TRIBBLE Maintenance and Release Notes - March 20, 2012

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
We will be bringing the Tribble server down for maintenance to apply a new update.
ST.17.20120318a.3

General:
  • The camera is now closer to all ships in space
  • The STF stores no longer trade EDCs for Cardassian Lock Boxes.
  • Dilithium Store: Replaced White/Common quality Mk 2 consoles with Blue/Rare quality Mk 2 consoles
  • Added maximum auction price of 500,000,000.
  • Lt. Ferra and Lt. S'staas can now help players whose commendation rank does not reflect their actual commendation points.
    • Speak to the appropriate officer and ask to "Update Commendation Records," then choose the branch that is misfiled.
      • Your commendation rank should be updated appropriately.
  • Resolved an issue that could cause players to not get the proper Commendation rank assigned based on their CXP.
  • Resolved an issue that was preventing recent Diplomacy commendations from allowing access to the Federation diplomacy Duty Officer store.
  • Added audio for when players tap their badge or wrist to beam up.
  • The banks on DS9 have been updated for KDF players to remove references to the Federation.
  • Klingon players will now correctly be put directly into Gamma Orionis when selecting that option.
    • This should resolve the issue for all occurrences.
  • Updated Cage of Fire so the transwarp buttons now take the player to the correct location outside TRD 071944.
  • Players will no longer be stuck in Red Alert mode when exiting combat with a non-combat melee attack set to auto-attack.

Duty Officers:
  • Adjusted the distribution of Duty Officer assignments throughout the game.
    • Among other things, the primary reason is to make it easier to find assignment chains and featured assignments.
  • In the Duty Officer user interface, "Shipboard" has been renamed "Personal".
  • Ship interior functionality! In ship interiors are now a set of department-specific contacts.
    • Sector and some formerly "Shipboard" assignments are now available from these contacts
      • The selection is unique to each player, so if you go to your friend's ship, you will see a different set of assignments.
      • The assignments are specific to the contact - you will see Engineering assignments from the Engineering Officer, Military and Espionage from the Tactical Officer, etc.
    • Some assignments that required items - such as the items from "Children's Toys" or the turrets and torpedo platform schematics, or Tribble genetic engineering, or data sample turn-ins - are now always available from these contacts, assuming you have not recently done that specific assignment.
    • Some assignments have been completely moved to the ship interior, such as the Bartender and Chef assignment chains.
    • Some of the new shipboard contacts will allow you to complete assignments for hypos, critical components, regenerators, batteries, etc., although there are some level minimums for some of these items.
  • Modestly buffed hit points and damage of consumable turrets and torpedo platforms acquireable through Duty Officer assignments.
  • Consulate assignment chain rewards should no longer give Bajorans as the repeatable reward.
    • Except the Bajoran consulate assignment chain, and that one should now give Bajorans of the correct quality.
  • The repeatable assignment at the end of the DS9 species Consulate assignment chains no longer accepts Photonic Duty Officers.
  • The repeatable assignment at the end of the DS9 species Consulate assignment chains now properly have cooldowns.
  • Resolved several issues with the Facility 4028 assignment chain including improper faction rewards.
  • Resolved nine day long duration for one of the links in the assignment chain involving the fugitives from Facility 4028.
  • The repeatable assignment at the end of the "Children's Toys" Mark XII console chain no longer restricts the Duty Officers from being of the Medical or Security branches.
  • Added "Bartender" and "Chef" titles to Chef and Bartender chains for Failure and Disaster outcomes. These have been added to the repeatable versions of that step of the chain as well, so if you did not get it before you can do the repeatable and get it that way.
  • The assignment "Confiscate Contraband from Crew" always gives at least one Contraband.
  • The assignment "Confiscate Contraband from Crew" now properly takes up an assignment slot.
  • Resolved "Supply Classified Project" assignment slotting issues.
  • Adjusted the rarities and rewards of many assignments to take into account the changes in availability with shipboard interior contacts.
    • Many assignments in Personal assignment chains - formerly Shipboard - are now more commonly available, since a player only gets one chance every hour to find them.
  • Vorta Biochemist can now be on the Reserve Roster and need not be actively slotted in order to make Ketrecel White available for replication.
  • Adjusted upwards the rewards for "Analyze Data from Unmanned" Jem'Hadar ship repeatable assignment; the assignment was not using the correct set of rewards for an assignment of that length.
  • Starfleet and Klingon Academies now have Personnel Officer contacts who handle the periodic requisitions of Duty Officers.
    • These replace the old cadre assignments.
    • For a price in Dilithium Personnel Officers can also convert five Duty Officers of one quality into a random Duty Officer of the next-higher quality.
    • Some species-specific Personnel Officers also exist that guarantee the new Duty Officer will be of particular species.
  • ESD and Q'onoS now have Security Officer contacts who handle the redemption of Tribble Bounties, prisoner exchanges and turn-ins of Contraband.
    • These replace the old assignments that did the same thing.
  • Deep Space Nine now has a Ferengi Trader contact who provides a supplementary set of Trade Duty Officer assignments, seeing as ship interiors do not otherwise provide such a supplementary set of assignments.
  • Added new Medical shipboard assignments.
  • Changed offending Bajoran Male Counselor name after said Counselor's attempt to provide therapy to a human crewmember resulted in gales of laughter that were not able to be ceased until the Bajoran counselor fled the room red-faced.

