What's the secret to this? I've tried it three times now and failed every time. There's just not enough time to pillage three ships before they warp with at least two Fed ships coming to interrupt you. I'm getting a little annoyed.

    Okay a few things.

1: You cannot loot eh freighters whilst you arte being shot at so dont bother trying as soon as the escort ships appear destroy them as quick as possible.

2: Do you have any disabling powers at all? Eject Warp Plasma can bring the transports to a grinding halt as can a tractor beam or a gravity well.

3: I don't want to be rude but your DPS is obviously low. Have a hunt around and see what you can do to improve that. Average DPS players can achieve the optional which is 5 transports.

    DPS:
    - Is your equipmet of the highest mark available to you?
    - Are you using tac consoles to improve your principle damage type?
    - Have you arranged you weapons so you can bring all of the to bear on target?
    - Broadside attacks for beam arrays
    - Frontal attacks for dual cannon/dual beam with turrets in aft slots

The trick is cloaking, then fly way, way around to the top of the map where the last beacon is. You will get a message about Starfleet calling in reinforcements once you reach the spot.

At that point the freighters will begin moving towards you. If you time it right and are in a good position the fed ship will be out of range and wont attack you. You can pick off and loot the freighters without interference as they head towards you.

If you go in too far you might have to fight one fed ship but that's not too hard to do and still loot 5 freighters. After you're done you can go back towards where you came in and destroy the other fed ship.

Lastly, all Sorties were designed for tactical ships so make sure you bring high DPS weapons like cannons. And any abilities that slows ships down helps too.

You can also always ask for support. Me is running the Sortis each day, looking for some fellows to come along. If you want, you can PM me about this ingame.

Here's what I do. Jam sensors on the escort & don't shoot at it. this gives you enough time to loot a freighter.

You may also want to try cloaking, going to the front of the convoy, and disabling the forward freighters first. I did that a lot to buy time when doing this on toons that didn't have the capability to hinder ship movement.

They are the best patrols in game. Originally added when KDF crafting went live as a more "Klingon" way to obtain crafting materials... Raid Federation supply lines and commandeer their goods for use within The Empire!

Look for Pi Canis Sortie Alpha, Pi Canis Sortie Bravo, and Path of the Warrior in your mission list. Each Sortie has optional objectives. If you complete all the optionals, Path of the Warrior will complete for extra XP and even Dilithium (for general ranks). The Sorties can be done every 30 min and Path of the Warrior daily.

Indeed. Before I unlocked Klingon I expected the same type of extra-curricular activities as Fed, but instead I get to raid and pillage, as Kahless intended. :D

All 6 of the sortie missions are like free dilithium now that I'm in a full DPS outfitted Hegh'Ta with tractor beam.

As too new a member I'm not allowed to create a new post but as my problem relates to this mission I hope it's ok to post my question here. I have completed the Pi Canis Sortie Alpha and most of the Bravo sortie as well. However when I try to complete the Federation transport attack part I cannot. I fly to the Xarantine sector to where the mission start marker is on the map but nothing happens. I don't know if I'm missing something or if it's a bug. Any help would be appreciated.

The quest marker takes you to the general area, the transports fly around with a couple of escorts and you have to find them.

As zipagat said, there is no clear starting point for that part of the mission - the marker is in the general area where the transports fly around in sector space. So when you're there, look around - they're suposed to be 2 or 3 freighters accompanied with 1 ship flying through sector space. I think they're tagged as "allies". Get closer to them and it will let you start that part of the mission.

Most likely to stop spammers, gold sellers and the like since its a F2P game you can effectively just make account after account for nothing.

It's been a while since i did the pi canis missions. I'll drop by after some ortha/kerrat.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

They are very lucrative during the bonus dilithium event.

That's usually when I do them, its very lucrative when you run multiple toons through it a day during the bonus event.

I remember why i stopped doing them. The erickson optional is a pain. Got it on the 2nd try, but it's still a pain.

What was the Erickson optional? For me, the one discussed here - the transport attack is the biggest pain, but power creep has made that one incredibly easy anyway.

Optional is to get 4 transports, but their location and the civilian patrols often get the way before 1 last one warps out.

You need to time it like you need to time your attacks in the transport attack.

Oh, I remember now. Just in case you haven't considered: when you approach the facility, there are 2 transports right in front of you - I usually unleash on them, incapacitating them and the patrol is easy to clear because it some shuttles/frigates, so that's 2. Ignore the other 4 that go into different directions.
The other 2 i collect for the optional are the 2 inside the blue bubble-shieldy thing at the end of the mission. What I do is - after releasing them from that "bubble", I foucs and unleash everything on that one ship that appears to protect them (and it usually goes down really fast), then disable them both first and loot them afterwards.

I tested my new B'rel setup the other day in Erickson and was surprised how much easier it was compared to when the missions first came out thanks to the power creep.

Indeed. I mostly run a Fleet Mogh these days and it's roflstomp all the way. I remember some time ago players were sharing tips and advice here on the board in terms of how succesfully to get the optionals, particulary in a few of the Pi-Canis missions. Nowdays you can use almost no strategy, pre-planning or positioning - just wipe things out.

    Ahhh...

I have not played this mission in quite some time with my tactical KDF toon flying a Hegh'ta BoP. I recall it took me about 50 minutes to complete all of the six related missions in the Pi Canis Alpha and Bravo Sortie to get the bonus Path of the Warrior reward....

What I do this mission is I cloak to engage the Fed starship patrolling the area of space in between the two transport groups. After it gets destroyed a second starship appears. I quickly kill off that one as well. Then target the freighter group in front of you to disable them and transport off the goodies. Then go back to other freighters and disable them from behind.

I should go back to doing those missions when I have the time because they are pretty fun and this time I tweaked the Boffs station assignments so that I can use gravity well 1 to slow 'em down.

It defentally is a roflstomp in any decent set up cruiser. I just fly between the two transport groups, hit Fire AT Will and disable them all and kill off the ship when it warps in and then collect my stuff and warp out. I never even see the second ship that warps in anymore.

Pity it's so easy now. Oh well. My problem with it is that it takes too much time for the dil that it rewards. You have to fly all over the sector. Especially on the "fly around the planet's rings" missions you also have a lot of wasted time just flying.

Meanwhile I can run ISE/CSE/KSE in rapid succession in less than half the time, convert those marks to dil and make 2x as much dil.

Pi Canis just isn't very efficient.

Is it, though? It's not honorable to be a pirate. It's not honorable to attack and raid and kill your allies' ships.

Don't forget, KDF are now friends with FED. It's about time, too! I'm all for keeping different factions for purely aesthetic reasons, but I think we should change all these "war with the fed" missions. Instead of raiding FED transports we should be raiding pirates that roam KDF territory, so we are protecting our empire. Instead of raiding a FED shipyard we should be hitting a renegade Gorn faction or a Tal Shiar faction or something that doesn't pit KDF vs FED.

Then there's all the "destroy FED colony" and "attack Vulcan transport" missions for DOFFs. Those should be changed. Keep the same inputs and outputs, but change it so that we're trading prisonners or making raids on slaver colonies full of Vulcans (or fill-in-the-species).

Once we have them... well that's another matter. But GETTING them shouldn't be an honorless act of war.

That's my opinion on the matter.
