Tantooine is HUGE! It may be larger than the one in SWG! :):D

I think I've read somewhere that Hoth is twice the size of Tattooine

Game is enjoyable, and very polished, not had one major problem (or even minor) since i started. the queues can be horrendous but once your in its very smooth.

I still enjoy STO more though. I just prefer the mechanics, gameplay and the way its set up. Tor feels very much like wow in many regards. the missions are set up in a similar way. the gameplay and the look. only the story lines set it apart in that regards (and the fact its star wars). wow bores me to tears and i just hope the story lines keep me engaged because the running back and forth, the style of combat, the kill 10 of this side missions that are not very original and the lack of meaningful space combat is a slight turn off.

The game is quite linear and with certain classes using similar missions im not sure how much i fancy running all 8 classes. considering how complex it must be to add new content to the game im questioning the longevity of it for me so i dont want to rush through it.

fun and enjoyable but not as stunning as i hoped. still early days and i have yet to see much of it so im open to having my mind changed as i play.

Yes you can, font size goes as high as 16 or 18. Right click the tab you want to resize the text in and it's in the list that comes up

I'm not talking about chat, I'm talking about text used when you mouse over a skill or other game mechanic text. You can adjust that?

I feel similarly. I do enjoy the Imperial Agent storyline but most things on the Jedi side are boring. The Imperial Agent has a James Bond-vibe that's win though.

I'm level 28 right now and incredibly burned out with the five or so space instances. They're very repetitive--with no major differences (your primary mission is either take out ships with turrets as an alternate, or vice-versa--or do it while escorting in one mission).

As for combat, PvP is actually worse in terms of power balance. The arenas are great but you can get stun locked pretty fast (as an agent, I have one counter on a high cooldown). That said, I love PvP being so fast paced.

One of the best attributes is how massive the attention to detail and scope is. There are dozens of areas, even on smaller planets, that I've never explored. I finished my Tantooine main questline and only say maybe 25% of it.

Isn't the problem with Eve that due to it's skill learning system that it's impossible for new players to get an even footing with veterans? Mission-based experience points and a level cap would solve that. But I'd have no objection to any myriad of different ship load-outs for mining, hauling, combat (PvE and PvP), even racing perhaps?

The challenge is making it accessible so that anyone can pick up and play, but also complicated enough that the hardcore find a reason to stay. Different spheres of gameplay (combat, exploration, diplomacy, mining - all integral parts of Star Trek's universe really) should not necessarily have any impact on each others' levels of intricacy.

I have to disagree the eve online skill system is what makes it awsome, the problem with sto is you can max out in a few day and then what? start again.
in eve it takes months to get new ship days of real time to travel its what sto is missing.

Starting playing a little this week-end (feel like a cheat because I "pre-ordered" only last Thursday or Friday). Neat so far. I have the impression the Sith Inquisitor storyline is more interesting than the Jedi Knight storyline. (I did the latter in the open beta). More interesting choices and NPCs. (It's awesome that you basically hate your first instructor!)

Anyone from the planned STO Exile fleet (LoL Ground?) active in this thread?

Well I for myself can say that this is one of the reasons why I did not play eve.
I'm not bothered that it takes some time to catch up, but it beeing litarally impossible.... no thanks.

SWTOR is the nail in the STO coffin for me.

As a Lifetime subscriber from day 1, STO has simply just not been what I hoped it would be and, despite HUGE improvments, still isn't.

I agree that there are issues that need to be dealt with for SWTOR in respects to items variety, etc, but I have to say, SWTOR is over 9000 times more "ready" than STO ever was for launch.

Even after 2 years of developement and changes, STO still feels empty and without any real personality at all. Sure, some of the storylines in SWTOR are a bit "been there done that", but that is the bread and butter of Star Wars overall. Good vs Evil Space Cowboys.

Star Trek has always been far more complicated and better developped from a story point of view... problem is, none of that complexity and "feel" from the Star Trek series, movies and books, made it's way into STO. Hence, my feeling that STO is, and will remain, an empty shell of a game despite the changes.

I will obviously pop into STO from time to time, (I did afterall pay 300$ for this game), but yup, it's been a lot of self-motivation to log into STO over the past 6 months (and even shortly after launch), and even though SWTOR is, in some respects, not up to STO yet, it's not even launch day and it's pretty much better in for respects.

Sorry Cryptic developpers... I know you guys have the game at heart and you tried, but your Team Directors dropped the ball 2 years ago and, despite them changing a few times, they still haven't seemed to pick it up yet.

    Cheers!

ps - notice the sig since forever... it still applies

So I've got a question: does the "reset" button in your mission log do what I think it does? I guess I should say what I think it does =P

If I make a dialog choice I dont want in a mission, can I reset that mission and then do it over again?

if you are in dialog you can press ESC and start dialog again ;)

So if I choose a Dark Side option but decide I wanted to choose Light Side I can start the conversation over, thought I would keep the DS points I earned from the first time through.

Does anyone know how to call a companion after you have dismissed them? I cant open the crew window because it says I dont have a companion, although I've already had the droid with me on some missions. I'm playing Jedi Knight btw.

It's a button in the companion window at the bottom left of the screen, I can't remember which one

Just left click in the center circle where the companion's face would normally be. Or you can go the long way and go the the crew window by clicking the diamond on the top tool bar.

I'm all but done with STO for now....Not because of ToR....Just nothing left for me to do that I WANT to do....

DOff missions, while cool....aren't enough to keep me interested....Maybe if/when the new FE comes out, I might log back in....but as for now....Game Fly's looking pretty tempting again....With their new PC game client thing.....Might have to look into it....

I better get my Sith figurine, lol. As far as gameplay I know Bioware won't disappoint, I love their story driven RP Model

Don't get me wrong, I'm not abandoning STO, just going to devote my next 6 months to TOR to get the most out of it. I know TOR has no real space battles, but its a small price to pay for the extensive ground portions. I am sure in their next patch or expansion they will include a more refine and indepth space mission and combat system.

(Funny that Spike TV aired a two day StarWars Marathon before the launch date - talk about a uber promo)

... Why on earth would you hope that, instead of hoping that they continue to make a product that actually tempts you to come back instead?

Some people and their hate... sheesh.

I've been in the beta and now been playing the early access for TOR, and they're not really comparable. TOR has TRIBBLE for space combat (it's solo and not at all free-form) so STO wins in the space combat. Otherwise SWTOR is basically WoW in Star Wars, but with voice acting and a better storyline for each class. The graphics, being more cartoony, make for a smoother-running game than, say, STO (which is heavily detail-oriented). Even besides the fanbase differences, they're both going to continue to appeal to someone.

F2P for STO means that I'll be balancing my time equally. SWTOR is the shiny new toy, but it's not so fantastic that it'll absorb me like, say, Warcraft did when it first came out. I've been there and done that; this is just a new spin on it.

Because he took his $150 for CE and $80 every 6 months to Bioware. ;) Granted I paid a bit over that at STO's launch but that was in trade for never having to pay a sub again.

Seems criminal to me to call something a 'Collector's Edition' when it will never be worth more than what you paid. You register the game and it is tied to your email and your name forever. So what then a statue? From what I have read the security keys have been missing in some boxes and/or the flimsy statue broken on delivery.

I got my CE from Gamestop Online, and had it delivered yesterday. Everything was in one piece and in good condition. I have to say i'm very impressed with the quality of the items included. Needless to say I've been spending a lot of time on TOR. It's a great game for story. I rolled up on a PVP server and it's been a blast.