Missions:
  • Updated the Federation Big Dig, Romulan Temple Fleet Action:
    • In an effort to improve the fun and playability of this Fleet Action, several changes have been made to reduce and simplify objectives.
      • Stage 1 now only requires 16 scientists to be rescued.
      • Stage 2, defeat 150 Romulans, has been removed.
      • Stage 3 now requires 12 artifacts to be secured by a Force Field Generators.
      • Stage 4 has been altered from defeating 20 Romulan and Reman captains to defeating a single summoned enemy at the top of the temple.
    • Additional Changes:
      • Players may now carry up to 5 Force Field Generators at once.
      • Force Fields around artificts no longer have collision so players will no longer get stuck in them and need to beam out.
      • Enemy mobs near respawn locations have been thinned out.
      • Enemy patrols travelling up and down the temple stairs have been removed.
    • We expect the amount of time needed by a large group to complete this Fleet Action to have significantly been reduced by these changes. Enjoy!
  • The Dominion Featured Series is now integrated into normal progression.
    • For Feds, the series is after Cage of Fire and for KDF it's after the Romulan series.
  • Added class specific objectives and accolades to Facility 4028.
  • Updated Boldly They Rode to ensure there are no issues with shooter mode.
  • "Defeated Changeling" item will now disappear 5 minutes after being obtained. This item was never intended to leave the Holodeck Simulation where it is obtained.
  • War Zone missions are now daily missions.

Ships:
  • The Type 6 material is now available on the Advanced Odyssey Cruiser.
  • Updated the material name for the Galor ship so it now displays as Cardassian Type 2.
  • Launching the Aquarius escort from the rear of the Odyssey Advanced Cruiser no longer corrupts the ship image in the status window.
  • Updated the description of the Bortasqu’ to correct the number of consoles available.

Systems:
  • Carrier Pet Commands will now only be sent to pets owned by the player, instead of their entire team.
  • Shield damage is now reported in the combat log.
  • Added default traits to Alien species for both Fed and KDF.
    • They can still be customized - these traits are only suggestions.
  • Houdini Mines: Fixed a bug that caused you to be unable to avoid the delayed explosion effect.
  • Updated the Shard of Possibilities:
    • Both FED and KDF versions now have Remodulation.
    • Duration increased from 20 seconds to 30 seconds.
    • Cooldown reduced from 10 minutes to 5 minutes.
    • Quantum Shadows now behave differently in Social areas.
  • Borg now adapt to damage dealt by plasma grenade fire.
  • Resolved a typo in the tooltip for Jam Sensors.

UI:
  • The cursor has been updated so that it’s more visible.
  • The character Status window will no longer show all ships when near a ship selector.
  • Duty Officer portraits no longer extend outside the exchange sell item bar.
  • The Duty Officer cargo bay will now also display data samples.
  • Resolved an issue where the popup in the exchange would incorrectly choose a Duty Officer when interacting with the scrollbar.
  • Players are now informed before every Dilithium Exchange transaction that the C-points being sold are coming from their personal balance.
  • Resolved an issue that would cause the health bar in space to display incorrectly at low healths.
  • The energy credits icon no longer appears as a white icon in the ship rename popup.
  • Resolved an issue that would sometimes cause the Exp Bar to not reappear until after changing maps or hitting escape.
    • Note: This change will not apply to characters that have previously hidden the Exp Bar.
  • Made the ship selection and status window a little bit wider.
  • Set bonus no longer appears as 0/3 if other consoles are highlighted in the ship status window.

