For those of you just joining us. Yes I know this was Intentional by Cryptic, it's not a BUG. It IS Bull*&^%
BUG: 80k is rewarded for Commander Promotion when 100k is needed for T3 Ship
When you are promoted to Commander 1 you are unable to purchase a New ship due to the lack of Dilithium given.
Description:
Any player will be unable to Purchase a Tier 3 ship due to being shorted 20,000 Dilithium. Even grinding the few ways there are currently are to receive Dilithium it'll take 5-10 days just to Earn the MISSING 20,000 Dilithium.
CATEGORY : Mission - Promotion to Commander
How to reproduce:
Level any Character to 21 or Commander 1
Accept and Turn in the "Promotion to Commander" Mission
Check Dilithium - You should only have been rewarded 80,000
Check the Shipyard - All Commander Ships are 100,000 Dilithium
LOCATION: Earth Space Dock - Admiral Quinn
Commentary
This needs a FIX as soon as one can be Made, a Tier 2 Ship only last so long VS Tier 3 Npcs

I´m not sure it is a bug. They just didn´t include dilithium as a reward for missions (most of them anyway). Why they decided to implement the new currency system only halfway, probably knowing that people couldn´t get higher tier ships is beyond me though. I mean they want us to level up on Tribble for testing purposes, right ?

The "Free Ship" before didn't require you to go out and grind Energy Credits to get your ship. Hence it's a BUG, not just an over sight. Players when Promoted should get the Next Ship for getting Promoted, not "Here's 80% of what you need, hope you find the Rest"

Its actually just a bug if its not intended.
And if I recall correct he gives you Dilithium to 'help' you get a new ship.
Also note that some descriptions in the level preview have been updated to 'permission to buy new ship'
I think its actually better that way - now players won't change ships like their socks.

Well okay with that train of thought I can see your point of view.
Mine view is that if you Replace an Item or Reward it should be replaced with a Equal Value Item/Reward. Not take something away then give 80% of it back and hope people are happy with 80% of something like a New Ship
Congratulations, Name of Player! You've proven yourself to be invaluable to Starfleet and earned the respect of your fellow officers.
Return to Earth Spacedock. I would like to formally recognize your contributions to the Federation, after which you will be granted a new Starship Commission.
Congratulations on making Commander! The Admiral has given his blessing for you to choose a ship appropriate to your new stature. Take a look at my Store. The starships that are approved for your Rank are listed.
These are the two Messages I could find in my Logs about the ship.
Granted a New Starship Commission - Doesn't sound like I should need any more than I've given.
I spoke to a dev tonight is TTS chat, this is INTENTIONAL. Not all of the dilithium system is in game yet
The idea is we will be earning dilithium for every mission, the reason why we dont have enough is because of this

Since this is "Intentional" it has to be the worst Exchange Rate for an out Going item.
Free Ship Plaque = 100% Of Ship Cost
80,000 Dilithium = 80% of Ship cost (100,000 D)
If that's going to be the Exchange Rate we all better Turn in any unused Ship Plaques or lose 20% of their Value.
if this is not fixed before launch it will fail, Star Trek gamers will not put up with this for long and there will be no long term commitment from the gaming community with a model like this.
I like the concept of Dilithium, but seriously 20,000 for a freaking consol?!?
either make things cheaper and give us enough dilithium at lvl up to get the ship we should be in, or just bring back ship tokens, and make it so we can purchase other ships if we like, cuz that is why we play, its to pilot a STAR SHIP!
this should take first priority, or we are all in for an epic FAIL!
"Congratulations on your Promotion Lt Commander. Just so you know there is a war going on right now so despite the fact we live in an economy with out monetary value, you'll still need to pay for your own supplies........ which includes the ships we used to literally just give away........ Congratulations!"

"....but you you have a few extra US dollars, I am sure we can work something out. If you know what I mean."
Funny that everybody seems to be woried about the Commander level, the T2 ship is more than capable here. The real problem is, it becomes worse at the higher levels, the difference between received Dilithium an the actual ship cost increases drastically.

Its not a bug, they want you to use dilithium from missions as well as the amount they give you. Thay have already stated that.
Ya'know - I get the reasoning/explanation behind why a promotion will only give you 80% of what you need for the next ship. But why, oh why, knowing that dilithium was still in the works didn't they set the testing up so that we could just get the new ship on Tribble?
Well okay with that train of thought I can see your point of view.

They don't give 80% of something back and nothing is being taken away from you.
New players will never have the chance to get a full ship from Adm. Quinn, so nothing will be taken away from them, and neither will it be taken away from anyone else. - Except you have profound proof that they will subtract the missing amounts to the new ships from the dilithium we get in exchange for our old currencies of course.
Facts is that whether this is a bug or not people have complained about switching ships more than once, so the probability of Cryptic listening to it is not that low.
Actually I think its pretty good.
Gives some value to dilithium and ensures that at least a certain amount o the tons of this supposedly rare material you earn over the course leveling is taken out of the system again.
Well back to my point:
You dont loose anything. - All of old characters got their ships for free, all new characters get a help in buying them, but not the full ship. You got all your current characters ships for free and every new character only gets a certain amount of the full sum.
This applies to every (new) character. No matter if the account holder started the char before F2P or afterwards.
Saying they lost something is the same as claiming that you lost 500 $$ because you didnt buy these shares the other day and sold them the next. Its not really a loss since you have never invested into the share in question, so your loss is just a theoretical one.
On another Topic:
I doubt that you have meant any harm, but people generally think that it is impolite to highlight their typos in a forum, especially if the one doing it makes a lot of them in their 'correction posts' him or herself, as I have pointed out at the top of my post.

Because it would have ****ed a lot of people off i they did it without any warning on the live server.
This way people know about it and they can test their numbers at the same time.
I've stopped testing on Tribble until this is sorted. It's bad enough they're expecting me to start over to test stuff let alone expecting me to grind the dilithium to just rank up into a ship appropriate for my class. I'm optimistic it's a bug but disturbed there's been not one peep out of the dev responsible for this.
At the very least remove the text from the Starfleet rewards that says "-new ship" as this is no longer the case
Do what yer gonna do, but if your gonna leave it this way remove that text to avoid further flaming
There is no.need for flaming as you put it. IT is working as they intended and this is a test server for a reason... To test new builds including unfinished ones.

thats why i made the comment like I did. No malace intended however the text I refered to implys that they are being given a ship of their choosing and being a test server, making a slight suggestion that maybe it be removed.
Obiviously i'm too simple minded to compete with you. Have a nice day.

Awww, but I wanted my tribble. I don't care if I trained it to steal 20000 dilithium.
