I logged out to change characters and was told my password was invalid when I attempted to log back in. After several attempts to type it, I'm absolutely certain I was typing it correctly and had "Cryptic" and not "Perfect World" selected, but it was still not working, either for the game or the website. I successfully reset it and I'm back in now, in any case.
There are a load of people complaining of the same happening to them in the in-game chat, btw.

I clicked the "forgot password" link on the website's login page. It worked for me.
I swear as much as I enjoy this game, this garbage is getting on my nerves.
Exact same thing just happened to me, and of course I can't submit a ticket because now I don't have an account, evidently. Since the "Forgot my Password" button takes you back to the homepage, I'm guessing they're doing it themselves, harvesting credit card information or whatever nefarious purpose. After the lock box scam, nothing would surprise me.
Any thoughts on how to recover it or if it's worth the effort? My fear is that the account has been TRIBBLE, and my credit card and personal information is still on record with the account info. Is there a legal course I should look into taking since PW refuses to address the issue?
Yep, this issue is exactly happening to me also. The "Forgot password" sends me directly to the Homepage unfortunately...
I went to support and sent PWE my E-mail and @handle to let the devs know about this login issue. Now since I can't play neither Star Trek Online or Champions Online atm, all I can do is wait for a response.
Same here. Reset password email got rerouted to my spamfolder... I got nervous and opened up a ticket, restored access to my account in the meanwhile. Everything seemed in working order, characters where I left them, items in expected amounts. Odd!
having the same issue. also if i try it via the Support im forwarded to Perfect world. if i want to login there it dont work if im trying to register there it says my email is in use.
also the recover Link allways takes me back to the startpage. got no emails even in ma junkfolder.
edit i cannot even change anything on the website ex my passwort because it tells me that its the wrong one.
A Tech or Dev needs to come on here ASAP and explain what happened. They're always on here 5 minutes after the servers crash, so why isn't anyone on here now?
so a little bit of tricking got me solved this problem.
first go to support page there you need to login. of course it wont accept your PW ,but if you click on" forget your Pw "you will get a link send where you can set a new pw for the support page. this will also be ne the pw for the Website/game.
So, this problem has also leaked over to CO.. Someone had made a comment that the account server is having issues at the moment.. How accurate that is is yet to be seen.

Something was definitely up, and it wasn't my password being typed wrong. Nor did it appear that my account was hijacked. Because I copied what I typed into the password for the launcher in and it let me change it through the account page.
Quick edit for those who don't know, but to change your password through your account settings you need to type your current password in. So it sounds like the account system is borked at the moment. Hopefully.

If you still can't reset, try logging out of the forums and try the "forgot password" link again from the forums' login, rather than from the in-game login.
I've heard that works and I wasn't logged into the forums myself when I reset mine. Can't be sure about it though.
I've had this happen to me twice this week. The first time I reset my password with the link from my account page, which let me log in, but then the next day my password was back to the old one. It just happened to me again and I've changed both my contact email and my password. We'll see what happens now...

Not only can I not log in, but their password reset isn't working. And yes, I'm doing it from a browser that is not logged in (and has never been logged in to this account, I use IE for nothing.
The PW reset link says it's sending an email to my address. Tried it twice in the last 10 minutes, no email yet. I've reset my STO password before, so I know how it works.
Edit: never mind, Gmail decided Cryptic's emails were spam.

Never got an email, but I just reset my password and it is working again. Why this is happening I am not sure but I would like to see a dev post at least something on here with some explanation.
It also happened to me this week as well, I just simply reset the password. I also got a notice saying I someone was trying to gain unauthorized access...which it was me trying to gain access from work and for whatever reason, since I often come on at work during the week, it wouldn't let me, forcing me to make a new password, even though I was still logged in from at home.

I have not received any email and every time I choose the "forgot password" option it defaults to the home page.