These two changes are slightly worrying.

From the dialogue with Ambassador Surah, the Borg conference at DS9 is obviously set after the Breen series, but wouldn't this place it before it?

Hopefully the cursor visibility changes aren't too extreme. The current one on holodeck is fine for me - I would hate to be stuck with an oversized golden one or something.

Other than that, sounds brilliant. Looking forward to testing out the new DOff features.

Added maximum auction price of 500,000,000.

I don't understand the point of this, some items are worth more than 500 mil EC such as the Jem'Hadar ship. Also since this game lacks significant sinks for EC, inflation is going to continue to push those values higher and higher.

I'm shocked. I'll happily peek at this tonight.

Apparently, a cap is necessary to prevent what you're suggesting. If you feel that cap is too low, what is acceptable in your opinion?

I think it's to prevent people from using the Exchange for item storage.

Keep in mind people can still trade an item for currency for more than 500 million credits -- just not on the exchange.

I just played around with the ship interior, and I love having all those DOFF missions there! Awesome!

    A few things, though:

    1) If you "cancel" the DOFF mission, the NPC interface blanks it if you talk to the NPC again. Is there a way to redo the mission?
    2) Could you please add a "Leave Interior" button when you're in the Crew Deck and Engineering Deck for the Constitution and Defiant interiors, now that there's a reason to head to the bowels of our ships regularly? Pretty please?
    3) A lot of people are going to freak that the new NPCs on the Constitution interior have the current era uniforms. I'd probably recommend fixing that.

Also, what specifically ties the Breen series into "The 2800". I can't remember any specific dialogue, but then again, it's been over 6 weeks since I read the Deferi's responses.

If it's just the fact he's there, don't forget you meet him on K-7 for the diplomacy mission, so it's not that.

Yes, yes it was.. because you can't double click to equip items at the ship, just remove. you can double click to remove *and* equip when you're just nearby and have all your ships available.

    Duty Officers:
Apparently, a cap is necessary to prevent what you're suggesting. If you feel that cap is too low, what is acceptable in your opinion?
A cap on the exchange does nothing to prevent inflation, that's what EC sinks are for. You can't force ECs to have value by hard capping things; either a currency has value to players or it doesn't.
I think it's to prevent people from using the Exchange for item storage.
At 500 million EC, I can still store plenty of items on the exchange with no fear of anyone being dumb enough to actually buy them. Plus I can store these items in the mailbox, making them easily accessible to all of my other characters on an account.
Keep in mind people can still trade an item for currency for more than 500 million credits -- just not on the exchange.
Which means we'll start to get people spamming zone chat to sell items, plus anyone who has an item for sale that is worth >500 million ends up having to stand around for hours at a time looking for a buyer.

One of the things I've liked about this game over other MMOs is the exchange doesn't have any fees in place. That encourages players to actually use the exchange rather than spamming zone chat in an attempt to save a few credits.

At the moment, the only thing really effected by this 500 million cap would be the Jem'Hadar ship. However what about 6 months from now, when cryptic has introduced more lockbox ships, inflation has continued to rise, and possibly other ultra rare items have been introduced? I simply don't see any positive benefits from a change like this, and it could cause potential issues down the road.

... can you ad punctuation to the UI when entering values please?

    Ship interior functionality!
... I hope the contacts offer the same functionality as the standard Boff UI.
I really don't have time to run around.

Added class specific objectives and accolades to Facility 4028.

It's only worth what people are willing to pay. If its been sitting in there since Christmas then you price is higher than it is worth. Same goes for the Galor, I sold mine for only 100M.

... although the new limit is a bit weird and I am not sure what they are trying to accomplish

BRAVO for ship interior functionality! I look forward to more of that, as it makes it more in harmony with what we see on the shows and movies. I think it'd also be kinda cool to be able to play with the alerts on the ship interiors, maybe for a drill scenerio or dealing with an intruder.

I actually like that you can see all the ships when you open the status window near a ship selector person. It makes it easier to transfer consoles/weapons/equipment between two or more ships. It also makes it easier to rename a ship rather than having to go change to the particular ship, rename it, and change out again.

