as Tara's.*

    Luke: Tara?

*He ducks into the alleyway. He sees the shadow of two large figures before pulling out his phaser and running round the corner, flying into a clothesline as a large Orion Brute stands over him.

As he wakes from his black-out, Luke feels his nose bleeding as the girl in the red hoody walks over, lowering her hood.*

    Samana: No, Luke. Not Tara.

    Pick him up.

*The brutes pick him up, restraining him by his arms.*

Luke: If you're planning on torturing me, just shoot me and get it over with!

*Samana walks up to him, touching his cheek seductively.*

Samana: Why would I shoot you? All I want is Tara.

Luke: Not going to work. I've been inoculated against your pheromones.

    Samana: You're bluffing.

    Luke: Try me.

    *Samana smiles.*

Samana: I see why she fell for you. Unfortunately, I don't have the patience for games.

*She nods and one of the brutes punches him in the gut. Luke nearly crumples to the floor from the attack.*

    Where is Tara?

    Luke: Go to hell!

    *The brute hits him again.*

    Samana: Now.

    Luke: Even if I knew...

*He looks up, glaring at her.*

    I wouldn't tell you, targ.

*The brutes go to hit him again.*

    Samana: Wait.

He's telling the truth. He genuinely doesn't know.

That makes him worth something alive.

Bring him back to the ship.

Maelstrom got bored waiting for Hammonds to respond to his coms. He didn't know about this new power he had encountered, but he was already getting annoyed by their handling of him. He would walk out of the galleys and wonder the halls, looking for a terminal. While he waited for the good Admiral, he'd try to bring himself up to speed on the latest technologies and find a nearby shipyard where he can put the Dragon Emperor in for retrofit for a new electromagnetic propulsion rail weapon he had been designing before he even entered the gate.

The spinal mounted device would launch a 1 foot diameter shell with a micro warp core meant for a probe. Once it was safely outside the warp field of the ship, the shell.. whose warhead was a solely antimatter separated from the rest of the shell by a magnetic field until impact.. would go to warp and continue to accelerate until it impacted the target. The kinetic velocity permitted by the frictionless coil-gun and warp engine would convey an enormous amount of energy, and if it made contact with a hull, the antimatter would react with the armor of the target annihilating it and generating a massive energy burst giving it a sort of armor penetrating effect. With an automated loading and firing mechanism, it could fire several rounds per minute from a pre-loaded magazine. The antimatter would be provided by the ships warp engines.

If only Hammonds would show up so he could find a shipyard to install it, it might actually bring his weapons into line with the current era. After all, no one can ignore the laws of physics. While anti-proton streams were nice.. they didn't deliver the full power of the package at once.. resulting in only a steady state energy drain effect on target shields.. this system would deliver several hundred isotons yields to targets.

With the weapon traveling at warp, the target wouldn't realize it was en-route until impact.. except for seeing its launch. Only sensors of ships traveling on a parallel course would be able to detect it, most of the ships of this era should be able to take sensor readings and project the shells current position, but the ship it was aimed at would not be able to receive those readings until well after the shell impact. He wondered if this new Republic had the same weapons restrictions as the Federation... He hoped not.
