and a lot of EC as most KDF 'crafters' don't have a bank full of samples...
ROFL yer funny as a KDF player I should educate you on the KDF and crafting and our ability to get data samples. When it comes to crafting the only difference right now is you craft phasers and we craft disruptors and now we craft hargh'pengs. The data sample side is we can do sorties for an hour two and get a whole stack while we xp or emblem grind. When I say stack I mean a stack of every common type so samples are not hard for us KDF to get a hold of (Even more so its a lot easier than playing a fed when it comes to samples). A lot of people dismiss the KDF really bad but I will say it does need a lot of improvements but when it comes to data samples, crafting, and emblems KDF is the best faction which I am sure will change once content and ships are on an equal playing field on both sides which I admit right now some areas on both sides do not compliment each other. I just wish people would do some research and actually play the KDF side before they make such comments.
When I Started this thread I was Happy that we got the peng( sorry have had a few beers and my spelling goes to sleep after 2 beers). I"m still happy about it. to get crafting supplies to lvl up your chars is easy. I use my fed. I also take unexplored areas, i don't do mission just get the anomalies. In 1.5 hours I can get 200 of each anomalies,a little less if I get to much wife Argo.
If they were not bind on pick up. the Exchange would be flooded with them, and feds would never have to do the mission. I do agree with the fact that we should have a mission as well, but for a short term fix this will do for me.
That is the point of my post about "You can please some of the people..." Just being able to have them, even if it is by crafting is better than not at all. Some people just need to relish the small victories. After all, the small victories can add up to change the course of a war.

Sure, & how do stacks of end game samples help me craft? they dont, because crafting was introduced about 6 months after i was at max level.I cannot craft a simple hypo even without hitting the exchange. oh, i could go fight the bots for low level TRIBBLE, but i dont't play STO to scan anomalies, I'm here for the pew.
Okay, yeah, it will take longer to craft them than it will to run a mission, but lets not lose sight of the basic fact. This is an improvement! Perhaps this is a temporary fix while a "Klingon" version of the Doomsday mission is developed, I don't know. But it's in the game on both sides and it's in a way that should actually satisfy Lore-nuts.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to start learning how to craft so I can replace my tri-cobalt butt launcher with a Harpeng butt launcher.
Am I glad they FINALLY Put the hargh'peng in the game for the Klingons? Sure.
But am I angry at the way it is implimented? Darn right!
It's rediculious how easy they make the Fed side, and how annoying it can be to be a Klingon. The Feds get everything handed to them on a silver freek'n platter. Yet the Klingons have had to grind, claw, and scratch for nearly everything in this game. And they are even Whined about being OP! When it's the Fed side that is the Op Side.
And this is just another prime example to me. My biggest problem is "How hard would it have been to make the damn things on the Klingon side FACTION ONLY?" Make it so that when you craft it on the Klingon side, you can sell it on the exchange, but it can't be equiped by a Federation ship then? At least that way, you don't have to max your crafting on EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER YOU CREATE ON THE KDF SIDE!
Sure it's not a big deal when you only have 1 Klingon Faction character.. But what about the people who have.. say.. 3... or 6.. or 10.. or more? You think that is right for htem to have to get that many characters crafting up to max just for 1 weapon? And what happens if this becomes a trend? Are we all supposed to have Max crafting like in WoW? Wil that be the new way to make this game better?
Will we then get Item scores and 8 hour Raids? Where if your characters item score isn't high enough you can't go into a PVP Match or STF or Fleet Action?
Yeah.. First it's the Hargh'peng..And they say the Development of the game doesn't favor the Federation. They should have found a way to equalize things out, but doing TRIBBLE like this just puts a magnifying glass on how obvious that the developers would prefer to make things better for the Federation side and down right make the KDF not even worth it to play.
What ever. Go ahead. Be all "WOO WE GET HARGH'PENGS! TY DEVS! STO IS AWESOME!" Antoher 6 Months from now and I expect the KDF to be in the same state of TRIBBLE that it is now. And that is what angers me most of all..
Short answer: Hargh'peng = Straw vs Camel's back for me..
I started STO up and got right down to crafting. After a little bit of mail swapping I had a max level crafting Klink, with a B'rel, 5 launchers ready to go, and then I logged to a different character. I was psyched to do a little pay back but ultimately it still felt wrong. It's a good step that Cryptic finally (reluctantly it seems) made it available to the faction most vulnerable to it.
It's just too bad that they didn't actually fix the bloody thing before increasing the proliferation of these over powered pieces of garbage.

Well many people say its not "possible to make items usable on one faction only".
But even if thats true there are 2 VERY EASY ways to implement them KDF only in a better way:
a. Make it possible to get them with emblems (while keeping it bind on pickup)
b. simply remove the crafting-skill restriction and let everybody craft them without R&D skill.
Both ways are STILL more efford then the feds have, but it would be at least reasonable.
As a matter of fact, my KDF crafter is the only one of 3 Generals who has no use for a Hargh'Pengs at all.

This is what I expected. Not having to build crafting skills to get it.
Talk about thanks for nothing.