While I think on it, though, is there an ETA for resolution on the TNG series/movie combadge clipping issues, or the missing neck/shoulder and lower leg/ankle spots for Trill characters?

You're right that the Deferi don't seem related to the Borg situation from the Breen feature series. However, the Deferi are tied into the Borg conference due to the periodic Borg invasion of Defera events.

Not only that, but Ambassador Surah seems to know your character, as if they have met before. The only way that would be possible is if the character has done the Breen series.

[*]The STF stores no longer trade EDCs for Cardassian Lock Boxes.

Am I missing something? Since when does the STF store trade EDCs for Cardassian Lock Boxes?

I guess they mean removing the Mystery (not Cardassian) boxes that YOU trade EDCs for.

    Never Mind...

(There's a BUG with some of the Medical Assignments from the Doctor in Sickbay...

If you open the 'Assemble Medical Gear' Assignments (Hypos & such) to just look at them and then close them, when you go back to that UI Screen, those particular Assignments are no longer available even though all ya did was look at them.

Same problem with the Bartender... the 'Pour A Drink' & ' Special Reserve' Assignments become unavailable if ya just look at them.)

    Ignore all that...

I just noticed that the assignments go to your Personal DOff Asignment List...

    My bad... :o

I'll be damned.. Nu-Guinan made me Tulaberry Wine.. :D

I think I'm going to be spending WAAAAaaayy to much time in Ten Forward. <chuckle>

It is shaky continuity at best. the dialog in the conference clearly mentions every bad thing that happened to the Deferi recently, like the Borg Invasion and the Breen incident.

The only way to fit this in would be at endgame after the Breen series, maybe before the Undine front.

That, or replace the Ambassador with a Romulan in Second Wave, which would probably require way too much reworking of the mission and new dialog to be recorded.

The odyssey zoom is still not right. if you zoom in all the way from the back it will zoom in so far that all you see are two red lights from the engines and nothing else.

    http://i738.photobucket.com/albums/xx26/revo_2010/screenshot_2012-03-21-09-16-49.jpg

I dont know if the mining daily is working yet, but i took it and went to the asteroid field. i put the suit on but it would not let me leave the airlock. i had it activated as it said but i could not continue any further. EDIT - it seems the new suits dont work yet. only the FE suit works.

while the cheap suit is only 100 dilithium, which is fine, the other 3 are stupidly expensive. i dont see any value in the prices other than the colour of the suit. one was 350'000 dilithium, for nothing extra. you could equip an entire ship for that.

I think there should be a visit the bridge button on the personal window. it lets people know there are more assignments in the ship, and it helps to get the button from just the drop down arrow. im sure some people still dont even know there have bridges and interiors so it would give it more exposure.

can we have it so that in combat when our ships release a combat pet like a saucer or in MVAM, that the white box that appears around it is a different colour? its so hard to tell if you pet was destroyed when so many other white boxes for your team mates are flying around.

i did 4 of the smaller assignments like fixing a drink or making a hypo, and it says failure. but while 1 was a total failure the other 3 still gave me some rewards. can the text be changed to 'limited success' or something?

I like the fact that there are still some assignments showing on personal while in space, and its cool to explore your ship for more. i can see it getting a little tedious after a while but thats kind of the sacrifice of wanting more stuff to do in your ship. for the most part i liked it. the assignments in the science room where very nice, good xp and rewards for using up those data samples.

the ultimate goal however is still to be able to dress our crew how we like. some way to change their uniforms would be very good.

might also be a good time to add a tailor to your ship and attach doff tailor assignments. perhaps a chain of missions that rewards new costume pieces like hats or scarfs and things.

The duty officers should be tied to your ranking list for jobs. that way you can assign where you want your bridge staff located. you could even go to the extreme of having your active space doffs man the bridge while ground doffs are in the engineering lab.

Commander Makza's Warzone Mission for Ker'rat does no longer exist. Is this intentional? (The zone works normally, though.)

The Ship interior functionalty is uber-cool! Two minor things, though:
    • Why are officers in my Ready room? Isn't that supposed to be the Captain's private room where he invites people if he wants to see them?
    • It would be cool if the officers I talk to had any resemblance with existing duty officers.

Always happy to see pages and pages of DoFF updates.

Meh. The doff system is only a minor diversion, a means to get specific doffs (shield distro, anyone) for me anyway. It's actually quite bothersome to me that it's really the only aspect of the game that regularly gets love lately.
