He soon hears the sounds of PAC fire as he sees odst arrive and begin firing at whoever he assumes fired the rocket.

Kovan turns as a figure steps out of the smoke pointing a rifle at him before he can turn fully to fire he sees his would be attacker pierced through the chest by two bright crimson blades of a sanghelli energy sword as the black and red figure decloaks and steps from the smoke.
Kovan: I was hoping you guys where close.
The sanghelli nods as he cloaks and rushes back into the smoke. The crimson shadow where an elite sanghelli unit used to protect high ranking unsc officers. Some of the best and ruthless warriors kovan had ever seen. Kovan makes his way to a small group of ODST firing from a blown out wall.
Kovan: how bad is it?
ODST: sir we can't get a comm signal through and we detect at least 45 attackers using heavy weapons. Out security detail is only 10.
They duck as the area is racked with an explosion.
ODST: we also don't have many heavy weapons either sir.

ODST: the rest of my squad sir. The only ones to hold them off are us and whatever shadows are here as well.
Kovan nods as he starts to realize the grim outlook of their situation.
