Any chance of ever seeing the Jupiter?

As perhaps an alternative to the Dreadnaught Gal X? I particularly wasn't all that interested in the Gal X given that it's from an alternate universe in comparison to this one.

I don't even care about powers, consoles or extra BOFF slots. Just would like the skin/model.

Especially since it'd make a nice home for those Romulan fighters you can deploy.

Odds are the jupiter will be released at Tier 2 with 2 LT engy's and an extra tac console with a uni console that farts nuclear rainbows of instant death that can only be claimed for marks of valor.

I think it's an ugly ship and wouldn't pay a thing for it. :p

But seriously, doesn't effect me. Don't care for the Jupiter class in the least. Already probably gonna fork out some cash for the Nimbus class.

The Jupiter isn't the best looking ship out there, I hope it gets a CapnLogan pass before it moves into player's hands. So far, I've seen no indication they are working on it, and in some areas of the game, they appear to have removed the Jupiter , replacing it with the Galaxy-X.

Nah. They should make it a Tier 5 science with tac slot ;)

it's prty ugly, but i'd rather see a massive quality pass than the gal-X replacing it.

the idea of a realy big ship is one i like, it just screams 'command ship'

    i.e.
who's incharge of this battle group?
See that massive ship over there?
    O.

Eww, no. That ship looks like something a 3rd grader drew.

I like to think of the Gal X as what Starfleet is doing to all the Galaxy hulls as they come up for refit. Uses less resources than building an all new command cruiser.

I agree. The ship doesn't look like a regular exploration ship the federation builds. It looks like a mobile command post. I think fixing the nacelles would be all that the ship needs to make it look good.

Mechanically, I would expect it be some kind of engineering/science hybrid, though. Something that signifies "this ship exists for support". It is not designed for offense on its own.

meh from all the hideous ships cryptic has pumped out out amongst a few good looking ones this thing is probably the worst of them all.

While I know preaching against it is useless it will come some day, so I simply pray that day will not come for a long long long LONG time :)

Personally I find the Gal X even worse really. Slap a spare nacelle in the most useless part of the ship and toss a cannon under the saucer. A fine idea for a ship that turns like a buss with flat tires driving in gravel....

Not to mention it came from alternate universe that was prevented from taking place in this current one. The idea that it's even here is just silly. The Sovereign already outclassed the Galaxy. If anything they should have made a Sov X. Then at least it would half way make sense.

As far as the Jupiters design? I find it a refreshing break from the norm. It also fills the large ship function that the federation currently lacks. I wouldn't even mind if it was given a carrier like ability where the fighters are it's main form of offense.

Retconning it out of BGO was a terrible idea at that. "Oh hey lets swap out this command vessel for some silly fan service ship that came from an AU."

Yea, definately not in that bandwagon. Sorry.

You are welcome to that opinion of course, but here's mine:

I agree the ship looks like a sub sandwich bun with old style constellation-class nacelles. Perhaps the new Odessey-class from DTNE which is very big will take the X's place. But what you may not know is that the Galaxy-X has features that the sovereign-class does not. In addition to being strictly a warship, the Dreadnought is armed with more weapons and torpedoes then a sovereign. In 'All Good Things...' It was fitted with a cloaking device and could go warp 13. It also had a phaser battery that could destroy a fully shielded neg'var in 6 - 8 shots. There is no other starfleet vessel to date that has that fire power. The technical manuals state it has cannons for a confrontational assault, armed with quantum and photon torpedoes, just like the soveriegn,

It could destroy multiple ships before they had time to pass the Dreadnought. I believe it was also stated that the ship could transwarp too. Something the Sovereign could not do during the last trek movie. The soverign was the most advanced vessel tech wise, but it wasn't the most powerful, and it was still designed for exploration.

The remaining galaxy-class starships after the dominion war were convered to Galaxy-Subclass Experiemental Dreadnoughts ie Galaxy-Experiment or Galaxy-X with the prefix NCX. The civilians were removed and the ship was fitted with weapons to turn it into a warship to fight the klingons. It has more of a tactial and weapon advantage over a Soverign. That being said, It makes it the perfect Front Line ship to attack the Borg as its heavy phaser battery would make swiss cheese out of a borg cube.

This is true in game for me, at least, I can destroy a neg'var with my beam arrays, lance and a tricobalt before I even pass it. I can do this with an excellsior and soverign as well as long as they are piloted by tac officers. And it doesn't help the poor klink or fed's that I also have cloak.

I say if you want a new command ship, use the new Enterprise-F or design a totally new ship for the job. The Jupiter is just ugly. Id rather see a Typhoon as the commandhip.

I almost forgot! About it being alternate reality: The mirror universe is involved in this game, plus we are flying ships from the 22ed century (nx-01). Picard of this timeline saw the Galaxy-X that Admiral RIker flew. Who is to say he didnt pass the idea and configuration to Starfleet and they found it as an excellent refit for the remaining Galaxys? Arent we using transphasic torpedoes and ablative armor generator from an alternate universe "End Game."
