Please help us. I know it has been said before by others, but now it is just becoming a major annoyance!
People just enter PVP ques to obtain dilithium. They do not even proceed to move from spawn point and engage opposition throughout the whole match.
If dilithium rewards breed this type of selfish players, please remove dilithium from PVP missions in the short term. It only ruins gameplay for the rest who actually want to PVP.
Long term, associate it with the scoring mechanics. Winning team gets X amount, losing team gets Y amount provided they score points and not just sit at spawn points.
X reward should be significantly more than Y to breed the right mind set
umm....
based on how difficult it is to get an actual pvp match going, particularly at lower levels, i'd rather just leave the afk-ers alone. AT least with them i can get a pvp match in the first place.

besides, 2v2 and 2v3 are far more fun
You serious??? Leave AFKers in the match? Hard to get PVP match going? Seems like you dont know how to use the queing mechanics!
An easy way to solve the issue with Dilithium farmers in PVP would be to tie your personal score in the match to the amount of Dilithium you can earn from the match. No score, no Dilithium. Simple as that.
Just hoping that whatever PvP updated dstahl alluded to in one of his posts will address this issue. Dilithium rewards should be based on participation (damage, shield/hull healing other players, debuffing enemies, etc.) rather than mere attendance. Reward the good PvP players, or the people who at least try, and not the people who just sit around for a hand-out.
Do what you can to get more private matches goin. Let the AFK'ers queue and stare at each other all day.
Best solution possible, I think. I don't want to give up my dilithium. Do you know how many matches it takes to hit your 8k limit? With the limited time I have recently, I never manage it, and aside from DOFFs, PvP is my only source.
I dont know anymore.... I dont have fun in pvp much of late,,, and this is just one of the problems its so many things lately... mako shields then the bug shield then science resist fest and even before that there was something wrong with sci imo.
Anyhow Ill stay on vent and if anyone of tsi happens to be online you can ask them to ask ous to make a team.
Yes, everyone under the age of18 should not get dilithium!
On topic, ran a few matches today in the queues, ended up 5v4. This really sucks. Do they even get rewards and credit for completing if they don't contribute?
Also, trying to scale rewards based on performance is tricky, as science ships generally don't deal damage and don't put out massive healing (can be considerably less than a well-build cruiser). Cruisers always get the best scores, because of their high tanking/healing and their high damage. Then we run into the same issue as TOR; they had a medal system, in which achieving certain milestones in a match (like 75k damage) gives a medal, worth extra PvP XP and commendations (tokens).
There are 4 categories: Damage, Healing, Protection, and Objective. Most of the time, in the Cap&Hold map, anyone protecting a side objective wouldn't get a high score and would only get 2-3 medals for standing on an Objective, the same problem you would find in C&H in STO (anyone that tries to get objectives usually gets a lower score). Protection is the "tanking" number, the amount of damage that is mitigated from other players. The issue with this is that certain classes have a "tank" tree and 2 dps trees into which you can spec; you can either go almost fully into 1 tree or split between 2, but you lose the higher-tier skills. Regardless of spec, even the dps trees get 2 skills that provide Protection: a single-target and an AoE taunt that cause enemies to deal 30% less damage when not attacking you. So for instance, a tank pops that skill in the middle of a big battle and he immediately gets a high Protection score. However, DPSers can do the same thing, so these guys get more medals, leading to better gear faster. Healers has a smaller pool of medals than DPSers, so why play a tank or healer when you can get better gear faster by playing a DPS.
They solved this by making a cap on the number of medals you can get in a match, but to compensate they raised the reward per medal. I haven't been back to TOR since Patch 1.2, so I don't know if they did anything about rewards per match since this solution was implemented a month ago.
This still leaves Sci ships in a sticky situation: how do you quantify Viral Matrix or Scramble Sensors?
they'll probably fix it long after the majority of the interesting players leave for greener pastures.
But i hope they do start taking pvp concerns seriously - because i find like klingon vs fed - there really is no separation.
We all Pvp, we all PVE the only difference is the quantity. Both facets of the games deserve equal attention or you'll just end up cheating your game and your playerbase in the long run.
to everyone who wants to give up dilithium to get rid of farmers.
Please don't advocate dumb ideas. I mean - i get it, cryptic hasnt demonstrated any apparent ability to implement efficient ways to curb farming thus far.
But giving them bad ideas to solve it won't help either. I'm leaning toward the hope that they arent so lazy as to just take dilithium to stop farming *cough* Seeing as how i vaguely remember this very idea being implemented recently and how it only resulted in ruining some other area of the game - Remember?
It's clear that 'removing dilithium' from pvp is a poor solution, as the farmers will just go find the next most efficent way to farm it - meanwhile the 'change' will leave All the other legitimate players without yet another way to enjoy pvp and be rewarded for their trouble.
Aye, the most simple solution isn't necessarily the best.
PvP for the fun of it is great as always. Unfortunately with the way the game has changed to put so much focus on money, the idea of removing dilithium rewards from PvP is more a punishment than anything. The thought that I'd be forced to further grind an aspect of the game that I honestly can't stand is very unappealing.
Doffs are great but only provide so much. PvP is flawed but awesome. PvE makes me want to hurt things.

That is the way to go! Combine heals with damage and give dilithium accordingly.
Edit: if you have a sci ship, then add a multiplier, so if you dont do squat, the reward is 0xmultiplier. That for the fast fix. For the long term, quantify the sci abilities and add them in the score mechanics. The numbers are already there, taking offline a system, draining shields, etc.

Sigh warp out leave him there
Defiantly need's some solution afkers infest the Ques.:(
<-- Is frustrated with art
dunno what game you're playing but queue times are no where near optimal for me. Perhaps you're counting when you set up matches with fleeties.
I get pops within minutes almost everytime!
then you must be the luckiest panda ever, 5-10 minutes minimum, 15-20 on the long end. I can actually queue and finish other dailys before it pops.
As a Pugger I unfortunately agree.
Thanks for saying it

Take you lumps and try something beside just filtering air next time.
you do know that queing for other things then taking those pops clears all other ques right?

Uhh, yeah, no.
Fix it properly or leave it.
I for one would be willing to forfeit my dilithium, if it gets rid of the filthy AFK'ers.
But i hope they do start taking pvp concerns seriously - because i find like klingon vs fed - there really is no separation.

Would you be lenient for a mere boy of 7?
ditto on this

how about we try something new?

yeah, there's a lot of 'minors' ruining PvP, and the STO Community in general.
these minors are called Sad Pandas.

the dilithium miners I couldn't care less about. they're probably not minors.
You've got to be kidding me, you just don't stop with this constant flow of insults towards the fleet. Dude, give it a rest.
