When this game came out, I had purchased a copy from just about every retailer so I could get all the bonuses, including lifetime subscription, collectors edition, digital deluxe, amazon, gamestop, atari, steam, etc... Then when the game launched, all the way until last June, I had purchased about everything on the c-store. Since then, actual content in the game has really grinded to a hault. Sure stuff like the academy has been added and first person shooter mode, but the missions are all virtually the same. Most of the new stuff in the game is C-Store related such as ships, costumes, and pets, and the only way to keep up now is to buy, buy, buy.
Anyways, this is where I think a less-is-more approach to the C-Store would benefit both your company and the players more. First off you are selling intangible items that can only be used within this one game. It costs you no more to provide ten of these items as it does to provide a million of these items. The concept of the store within the game is a "microtransaction", and when items cost 1200 cryptic points, that's an $18 purchase with a few spare points. Most toys on a shelf in the physical world don't cost that much, so I hardly say you can consider these microtransactions.
Ultimately what I'm saying, if you all would cut the cost of the cryptic points in half or more, or reduce the cost of the items in half or more, you would more than double the audience buying items from the C-Store. Apps on the droid and apple markets only cost around $1-$2. Music on just about any service is roughly $1-$2. Movies at redbox are $1-$2... Players in your game spend roughly $15/mo or much greater on lifetime subscriptions, only to pay $6-$20 for additional individual items in a game.
Personally if C-Store items cost less than $3 each, I would buy every one you pumped out, even if I didn't use it.
Unfortunatley its Cryptic's plan to increase prices on most of the C-Store items when F2P officially launches, even DOUBLE on some items and services.
The fact that one cannot purchase a ship until their character is at a certain rank is really BS. I would have bought the ships I wanted during the Thanksgiving special had this been the case.
Why should a lifetime member have to fork over the same amount of C-Store points as someone he isnt?
There should be benefits for being a lifetime member within the C-Store.
And again, no Christmas Sale. WTF are you all fracking Scrooge's?

LTS can have their account sit and collect 400 points a month even if they don't do diddly squat and don't pay for that month. So we obviously get something for it.

As for a sale they just had one so...
uh oh - typo - my fed character was NOT ranked up enough for me to purchase the ships i wanted during the thanksgiving sale or id be a happy camper with the cryptic santa...i got most of the klingon ships i wanted NOT on sale...right before the thanksgiving sale.........................
one of the reasons i came back to rank the silly fred character after i got my klingon finished...and dont get me started on how i still have missions to do with my fred character NOT having to repeat any mission while having to repeat them over and over again with my klingon character...or when i hit VA as fred and didnt get a new ship like i did with the klingon....pre season 5....
oh well maybe the scrooge will let up before the end of the year with 1 last c-store sale before free to play...
i was hoping for a "12 days of christmas" for the delta flyer too....considering im sitting on day 9 since season 5 began without being able to finish... 8(
woe is me the player who just started to play and is a klingon based player who was happily ranking one of them up before a silly fred...
and thanks by the way i would have wondered where those 400 points would be coming from...does that kick in right away? i loaded up on points(and other lovely medicinals) in hopes for a c-store christmas sale this week...which is probably why i missed i get free points every month when i bought the lifetime a couple weeks ago...oh and 400 points is a tease...id have to wait 3 months before having enough points to buy any of the ships left that i want...
You get 400 points starting as of this month on your subscription anniversary date (ie when you paid for your LTS). I will say I agree that not buying the higher class ships during a sale is annoying but I do understand it (gotta protect those that apparently cant read that they can't use it )
I'm sure a sale will be coming anyways next month pretty fast.
